Win: McDermott puts on masterclass on how to slow down Ravens offense. Lose: McDermott Defense lays another egg in playoff loss.
-
I just saw a video posted by Dan Orlovsky, of the 6 oline, 2TE and FB offense. We can probably count Ricard as oline number 7. Pitt for some reason, even with 0 WR's on the field, playing 2 high, and a 3rd defender, pretty far back as well. With that look, we wouldn't you implement a goal line defense. Dan O, even says, that the O is basically a goaline offense formation. I've also seen a lot of discussion about playing Dorian, at the expense of Taron. We need to have a package that puts our 11 best defensive players on the field against the Ravens. I would rather had look with Taron over Hamlin. I understand that Taron is not a safety, but the defense is all about zones. I think we get stuck on titles a little too much at times.

I know right. Let's hope the Ravens win the toss.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I strongly feel like we have to start the game with back to back TD drives, and hold them to no more than 10pts. In no other game, is setting the tone as important as in this one.

No Flowers at practice today. Ooops, already posted above. I will only say, that I hope we have an ultra-aggressive game plan. We played passive to start and got torched the last time. No Flowers, allows you to crank it up a bit.

This is a 4.7 guy, don't see how he has the quicks to emulate Lamar in practice. Why not KJ Hamler? I mean, the coaches obviously know better, but that's just my take.

What % of the plays will we play 3 LBs on Sunday?
Allen2Moulds replied to NewEra's topic in The Stadium Wall
Dorian Williams is far and away the most explosive LB we have. If he had Milano's instincts, he'd be an all-pro already. -

I know I'm in the miniority here, and also know that he's not known to be a run stuffer. But every time Jordan Philips is in the game, he gets push up the middle. The dude is 6'6" 340lbs. If Oliver gets pushed around like the last game, I would like to see Philips eat into his snaps. Go ahead...I'm ready for ya to kill for me for this suggestion. -

Broncos, Ravens, Chiefs - Can the Bills run through this gauntlet.
Allen2Moulds replied to Chaos's topic in The Stadium Wall
It's highly unlikely the Bengals make the playoffs. Broncos are playing the Chiefs jv team next week. The path I Broncos, Ravens, Chiefs. -
The fact that there is as many as 8 to pick from, is pretty incredible. What a time to be a Bills fan. I don't know if we'll win the SB, but I'm making sure to enjoy the ride.

Hiring a Clock management specialist

It should've been 3 pass plays, but I also understand the call. Even if the scrum takes 20-25 seconds to sort out, it's still less than burning 40 seconds with your last timeout. I hate to even say it, but we would've got the ball back with what, 20 seconds? Anything beats zero. Like many have said, once you lineup for the onside kick, the game is over. McDermott said that once he didn't get in, neither remaining option was a good one. That being said, you have to do, what saves you the most time. For as good as McDermott has been, it is baffling, that he totally melts down at the end of these clock management moments. How can a casual fan/observed know what to do in that situation, but he doesn't? -
Last year, after he signed his big deal, he seemed to be walking around with a chip on his shoulder. I got the impression, that he heard all the chatter, questioning whether or not he deserved/earned that deal. Doesn't seem to be playing with that same chip on his shoulder. Last year, it seemed like the Bills correctly projected what he would be. This year, Ed seems to be validating the doubts that the naysayers had. Hopefully he turns it on down the stretch, but idk.

An absolute disaster by the coaches at the end of this game
Allen2Moulds replied to Success's topic in The Stadium Wall
I totally agree, McDermott in critical moments, makes bad decisions. 4th and 7, and youopt for the penalty yards instead? My son and I were both in shock. I bet he wishes he had those seconds back. Follows that up by calling that timeout, and ending the game. Again, Josh Allen plays a historic game, and McDermott makes sure to drop the ball at the end. Twice!! -
Good read, a lot of good info/analysis. Thanks for posting. I agree with how you feel and point to 2 things, that has me feeling encouraged. 1. Improved physicality in the trenches. I was upset with them letting Morse go but now believe that this starting 5 is better than last years. I'm not expert, but only assume it's because it's the continued excellence of Aaron Kromer. I think McGovern is also a more physical player than Morse, which allowed us to make a mini shift there. I believe it was Chris Simms that said, that the Chiefs feared our running game, and played us as such. Teams now have to play us as honest as they ever had to, and it's making us nearly unstoppable in that lower redzone area, where most teams struggle. 2. This WR group is not the best we've had but seems to be built for January football. Although elite in his prime, Diggs was not excelling in the playoffs. Playoff football is a different brand, that requires physicality over finesse, hence Diggs lack of production, especially in the KC games. Amari Cooper is not known for being physical, but if you watch him, his blend of speed and power is extremely difficult to contend with, or slow down. Keon is an upgrade over Gabe, and thrives in these physical matchups, and Khalil Shakir is the best YAC guy we've had, and an upgrade over Beasley. The only thing missing is the John Brown deep threat, but Coop does just enough to keep teams honest, along with Keon and his 50/50 ability.

What did you think of that golf clap by Kelce?

Maybe he was but hurt about his girlfriend not being there. I can't believe she expects us to cheer for her or something....psst. -

Him and Josh are buddies. It could've honestly been a sign of respect. But I honestly don't know, or don't know much about the golf claps history. -
Terrel Bernard Defensive Player of the Week!
Allen2Moulds replied to bills742's topic in The Stadium Wall
TB is a special player, and doesn't get enough recognition. Out of all the players that were out during the playoff game last year, I told my son going in, that he was the one player we needed the most. I forget who, but I believe it was Orlovsky who watched the tape, and said that TB was calling out the plays, and knew exactly what KC was going to do, before they did it. Mentioned that TB got upset with Taron on the TD, because he knew what was going to happen before it happened. This is what makes me feel different about us going forward with a true QB on defense. My intent wasn't to bash Edmunds, but since others are still defending him, I have to say, that Edmunds was the def of average. Elite Physical traits, but below average instincts = average linebacker. Yes.....he took up space, but more is needed out of the QB of your defense, so much more. -
Jon Gruden now employed by Barstool Sports

I totally agree with you. I was friends with the beat writer for the Bucs, and there were countless stories about players and coaches getting back stabbed. Players around the league talk. I think it's why he waited so long to return.
