  1. This is where I am. The KC game is hard to shake. Especially when you consider that they have a below average line. That was the one spot where we were suppose to have a clear advantage. It seems like he was on the ground, everything the camera was on him. He was awful.
  2. Maybe I'm being a little harsh, but I was expecting his size to be more of a factor in the playoffs. He had 3 catches on 8 targets for 22yds, in 3 playoff games. He also did very little to shake the narrative, that he struggles to separate. I do think he has the potential to be a solid number 2, but that is not what we were looking for. From what I saw, it seems like we overdrafted him. Played more like a 3rd rounder in my opinion. I don't see him as a difference maker. Listen to both Beane and McDermotts presser from yesterday. They were also disappointed in Keon.
  3. I agree with all of this. I believe what has hurt us the most, and the primary reason we lack difference makers, is Beane's draft approach, particularly in the 1st round. As much as he says it's BPA, it sure doesn't seem that way. Every year he uses the 1st round pick, on our biggest need for that year. As a result, we are missing out on superior talent at other positions. Last year was a very good DB class, and it fell favorably for teams that went that route. I believe Quinyon Mitchell, was the first defensive player taken, all the way at pick 22. As a rookie, already looks like a top 5 corner. Beane always says that if a guy sticks out on their board, they will move up to try and grab him. I only bring that up, because now, not only do we still have a hole at WR, because Coleman seems like he was a big miss, but we also have a hole at DB. Furthermore, because we missed, we had to spend a 3rd round mid-season for Cooper, due to our poor drafting. I'm extremely disappointed and have lost a lot of confidence in Beane's drafting ability, at least with our early picks. He really needs to stop forcing the need picks and truly go BPA. It now has unfortunately reached the point, where we have more holes than we should, or a team full of average guys.
  4. The one thing that sticks out to me with Beane's drafts is this. Beane claims that early in the draft, he goes BPA, and that later in the draft, is more when they go position by position. But if you look at his draft history, it actually suggests the opposite. He seems to always force the issue in the 1st with attacking an area of need vs. Truly going bpa. I think this is why he does better in 2-7, vs. The first round.
  5. Agreed they have players all over, but the driving force of their entire defense, is Jalen Carter. He was regarded as the best player in the draft, but due to off field questions, he slipped to I believe to 9. We had the same opportunity when we drafted Oliver, over a guy like DT Simmons. Last year it was Cooper Dejean, who was mocked over and over to the Bills. We passed on him for Coleman, and thought there was a chance we would still land him if we were aggressive, and traded back into the 2nd round, but again the Eagles cashed in. As good as Beane is, there is a major gap between Beane and Howie Roseman. Honestly could be a big gap between Roseman and the rest of the league.
  6. Our defense needs a face-lift. We still lack speed and athleticism, and size/strength in our front 7. I think we all saw the potential our defense has with an elite pass rusher (von pre acl), and believe we have to go all out to land a premier pass rusher. We need to start treating it like a QB. If we don't have this, nothing else matters. It's a lot easier to plug any other hole on defense through FA, or even day 2/3 of the draft. The dline is the final thing to fix, to finally get over the hump. It took way too long to build an oline good enough to win the SB. Now it's time to do the same with the dline. Let's not wait another 5 years, or it'll be over for us.
  7. Let me clarify. Bills Mafia knows how great Moulds was, but I don't think the rest of the NFL does. When I talk to friends of other teams, unless you closely follow the Dolphins, most don't even know who he was, or kind of heard of him. I always end with....he still owns most receiving yds in a single playoff game all-time.
  8. Trade for premier pass rusher, and it's not even close. I don't have much faith in us drafting an impact DE or DT. That being said, I feel like this is the order of importance: -DE1 -Boundary WR with elite speed -Run stuffing DT/Daquon Jones replacement -CB2 with CB1 upside to replace Douglas
  9. Fair enough. Don't get me started on that 3rd and 5 screen. At least to Cooper. I would have preferred a quick slant, or something else, where we are on the move. Same thing with the last play. Spags has a long history of being ultra aggressive in key moments. We had no answers for that blitz. I don't like that Shakir lined up 11 yards behind the line of scrimmage, basically taking our best weapon out the play. Amari was running 1yd drag route, and 2rd receiver was running a 3yd drag. No slants on the play. No matter who we add in the offseason, we have to get better at situational football. Different teams/circumstances, but at the end of the day, 2 years in a row when the game is on the line. The Chiefs defense have put their foot on our neck on the last drive of the game, the way they do against everyone else.
  10. Tell that to the 4th and 5 play that left Josh and our entire line confused. KC blitz 2 guys I believe, and 3 got through. Online whiffed on 2 of them. Not to say we don't need better Jimmy and Joe's, but I believe you are over simplifying it. If that's the case, the bust rate for QBs, would be far less than what it is. Within a single formation, tons of wrinkles can be added. That being said, there's nothing that excites me about this hire.
  11. I don't track any specific books, but all-over social media, they're saying that the odds flipped back into Allen's favor. That says Vegas knows.
  12. I appreciate your analysis. The part I didn't add, was the cost of still filling that same hole. Let's say we use another second this year, on what we perceive to be our future #1 guy, it would be 2 2's and a 3, and you're still not likely to get a guy that's in the same tier as Thomas. At some point we need to add some difference makers. Not just another guy. Keon to me, is just another guy, and wasn't worth our 1st pick last year. However, I will say that I did love the Bishop pick, and if he turns into the difference maker we think he has the potential to become, you totally win the argument. I have to admit, that I'm probably still living in the moment. But we still do need to get Allen that big weapon. That to me, should be non negotiable.
  13. Of course all these teams ultimately filled holes, but unless they all landed the one guy they coveted, a deal could be had We see it every year, the main thing is being willing to pay the price. So now, we spent our first pick on a WR, spent a 3rd during the season on another WR, and yet he we are still needing a WR. If you add it all up, it adds up to more than the cost of trading up.
  14. Actually you can see by my handle, who I would've loved. Eric Mould was such a complete and underrated player I will also add that it makes me sick, we didn't make a move to land Thomas. Bash me for criticizing Beane, but that was a really big miss.
  15. I agree, Desean Jackson is an all-time great, when we're talking about deep threats. To answer the OP's question, I would say the ideal guy, is a less injury prone Tee Higgins. Speed threat with size and length.
  16. Give them an offer they can't refuse
  17. That's fair, I can't disagree, but I will say that the consensus is t at overall they have the better roster by about 5-6 players. Besides the tackle, and RB position, I think they have the edge in pretty much all the position groups. Keller is aging, but is still there, also Rashee Rice tore his ACL, but has to factored in. Also, as much as it pains me to say, Worthy was a difference maker for them, Keon was completely washed out and non existent against both Balt and KC.
  18. I think it's obvious that KC has the coaching advantage. Reid and Spags are both superior and prob both the best at what they do. That being said, I think Veach's roster building is far superior to Beane. I think the gap there is a little bigger.
  19. Yes and no. I mean some is McDermott, and some is Allen, but if there is someone that needs to step up the most out of the 3, it would need to be Beane. Beane is excellent at drafting quality players, but is lacking of the upper tier/difference makers. Drafted Coleman......c'mon Beane, you say you are antsy and aggressive during the draft. Where was that when KC jumped you, and stuck you with Elam? Or this year when Thomas slipped all the way to 23, and you didn't go get him? Many of us on this board saw it. And seemed like it was a perfect match with Allen. Coleman was a head scratcher and still is. Kincaid was also a headscratcher, given what Knox was being paid.
  20. No, we need more. Here are the 1st pick in each of the last 4 rounds. Elam - Bust Rosseau- average Kincaid - average Coleman- below average. These are the guys that are suppose to make the difference in the biggest games, and are often no shows or invisible. That's why draft picks are overrated sometimes, if you have an opportunity to go after an impact player at a key position.
  21. It's almost like they got a little lazy/arrogant. As others stated, you always have to have a counter ready number 1. And no.2, why not have a bigger/stronger body pushing Allen. The Shakir thing is the cute kind of thing that almost always blows up in your face. This one thing arguably cost us the game. Not only on the 4th down play, but also on the 2pt conversion. It potentially cost us 10pts. They also can't use the fail proof argument, because Baltimore stopped it the week before. That should of set off some alarms, to be ready with the necessary adjustments.
  22. You don't think that if we gave Allen to the Chiefs, this same thing would be happening? Coaching does matter, and not only do we have Reid to deal with, but Spags is also elite at his job. Supporting cast as well. Chiefs have at least 3 players going to the HOF, if not more.
  23. He was the most painful to watch last night. Seems like he was constantly on the ground. We had zero outside contain, on a lot of key plays. He was so bad, that it almost washes out, all the good we saw during the season.
  24. That is the over simplified take, and admittedly I felt like that initially, but after I let things settled, it came down to (2) things. We got outcoached and outmanned. But I put a bit more of the responsibility on Beane. We've had the same shortcomings, a couple years in a row. For those that say he should of thrown it to Shakir on that last play, hasn't watched the play closely enough. When the first guy closes quickly on Allen, Shakir is very far from the sticks, and likely gets tackled short. He made an amazing effort to avoid and give his pass catcher a chance. I know it wasn't an easy ball to catch, but as a first round TE, in a conf championship game, you have to come down with that ball. Those are championship moments. I immediately thought of the Diggs drop last year.
  25. I'll get bashed for this, because we're only allowed to criticize McDermott and not Bean, but his return on investment right now, when it comes to Dline and pass catchers, is not very good. Kincaid was a 1st round pick, playing more like a 4th/5th rounder, and Coleman can't separate against anyone. How is it a good idea, to draft a WR that can't separate. Beane is not a good evaluator when it comes to these 2 positions. He's going to need to delegate this to someone. I don't know.
