Geno Smith signing 3 year, 105 mil deal
Ethan in Cleveland replied to bills6969's topic in The Stadium Wall
Great for him. He kept working at his job and when opportunity presented itself, he seized the day. Great story. Hope he continues to play well. -
One year rental. Who cares long term
-
Sure it does. Oliver isn't that good and as you saw in the SuperBowl playing defense is pointless. They need multiple weapons on defense and it would not be a long term commitment. Makes perfect sense.

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-11821055/Americas-best-city-singles-revealed-residents-say-dont-effort.html It's the offseason and we are still two weeks from free agency. I'm tired of discussing McD, Edmunds, and the O-line. Thought this would be a nice distraction. I'm happily married for 20 years. I'm much more likely to be in a high end restaurant or the theatre than a bar. What say you single guys and ladies? Is Buffalo a happening spot for singles?

Jackson Mahomes Sexual Assault(Update)Arrested

Not with video. He is guilty and a pig Not sure if you are joking. Both are crimes. -
A good signing but I'm hoping with draft and free agency they can do better. If he was the last oline to make the team it would be fine. He's cheap. Knows the system.

Good signing. Hope he is a training camp cut. They should be able to find better but he is decent insurance policy.

You won't know when it's our time
Ethan in Cleveland replied to Mikie2times's topic in The Stadium Wall
14-4, sure. As I see it however they were 1-1 in the playoffs. Everyone said just get home field advantage and it will be a SuperBowl run. It wasn't. They were losing at home in the second half to a 3rd string Miami QB. McD and his staff were outcoached by not just Andy Reid but now by Dolphins and Bengals staffs. Injuries played a massive role last year. It's the only excuse McD has for yet another failure. But there were no long term injuries on the o-line. That unit was just bad. They have a few holes to fill but if they make wise choice to invest in oline and let Edmunds walk even this staff might not be enough to prevent Allen from winning it all. Pittsburgh and Detroit won 9 with journeymen. And of course San Francisco and Seattle made playoffs without franchise QBs. -

What are you talking about? We can't win playoff games with Allen. McD has beaten a washed up Phillip Rivers, noodle arm Mac Jones, and almost lost to a 3rd string Miami QB. His defense has risen to the occasion once in the playoffs against Baltimore. After that epic collapses against Texans, Chiefs x 2, and now the Bengals. Without Allen this team would be lucky to win 6 games. -
Who Will Be Next Year's Scapegoat?

And Kelce is the best TE ever. So he has a #1 weapon just not a WR. -
Beane Doubles Down On His Belief In Davis
Ethan in Cleveland replied to H2o's topic in The Stadium Wall
Two things can be true. I think Davis is a good player and may very well be better in 2023. They still need to add a WR. Diggs is not getting any younger. WR production falls off with age just not as precipitously as at RB. They need a new WR if for nothing than to hedge against being unable to pay Davis. -

Don't you love how McD always says "and that starts with me", but it never ends with him???? I've been a McD skeptic for years. He is likely a wonderful person and has very admirable qualities. But like Coach Beard said in Ted Lasso winning matters. These players are professionals. Relationships and culture are fine if you win. If you don't win it doesn't matter. Nobody on the team liked Jim Kelly all the way to four SuperBowl appearances. You think anyone really likes Bill Belichick? If the Hamlin incident had not occurred and the Bills lost in the division round again I would have fired the entire coaching staff and started over. I would have given Beane a two year window with a new coach to make it to the SuperBowl. The Hamlin incident reset the clock for me. Now McDermott is SuperBowl or bust this year. I'm glad Leslie is gone and all eyes on the defense will be staring at McDermott. I truly hope he takes us to a championship. Like I said he seems like a nice human being. I would be happy for him. Do I think he will?. No. Am I willing to wait any longer. No. 2023 SuperBowl appearance or he should be fired. And no I don't care about 13 wins in the regular season. I care only about a ring. Most of us on here lived through the four SuperBowls and settling for losing in the playoffs is not good enough. -
So Who will our next DC be? Tracker Links

Frazier is not under contract. Why do you think he would come back to Buffalo a year from now? He won't be back. Bills don't want him and he can go wherever he wants. McD better call the plays. No more excuses. -
McD just scapegoated another. Last year it was the special teams guy and this year it is Frazier. I want McD calling the defense in 2023. Posted that a while back. I want no excuses of who to blame when this fraud defense gets shredded in the playoffs again. Our only hope is Allen gets healthy, Beane takes over full control of the draft and rebuilds the oline and Dorsey gets better.

This is a great thread. Nice job OP. Started following in 1980. I have a few 1. The 1980 Dolphins goal posts coming down 2. Ferguson playing on a bum ankle against the Chargers 3. Bills clinch AFC in OT against the Jets - I've posted many times how I was there that day 4. Kelly QB draw on last play against the Dolphins If I have to narrow it down to one play, it is Kelly scoring at Miami on the last play. That play and all the good and bad ones to follow would define my reality for years to come.

Of course trading up and taking Allen was the most impactful. But I'd argue the decision on Edmunds will have repercussions for years. There are so many options. Sign him long term and spread out the cap hit to a player that at best has had an inconsistent impact since entering the NFL. Even spreading out the can hit, it will still commit massive resources to the two linebackers. Tag and force him to play under the tag. Tag and trade. Simply let him walk. This next decision may ultimately make or break Beane's career. The window to tag a player has already opened and a decision must be made by March 7th. Should be an interesting week ahead.

Stevie Johnson vs Darrelle Revis Doyle won't make the roster. He was awful before the ACL. He might not even make it out of OTAs
-
To be fair to Beane, and I rarely am, the O-line looked really good the last 6 weeks of 2022. Singletary was running well and they were scoring at will. Dawkins was playing the best football of his career. McDermott took too long to start Bates. Beane matched an offer sheet for Bates that almost everyone on here agreed with. Most thought Q was a good depth signing. Four things happened. 1. Dawkins regressed 2. Beane didn't draft any young talent 3. Brown didn't get better and maybe got worse 4. Saffold after a couple decent games really sucked. I think the board was pretty mixed on his signing.
