  1. Bills 10 (Miami x 2, Jets x 2, LA Rams, Vegas, Den, LA Chargers, New England, San Fran) Pats 9 Miami 8 Jets 2 - I would not be shocked to see them go winless The upcoming schedules are really brutal. I think Buffalo can get to 11 or 12 wins but they will have to beat New England twice to do it or upset two of the following KC, Seattle, or Pittsburgh to do it . I still don't trust this staff going up against Belichick but maybe this is the year.
  2. Nothing wrong with talking about areas needing improvement even after a win. In fact it is the heart of the Lean management or the Toyota Management System which is what McD is using. It is a bedrock principle - continuous improvement. But it's easier to blame the refs on this board.
  3. You are spot on. The defense choked the Houston victory away. Their stats last year showed they were a slightly above average team taking away the ball. They didn't give up a lot of yards and did not give up many points. Points matter most but there is also context to that. Holding the other team to a FG but letting them possess the ball for 8 minutes and not forcing turnovers matters a lot. Their rank last year was due at least in some part to the schedule. To give them the benefit of the doubt though, they are integrating many new faces into the front 7 and I suspect Milano and Edmunds were not 100% We will see. It is still early and I will be happy to admit I'm wrong. For what it is worth they gave him number 57 so maybe they see him as more hybrid DE than we think not that the jersey number means anything.
  4. They already have a top 10 WR and they added like 6 other offensive players in the draft just not at WR. I would not have taken Love but it's erroneous to say they did nothing to help Rodgers this year.
  5. Probably not but it would be worth a phone call. Time away from the game and teammates may be motivating for him. Playing on a winning team might be worthwhile. Beane has taken chances with other guys too - Pryor comes to mind. Low risk to bring him in for a workout. For what it is worth he is still the #2 rated DT left in free agency. Now that is not saying much but you don't have to give up anything to sign him.
  6. Safeties get interceptions from tipped passes, deflections, and bad throws from the QB generated by the pass rush. They are rarely asking him to cover a WR, TE, or RB in man coverage. The front 7 is the problem. Let's not overthink this. The front 7 couldn't stop the run and they didn't get to Goff without a blitz. Everything in this response is spot on!
  7. He ran a 5.04 40 time and dropped out of the first round because people questioned his ability to rush the passer in the NFL. But he chased Goff down nicely yesterday. Maybe he will be better than I think. He sat week 1 but has increased his playing time quite a bit from week two to week 3. I'd be happy with 15 sacks between him and Murphy by year's end.
  8. Epenesa is a run stuffing DE. They have not drafted an EDGE rusher except in the 7th round last year. I didn't like the Oliver pick at the time (wanted trade up for Josh Allen) but he has shown some promise as an interior rusher.
  9. Bills didn't take their foot off anything. The Rams moved the ball at will most of the game. Levi and Milano made two really nice plays in the first half. Tip your hat to them. They have a great offense. But I thought our defense was supposed to be elite? It isn't anywhere close to elite. There are major issues at MLB and the most of the DL. Will they be exposed by lesser teams? Probably not. They play disciplined football on the back end which means they don't get beat deep often. As much as I want Edmunds to be moved outside and don't think he is a great MLB, he will play better than he did against the Rams. He lacks consistency but he is a better player than what he showed on the field yesterday - maybe the shoulder is worse than we thought. They will face some elite offenses later in the year - KC, Seattle, Arizona. Those teams have flaws too though. And now the Bills have an offense that can score with any team in the league. I will harp again. They need pass rushers. They don't get enough pressure on the QB and therefore they don't get enough turnovers. They are old at DE and small at DT. Beane needs to spend some draft capital and try to get a player to add to the front 7.
  10. Apparently accuracy can be taught/improved. It helps that the WRs have had only a few drops all year so far and have made some amazing grabs.
  11. I know it's a punchline on this board but if we look beyond the guy that said it, it is mostly true. The defense got gashed today, but look at the scores around the league. 13 teams scored 30 or more points and four of them lost. Through three games the offenses appear ahead of the defenses. Is that lack of hitting in camp and no pre-season? The NFL has adopted much of what works well in college on offense and NFL defenses don't have much of an answer. So let's take a moment and recognize the Bills are 3-0 and have made huge strides in a short time. Allen is a star. A reckless one at times but a true star. Daboll is getting guys wide open even as he finds the right balance of run/pass with Allen and the entire offense The drops that plagued this team for years have been replaced with amazing catches. The WR group is the best in the NFL only two years removed from the absolute worst. Team penalties are much improved. McD has been more aggressive and his clock management has gotten better. The defense even while getting gashed and giving up chunks has not given up huge scoring plays. On to Vegas and an important AFC game.
  12. Well it would help if Morse snapped the ball when the defenders jump. Twice Allen got them in the neutral zone and no snap. They didn't jump enough to make contact but enough to get a free play.
  13. Yes. Yeldon was better than Gore and he is better than Moss. Devin had 4.8 YPC compared to 2.8 YPC behind the same line. And before you say anything about fumbles, Yeldon has a 0.009 fumble rate compared to Gore 0.011 and Singletary 0.019. Yeldon should be playing. Let Moss watch for a few more weeks at least.
  14. In 2018 McD took over the defensive play calling for a half a game to shake things up.
  15. OP premise is incorrect as Kroft had possession of the ball. Perera pointed that out and it was just a bad call.
  16. Devin was great. Moss is too slow. Should be Yeldon and Singletary the rest of the year. Even if they are stubborn and want Moss playing it should be a 75/25 split on touches.
  17. 3rd and 22 to Beasley Diggs catch on the sideline - one of the best passes Allen has ever thrown TD pass to Lee Smith. That was going to be a tackle eligible but the Bills player on the left side got tangled up with the defense. Josh stayed with it and made the play to Smith look easy. Milano sack - I give Milano a lot of crap and still don't think they should sign him long term but that was a perfectly executed play that often ends up in the QB sidestepping an out of control rusher. Very nicely done. 3rd and forever pass to Diggs to set up 4th and 9
  18. Yeah that was really close. A fraction of a second faster and that is a pick 6. He read it perfectly. Can't fault him too much though. It was a great tackle for loss against the best YAC WR in the game.
  19. Tre is the least of their problems. No pass rush all day except on a nicely execute blitz by Milano. Running right at Harrison, Epenesa, and Murphy for huge chunks of yardage is a major problem.
  20. It was a desperation heave and he would not have caught it if he did not shove the DB in the back.
  21. In three years not one reporter has ever asked McD or Beane if they would consider moving him outside.
  22. We all want Edmunds to succeed. I thought he had a chance to be a great linebacker when they drafted him. We have used his age as an excuse for three seasons now. He will never be a truly great middle linebacker. He just lacks the instincts. They have no other options this year but they need to make a change in 2021. For 2021 he should be moved to OLB/edge and they should draft or sign a replacement middle line backer. I think he would be an All-Pro at OLB.
  23. At first I thought Dawkins got wind knocked out as he fell. But it also looks like he got knee to head so more worried about a concussion.
  24. Yup! Said it last year and was told to look at the stats. #2 in yards and points. But they played a terrible schedule and collapsed in the playoffs. This defense needs help soon. They are too old at DE and too small at DT. Bad combination playing in front of a MLB that still can't figure out where to be.
  25. No idea what you are talking about. I said the PI call was a gift in the moment but when I saw the replay I agree it was a good call. It could have gone the other way. If that call was against the Bills we would be screaming the WR initiated the contact all the way down the field. The INT call was nuts. Not sure what they saw on the field to even call it an INT and certainly did not see a replay that showed Kroft losing possession of the ball to the DB.
