  1. No clue. People tend to forget that a lot of these guys live and do their off season conditioning in places like florida, Georgia, Louisiana, etc. They grew up and live in that heat half the year.
  2. As far as DBs go….. maybe Eric Stokes (4.25)? Dude has the uncanny ability to turn the burners on and run by WRs on deep routes. Can’t think of anyone else playing CB now. Historically, Deion Sanders and Darrell Green come to mind.
  3. GB probably has the best combination of defensive talent and scheme to stop Allen & Co. Not sure if they have the offensive weapons to compete for the whole game though. They’d have to have a very dominant day running the ball and winning TOP on top of one of those young receivers having the light go on.
  4. The bears backup QB was all big ten iirc. Not to mention a guy like Robert Quinn would absolutely destroy a college OT.
  5. Damn. Some of y’all need to consult a Dr about Xanax
  6. I thought you were saying that it was the in the pocket hits that did more damage than the hits while scrambling? I was saying that it’s not the running/scrambling that gets them injured, but being in a compromised position when hit regardless of where they are on the field. That usually occurs behind the LOS because they’re passing, but whether they’re inside the pocket (Cam) or outside of the pocket (Rodgers), or down the field (Garcia) doesn’t matter much. Basically I was trying to broaden the scope from “in the pocket” to behind the LOS. Half of Steve Young’s injuries were outside of the pocket but scrambling to make a pass; most notably the Sapp & Nickerson KO blow. However, the rules now certainly make many of these injuries less likely. A helmet to helmet hit on a defenseless QB who was just horse collared would probably result in a ejection/suspension now.
  7. Would you consider Rodgers a scrambling QB? Both times he broke his collarbone it was behind the LOS, IIRC. Both we’re tremendous at scrambling and buying time behind the LOS. Both got injured behind the LOS. Occasionally elivering blows in the manner of a RB or FB isn’t what kills these guys. It’s usually getting nailed while trying to deliver a pass from an awkward body position/platform. That said, there are rules now which didn’t exist when Brady, Rodgers, Big Ben, and Cam started their careers. The body weight rule was in response to the Rodgers hit by Barr. The Brady injury resulted in the rule about going low on QBs. Cam petitioned the league about how refs treated him. All of these things changed how the game is played and officiated. At the end of the day I’d prefer to see JA17 slide unless it’s a critical play, but there’s a lot more protection now than there used to be. The hits are different than they were 10-15 years ago. The NFL doesn’t want their money making faces injured and has legislated that out of the game as much as possible.
  8. Thing with Big Ben though was that he spent his off seasons impersonating John Daly. https://www.golfdigest.com/story/ben-roethlisbergers-offseason-fitness-program-consisted-of-playing-golf-and-drinking-beer-to-which-we-say-hell-yes/amp
  9. I wouldn’t be surprised to see GB surpass the Vikings by playoff time, but I think they’ll both make the playoffs. GB’s success is going to depend on Bakhtiari and Jenkins returning to form along with Watson or Doubs developing. They’ve had horrible week 1’s since LaFleur arrived and walked into a buzzsaw. That defense also held the Vikings to 23 points despite the offense being completely inept. However, that first place schedule isn’t gonna do them any favors.
  10. Maybe the Chargers/Falcons pick swap that got them LaDanian Tomlinson and Michael Vick respectively? There are probably a few other trades that worked out as well.
  11. Smoked pork shoulder with homemade bbq sauce. Probably go with traditional German sides.
  12. Love to see him at Nino’s where he won’t be able to walk out the door unless he agrees that he likes it. 😂
  13. Blake Martinez….. Why would anyone want the wish.com version of Paul Posluszny?
  14. What’s the percentage for teams that have both, or a 100 yard rusher with a 250 yard passer?
  15. From most accounts he works as hard or harder than anyone else in the league. Allen’s definitely at the point where ego wouldn’t be an issue, especially after injuries. I’m sure OBJ would fit right in on the roster. Question is the repeated knee injuries. That eventually takes a toll.
  16. I could certainly see Sanders coming back down the stretch run if there’s an injury to Diggs or Davis. He’d be cheap, fresh, knows the offense and has a report with Allen. Aside from that I don’t see anyone of those guys latching on unless a team gets really desperate.
  17. Godspeed and good luck on his recovery. It’s detrimental to their prospects, but I’d rather beat each team at full strength. I hope he has no long term negative impact from this.
  18. I think it’ll be easy if the Oline can cleanly get him past the LOS consistently. If Singletary’s first juke is on LBers or DBs instead of Dlinemen his YPC will jump up dramatically, as he’d likely rip off a bunch of 10-20 yard runs.
  19. The importance of special teamers may have increased due to dumpster diving for a punter.
  20. NFL teams have tremendous resources, but I think it’s likely that they do not deep dive as intensely on back of the roster prospects and specialists compared to first few rounds. That’s probably compounded when they look into players at smaller schools where there aren’t multiple prospects every year or alumni already on the roster to glean information from. The kid is off the roster now. I’m actually interested to see if SDst and/ SDPD brushed over any of this when the Bills were investigating….. perhaps it’ll come to light.
  21. Actually…. Yes, and it worked surprisingly well. I had a bunch of 20 year old lady’s babying me like a little brother and one of them hooked me up with her younger sister the next week. 🤷‍♂️. Granted, that was back in the 90’s.
  22. Agree. Just watch some of the GB playoff losses over Rodgers career…. Multiple onside kicks, blocked kicks, blocked punts, onside kicks, etc. They possibly would have been to another 2-3 Super Bowls in the last 11 years with good special teams. It certainly matters in the modern NFL.
  23. Not concerned yet. Rookie CBs take their lumps. That’s going to be compounded by learning on the fly against Diggs. Heck, even Gilmore looked like garbage his first four games in NE and he was a top 5-10 corner already.
