  1. I agree. To make this work there needs to be a prospect or two that falls at a position the Bill's Bill's don't need. The obvious would be QB but maybe TE, MLB or DB. Bills are unlikely to invest first round resources in those positions. The teams below us know that too. So they another team to cover someone at 22 and feel the need to leap past the Patriots
  2. Amen OP. There is no difference between 22 and the mid thirties. The only thin you lose is the fifth year guarantee. I’d give that up for additional picks on day two. Additionally, after using a day 3 pick on best punter, I would package some of the 5th and 6th round picks for higher 2021 pick. There are not many roster spots up for grabs especially if they sign at least a couple starters in free agency or bring back Spain. A few day two defenders and AJ Green would be perfect. Or a DE in free agency and then a WR and two OLB on day two.
  3. No thanks. Duke has less than 20% chance of being on the roster next season. The Houston game showed the defense is far from elite. Yes another WR would be great, but the priority is pass rushers.
  4. Okung has never lived up to his draft status. He was never that good in Seattle and always a bit injury prone. If they go that way, then they will cut Long and probably go with either Waddle or a cheap FA.
  5. Agree on not allocating 25% of the cap to one position group. Just to be clear, Beane created the salary cap mess you are giving him credit for solving. He traded Watkins and Dareus accelerating their cap hits. It is perfectly reasonable to make those moves, but you can't then forgive the impact on the salary cap. I'm a fan of Star, much more so than many on this board. But he, Murphy, and Morse are overpaid for their level of production. You may be correct that Beane needs to overpay to attract talent to Buffalo. As for the disproportionate positon groups, that could change in a heart beat. If they sign a high dollar free agent DL or WR there will be significant dollars assigned to those groups. Not saying that is wrong, but if you add AJ Green or Amari Cooper to John Brown and Cole Beasley.
  6. LOL. It's easy to cut players and throw away an entire season to give yourself cap space. And Beane has a track record of overspending on free agents - Star, Murphy, Morse, and Long are all overpaid. Morse was an improvement at center but he is far from the best center in the league which is the contract Beane gave him. I do think he has done a good job in how he has structured some of the contracts giving himself some outs. Let's see how he spends this year. Can you explain this? It doesn't make any sense. Having a #1 opposite him, means he will get more targets thrown his way. Even if Ramsey shadowed their best WR (which no DB does for entire games - Tre only did sparingly) he would still see more passes thrown his way and really doesn't mean anything in terms of his ability to cover.
  7. I'm fine with that. Bring him back on a one year deal. Overpaying for one year with $80M to spend is fine. Bringing back Phillips won't prevent Bills from signing a WR or a DE in free agency. Just don;t make the mistake of a long term commitment to Phillips and they will be fine.
  8. This is what the Bills need to do more. They need to weaponize the tag. I have advocated tagging J. Phillips to have some control of the situation.
  9. Tony Eason was drafted by Patriots in 1983 one pick after Bills selected Kelly. In an odd twist, Jacob Eason’s father is named Tony, but it is not the same Tony Eason that was drafted in 1983 by the Patriots
  10. Can't break the bank on Milano. He is a nice player in McD's system. Great production from where he was drafted, but he is not a top 30 linebacker in this league. Let him play out his contract and move on. There will be bigger names that will need extensions. If there is any doubt just remember this play.
  11. Unless Allen regresses, QB will not be the position that determines the outcome of 2020 season. If Allen plays at the same level as last year, the season will be won or lost in the next 60 days. Beane needs to find at least two capable pass rushers, a deep threat , a rotational DT, make a decision on Ford at RT, and a back-up RB. He has the money and the draft assets to fill all these spots.
  12. Love that idea, but he probably won't make it past the fourth round.
  13. 100% agree they are not adding 9 rookies. But 5 of those 9 are in rounds 5 and 6. This is the year to use at least one of those picks on a PK or P. Also they can trade a couple of the picks for higher round picks next year. Looking at what Beane has done in the past, I suspect he will trade the 4th and package with a 5th or 6th to get back into the 3rd round somewhere or move up a few spots in the third round. I wouldn't do it, but Beane will likely do it.
  14. OMG hell no. This draft is deep in edge, DL, and WR. This is the year to trade out of the first round and get extra second and third round picks.
  15. I am fine with Knox and Kroft. If Croom, Sweeney, or an UDFA emerge as the third TE I'm fine with that. I would rather carry an extra OL instead of Lee Smith.
  16. Its a lottery. These GMs are of course more capable than the rest of us. But it doesn’t mean they are any good either. 32 GMs passed on Brady five times each. 20 passed on Rodgers. Romo and Warner go undrafted. The list of draft busts is endless.
  17. I agree. He is a solid WR but not a gamebreaker. He is not Julio, Hopkins, AJ, or AB. Hell I'm not even sure he is Smith-Schuster level. He's probably a 8-12 ranking type of player who will get paid like he is top 3.
  18. I had Allen #1 and Rosen #2. Rosen still may prove to be a decent QB but it looks less and less likely. Neither Allen nor Rosen would have done anything in 2018 behind that terrible mess of an o-line. If by the end of 2019, Rosen had not been the well established starter, then both Beane and McD lose their jobs. Beane traded away a serviceable LT, and two first round picks to move up and draft a QB. If they miss on that QB then they have to go. You can not risk them missing on another QB.
  19. I have nothing against drafting an elite OG or C in the first round. Rush the passer and protect the passer. But not this year. They need 3 front 7 defenders in the first four rounds of this draft and a WR. Even if they sign AJ Green, I would still take a WR in the second round. Best case scenario is bring back Spain on an affordable deal, keep Ford at RT, and add youth to the OLB and DE positions.
  20. From what I have read, he played in the 270's in college and weighed in at 287 at the combine. So coming in next year between 295-300 is probably where he will end up.
  21. Knox is the most physically gifted TE the Bills may have ever had. Look at his body type. He is not as big as Gronk but Gronk is a once in a lifetime player. Knox looks and plays like Ertz, Whitten, Kittle, and Kelce. He made the incredible catches and he gets separation. No doubt he has a way to go with routine cathces and he disappeared for many games. But he has all the physical tools to be a great one. I was never sold on Oliver but he played much better than I thought he would especially against the run. What was most impressive was how he finished the season. That is a testament to how McD used him throughout the year. I give McD crap quite a bit but he handled the Phillips and Oliver rotation superbly. Add 10-15 pounds without losing quickness and he could be great. Singletary will be interesting to watch. Does he have the frame for 300 touches (carries and catches) in a season? Already has been injured once, though a hamstring really doesn't mean he can't take the pounding.
  22. 100% agree. The college game no longer allows the OT position to develop. There are no more Orlando Pace or Joe Thomas guys in college. They need years to develop. I'd be fine with Ford at RT. However, if they let Spain walk, then I would favor signing a veteran RT and moving Ford to LG at least for 2020. That would put the best 5 linemen on the field.
  23. Oliver has the chance to be very good. Hope he adds 10-15 pounds in the off-season. Knox may be the best of them all in the end.
