  1. Yeah, I think I care more about playoff wins than lockerroom hugs. You should too. Good coach. His defense choked in Houston. I don't doubt that the franchise is moving in the right direction but I would have waited another year. There are no salary cap issues if he fails unlike extending Fitz too early but still I don't see the need to extend his contract now.
  2. Too soon. Last year's schedule was a joke. He had no leverage to go anywhere else. No reason to extend him now until you see what he does with this team. At least 6 years is only half of the career INT total for Nathan Peterman but 5 more than the number of successful challenges.
  3. Black and white. Black family including a 6 year old driving their car but is mistaken for a supposedly stolen car with no weapons on them is handcuffed and laying on the ground. You think a white family is forced to the ground and handcuffed while the cops figure out what s going on?
  4. Yes and no. It all depends on where the pass rush is coming from. Hughes and Mack started as OLB and moved to DE while guys like Von Miller stayed at OLB.
  5. Bills beating Tom Landry and America's team in Buffalo while going 2-14. This game alone proves any given Sunday is the reality in the NFL.
  6. Base 4-3 DL Hughes, Oliver, Harrison, and Addison Subs base 4-3 Murphy, Jefferson, Butler, Johnson Run down/distance DL Epenesa, Harrison, Butler, Jefferson Nickle DL Hughes, Oliver, Epenesa, and Murphy/Addison Team is still weak at pass rushing DE. Maybe Johnson progresses but unlikely. Hopefully Hughes doesn't regress. My thoughts on PED Murphy have not changed but this staff likes him and he showed up in the Houston game. So I suspect he will rotate with Addison early in the season and whichever is playing better will get more snaps on the nickle DL. I also think Epenesa will see some limited action in run down/distance DE but will get more reps as an interior pass rusher on the nickle DL LB is easier. In the nickel, it will be Edmunds and Milano 90% of the time. In the base 4-3 they will start Klein and work in Joesph. I suspect by season end they will have equal number of snaps. Now that is what I think they will do... What I would do is... 1. Sign Clowney 2. Cut Murphy 3. Acquire a better backup option at MLB via trade or still available FAs. 4. Give Edmunds 8 more games at MLB. If he is not improving move him to OLB 5. Dial up more safety blitzes. Bills have the corners to hold up in coverage and Edmunds can cover a lot of ground to help in the seondary
  7. Shhhh. Nobody wants to hear that on this board. That said, the defense will get better when the offense puts more points on the board early. That will force more passing by the opponent making them a bit easier to defend and increase turnover opportunities. And in turn a few more turnovers will give the offense more short field scoring chances. As you said, they need more pass rush. Whether that is by scheme or the new guys they brought in or Oliver getting better they need to figure out a way to get more sacks, strip sacks, and pressures.
  8. I agree with your assessment of the team. They have been built much like Belichik built the Patriots - a solid mix of veterans on defense with good middle of the road free agents that were scheme versatile. The guys Beane signed can play anywhere on the line and their corners can hold up in man coverage enough that they don;t have to exclusively play zone. All that said though, the trophy usually goes to the team that has one of the best QBs. There are exceptions like Seattle and Denver recently. They had truly elite defenses. Without an improved pass rush, I don't think this defense can win a championship if Allen doesn't get significantly better. They gave up 19 points in 24 minutes and blew a 16 point lead. 2020 is all on Allen
  9. I've said it since the Houston game. The defense collapsed. The OP is dead on. This team needs a pass rush and these four need to replace some decent players that left. But let's get real. This season is about one player. Josh Allen. He has to show he is a franchise QB.
  10. Same thing is said by every pending fee agent and then they moslty chase the highest dollar. However there are many that take a few less dollars for the right fit - coaching staff, scheme, city. I'm not a hater of Milano I just think he is overrated by this fan base and board. Someone on here called him rangy. Well that's not true at all. He doesn't play man coverage often and he doesn't cover that well. His greatest asset is quickness in small spaces and instinct. To that end he is the exact opposite of Edmunds. He is a good player that has played well enough to earn a big pay day. If they cut Star and Murphy and draft DE in the first round then I'd be fine keeping him. He would be a good player to tag assuming they extend Dawkins and White. Control him for another year and don't commit long term. That frees up more money down the road and gives them two drafts to find his replacement. Otherwise let him walk and get a 3rd round comp pick to replace him. For the record, I'd keep only one between Dawkins and Milano. Not drafting an OT this year means I pay to keep Dawkins even though he is just average. That means a tag for one year or letting Milano walk.
  11. The only reason to trade White is if they need a franchise QB because Allen became a bust. And since this regime passed on Mahommes, I would not trust them to evalaute or develop another rookie QB. All that said, every player including all but a very few elite QBs have a price and if a team overpays you have to listen.
  12. Can we wait until they win a playoff game? I get the excitement and all signs are pointing in the right direction. But if Allen regresses then it will look only worse that McD passed on future MVP QB and Beane used multiple picks to go get Allen.
  13. Very rare and it can be treated if caught early. First identified in kids in NYC then realized world wide. Kids die of influenza every year too. Kids are still low risk but not zero risk and certainly not immune like Trump has said. And that is healthy kids. There are many kids that have comorbidities like obesity, type 1 DM, and immunocompromised. Every family has their unique circumstances. Also the fear people have with COVID-19 is also quite a spectrum from those that think it is a hoax to those that walk around in haz mat suits.
  14. Well the stated strategy is to draft well and sign your own that pan out. We have yet to see them accomplish this. They now have the opportunity with Tre, Dawkins, and Milano. And there is no proof that that strategy even works. The only strategy that consistently works is to find a franchise QB at all/any cost. And the jury is still out on Allen.
  15. I'd pump the brakes a little. He overpaid for Star and Murphy. Signed an over the hill Gore and signed a DB that quit at halftime. Evaluate each move on its own. This is a good move. It puts more money in Diggs' pocket now hopefully avoiding a contract squabble later. Its a good gesture to hopefully avoid future headaches.
  16. I'm a physician. The only part of this post that is even close to accurate is that the athlete's parents would be at more risk. Everything else is wrong. Kids can get infected just as easily as adults. Kids have less symptoms and very low mortality. But kids especially infants can develop a rare inflammatory large blood vessel syndrome that can have lifelong sequela.
  17. Tens of millions of us don't have a career lifespan of only a few years. These guys need the signing bonus money and can't risk harm to their body. For older guys like Star it makes sense. Get some cash and don't beat up your body in the hopes you can still play a few years. For Tre it makes sense because he can get an accrued season without risk of injury prior to his rookie deal being renegotiated. Hope it is just a negotiating ploy but in the end there won't be a season anyways so none of this will matter.
  18. Hasnt it already happened for the last several years? Brady, Brees, Rodgers, Rivers, and Roethlisberger are still top 10 QBs
  19. Patriots built their dynasty on signing middle of the road free agents. If BB stays that wont change
  20. Before the Feliciano injury, Long was not on my final 53. But who is the back-up center now?
  21. He's better at guard than Long but not a backup center.
  22. It depends. If he was masked and the players were masked they don't need to quarantine. Only household members and close contacts would need to be quarantined. Same goes for any occupational exposure. Who gets quarantined is all about what they were wearing and how close they were in contact with the positive person.
  23. Yes he can and will need to. The question is from whom did he get it and did he pass it on to any other staff and players? They will know in about 5 days if others are infected.
  24. I’ve mostly been in the camp of the season is doomed. That said if the wanted to get serious they could do a few things to give them a chance. 1. Delay everything at least 30 days. Send everyone home with masks and trackers. The stats suggest the post 4th of July surge may have crested. An additional 30 days may see community transmission rates falling. 2. Divide the teams up. The Bills know who 20 of the 22 starters are. There is no reason to expose the starters to the other 60 players. 3. Divide them again into offense/defense by time of day and/or site for the majority of days. Again there is no need for defensive players to mingle for film and drills. 4. When full practice is needed everyone gets tested with 24 hours of the practice. 5. Mandate face masks for everyone. It puts everyone on the same level. I don’t think there is any difference in performance with a mask but even any small difference would be mitigated by everyone wearing them. 6. Mandate a minimum of 3 QBs per team put the starting QB in their own quarantine. Every other position can be replaced with a second tier guy except QB.
