Where was the leadership - Von Miller?
Nextmanup replied to Returntoglory's topic in The Stadium Wall
Stefon Diggs is the ONLY player I saw ALL GAME LONG who seemed really, really angry about the fact that his season was ending, and in terrible fashion. It was mentioned on the radio this morning that the ENTIRE TEAM, post-game, seemed strangely calm and at peace with the whole thing, like no one was really pissed off. It was suggested that maybe the realization had hit earlier in the game, and so by the time of the post-game PCs, they were more at peace with it. Or something. I thought it was weird. Maybe the team was truly emotionally spent in this weird year.... But don't be confused, we got whipped by a better team all over the field. We will need a bunch of changes and upgrades to avoid a fairly substantial regression next year! -
Bills players were done with this year
Nextmanup replied to Billzgobowlin's topic in The Stadium Wall
I've seen enough of Gabe Davis. I thought he would slot nicely into a #2 guy. Nope! He's not GOOD enough; he's not CONSISTENT enough---and we now KNOW that. I would be looking to move on from him. To name one guy; I would definitely part with Edmunds, Oliver, and the entire DL can be considered replaceable at this point. Keep Von, but he'll be getting injured every year at his age. -
Would love to see a double coordinator change, I don't think either will go. I hope I'm wrong. As I've been saying for 2 years now, the day WILL COME when Pegula has to decide if McDermott is good enough. Either he's here forever already, or he has to prove he can get it done. The decision will NOT come this year; maybe next year. If no SB appearance next year, the heat will build.

I've come to accept our offensive scheme relies on Allen too much
Nextmanup replied to Big Turk's topic in The Stadium Wall
If there weren't concerns about the offense going down the stretch, why the heck did they re-sign fossils like Brown and Beasley? And more importantly, why did they think those additions would help? -
They owe you fans their entire careers. In the case of a guy like McDermott, that also means his life. His job is his life. Without fans there is no NFL and the 7 figure salaries go bye-bye. Then it's back to being a 7th grade gym teacher for most of these guys.

I agree the weather did impact the game, quite a bit! But we would have gotten our butts kicked in a dome today too.

Who are you rooting for next week? Cincy or KC?
Nextmanup replied to Draconator's topic in The Stadium Wall
That's a great and passable idea for a horror script. -
It may get him killed, but Josh's running is a HUGE part of what makes Josh, Josh. It's not that way at all with Burrow. If Josh gets hurt running, so be it. He should be doing it routinely, it's a part of his value to the team. One of many flaws in this game today is that he didn't run nearly enough.

Josh looked really defeated in his press conference.

J. Howard Marshall. That's pretty impotent, especially if you consider that he died in 1995! -
Better team comp - early to mid 2000's Colts?
Nextmanup replied to bigfootindy's topic in The Stadium Wall
Speaking of getting our opponent on home turf... 🤔 Since you seem to be good at this sort of thing, would you consider whipping up a chart showing head coach, OC, and DC names over the same period of time? I could look each season up but I'm lazy. I wonder if Indy did a lot of coordinator change during that time---or none! I assume it was all Tony Dungy the whole time as HC too. The similarities really are remarkable. Thing is, the one doesn't have much to do with the other. -
This is an interesting and well thought out take, likely hated by most people here. So here's a question for you, but I think I know the answer. Would you swap Josh Allen straight up for Joe Burrow this offseason, if you could?

Post-game thoughts after a disappointing loss
Nextmanup replied to Logic's topic in The Stadium Wall
This entire post is the best thing I've read here today/tonight. Having a defensive coordinator masquerading as your head coach is always going to be a problem, however. He is ALWAYS going to be D first. It's just how he thinks and what's in his blood. You'll notice all other teams playing this weekend are coached by offensive guys! -
So...is it a rebuild or is it a try again?
Nextmanup replied to Hebert19's topic in The Stadium Wall
Definitely don't want Edmunds signed, nor do we have the money for that. I think that will be a defining moment with this administration. If they are as smart as I think, Edmunds is gone. Having said that, Beane screwed up the Knox deal, big time. -
Franchise in trouble- Josh Allen has regressed
Nextmanup replied to RoscoeParrish's topic in The Stadium Wall
I have always thought that McDermott is actually superior to Beane on the flow chart. That's not totally unusual for NFL teams; it would be pretty unheard of in the NHL, but that's a different culture. But I have never read anything discussing this in definite terms. -
It's nuts to suggest the whole game would have been different if Allen had hit that early pass to Diggs. That's 1 play. If he had, it would have been a TD. He overthrew him and that was that. Has no impact on the game as a whole. Josh was not good today. He was confused. He wasn't finding targets to throw to. I'm not sure why, as we can't see downfield on TV.

I'm all in favor of addressing the O line, after we have secured our #2 WR. Unless they want to get that through free agency. The DL has hogged enough of our draft picks with this administration. They are terrible at it. Changes need to be made, but they don't get big draft capital to do it.
-
In that case, you should be the happiest man in America. Dallas manages to be on national TV just about every week of the season, and they go to the obligatory shot of the old man up in the box about 50 times a game.
-
Aren't you in Australia in the middle of summer? 🤔 Eagles have been my pick to play us (oops) in the SB all year long. They are probably the best all around team in the NFL this year.
-
This thread (and many like it) are started by the kool aid drinkers who are all GONE RIGHT NOW because they always jump ship when things don't go well. He is not elite; he is probably an easy upgrade but that won't happen b/c he was hand picked by this administration and moving on from him amounts to an admission of failure.

So...is it a rebuild or is it a try again?
Nextmanup replied to Hebert19's topic in The Stadium Wall
This sounds crazy to me. Check out our record over the last 3 years. We don't need, and will not have, a "Rebuild." We'll have plenty of tweaks but all teams do from year to year. The "Super Bowl Era Bills" were nothing close to the same rosters year to year to year. There will be changes and some changes need to be made. I'm in favor of replacing either or both coordinators; I think both are easy upgrades...but we probably won't. -
Honestly, these 2 teams were so mismatched today, I don't think something like that would have altered the outcome of the game. He also just flat out drops balls that hit him in the hands.
-
Big fan, huh? You sound like my brother in law. If the team is great and on TV, he might watch for a few minutes. If we are bad, he'll go entire seasons without knowing a thing about the team. He's a casual fan. Nothing wrong with that, but some of us give a crap more about this team.
-
I'm from the T of T too! The fact that we could have won those games is what made them worse...much worse...than today. We got our butts handed to us today. This one hurts, no doubt, but nothing CLOSE to 13 seconds!
-
They certainly shouldn't need to overhaul the D line. They have put an awful lot of draft capital into that thing! And it's terrible.... Lots of draft misses all over the roster. It's the one knock on Beane I can think of. Oh, the Knox deal was a mistake too.
