I said this last year after the 13 seconds game, and even the year before that! The day WILL COME when Pegula will have to ask if McD is good enough. It wasn't going to come 2 years ago, not last year, and it won't come THIS year either....but it will come. I.E., if the SB doesn't materialize, Pegula will have to decide if what McD brings to the franchise is good enough, or if he wants to win it all. Winning franchises sometimes fire head coaches (in all sports) after WINNING SEASONS, if goals aren't met. I don't think making it to the playoffs consistently will be enough, indefinitely. Of course (as I have said for years now) if McD DOES put it together and wins a SB before he is fired, he'll here forever. And I mean for his entire career.

I’m over this defensive scheme. Bring in a new DC.

TO suggest this game had a damned thing to do with Von's absence is absolutely ridiculous. The guy doesn't play many snaps anyway, and when he does, he is almost always nicely neutralized by the opposing right tackle, in a one-on-one battle that doesn't open anything else up for other DLmen. Sure, he'll do something great once in the game, and then everyone says "Oh, there's Miller; he's a great player!" He's way overrated at this stage in his career; all big named edge rushers are over-rated. They don't consistently do enough that directly results in WINS. Keep Von, I'll take a stud Diggs-type #2 WR this off-season, please. We scored 10 points today! Against a great QB and great offense with maybe the best WR corps in the league. That ain't gonna get it done! -

Why not? I think he proved, over a 17 game season and post-season that his performance can be improved upon. There has to be someone out there better. Maybe one of the people being fired this year could replace him, including HCs? -
Post-game thoughts after a disappointing loss
Nextmanup replied to Logic's topic in The Stadium Wall
How in the world could the tank be on "E" for a game of this magnitude? Come on man. This is football. It's about physicality and being out performed. The Bengals owned us today. It has nothing to do with emotions or being flat. It has to do with being whipped at the game of football. The question which has to be answered is why? Why did we get killed? Just a bad matchup? Do we need to alter our roster to better jibe with the Bengals? Would they beat us like this 4 out of 5 times? Could be beat them just as badly on another day? What flaws does this expose about the franchise going forward, generally, if any? I feel like a number of good teams on their game in the playoffs were destined to whip us this year, because we haven't been playing good enough football for about 8 or 9 games now. The team that ended up doing it was the Bengals. With Tua and a healthy squad, it would probably have been Miami last week. It could have been Philly or San Fran in the big dance (both those teams right now would destroy us), it could also have been KC. Next year another team or 2 might joint that list. We need to get better and built around performance in the playoffs. And it should be assumed the weather will be crap, for what that's worth. -
Franchise in trouble- Josh Allen has regressed
Nextmanup replied to RoscoeParrish's topic in The Stadium Wall
That's not really true though. He looked great when we annihilated Tennessee early in the year, and there was a game a few weeks ago when he put the whole damned team on his back. I honestly can't remember which one right now! But has he had a general regression this year on aggregate? YES! Is that because of the new OC? Can that be improved next year with a new OC? Or more time with Dorsey? I think he misses a lot of open receivers, but it's hard to tell watching on TV. -
Ironically, we get our butts kicked by Cincinnati, who had to fire a VERY successful head coach to get where they are now. Do we have another:

Diggs is known to be feisty and he has that WR prima donna thing in him. He's mad that we played like crap and our season ended in this way. I agree this is not the right way to behave, but it just means he really gives a darn, which I LOVE.

I have already started a thread and the darting out of the locker room thing was referenced in it.

Well his regular season numbers have been fantastic with the Bills! Has he publicly stated that he's all about a ring at this point or something like that? He should be here next year. The thing is, we need a Diggs #2; it's our biggest need IMO; I've been saying that all year. And then we need to completely re-vamp the OL.
-
Well now that I've actually seen this incident, it does look like Josh is ignoring Diggs, b/c the coach sitting next to him heard him clearly enough to look up at him twice, and Josh seems to have chosen to just ignore him. Maybe he's thinking "Oh this is just Stephon being Stephon, he'll calm down in a bit." These things happen between teammates from time to time in all sports. I wouldn't put much into this. It is kind of interesting though; I missed it the whole thing live! Too much typing in the game thread!

Thanks for posting this! This is what I was looking for.

Thank you! This is what I was trying to find out!

ATTENTION HOMERS: You can still love this team and be critical
Nextmanup replied to K D's topic in The Stadium Wall
Most of the homers you are trying to reach in your message are LONG GONE from this place right now. They always abandon the ship when things don't go well. They'll start to show up again probably around Tuesday or Wednesday. -
Did you see it? What happened exactly?
-
I'm not asking why might these 2 disagree. I'm asking what was the incident in the game today. I didn't see it on TV, though I did record and will watch again.

Franchise in trouble- Josh Allen has regressed
Nextmanup replied to RoscoeParrish's topic in The Stadium Wall
I think Josh certainly played a big role in the whole mess...but I wouldn't lay the whole thing at his feet by any stretch of the imagination. He left a TD on the field on his first possession with a lousy pass to Diggs, to name 1 thing. -
They (WGR-550 post game show) are talking about Diggs yapping at Josh on the sideline at some point late in the game, and Josh was just standing there ignoring him and not responding. Anyone see this who was at the game or have more to comment on?
-
I think he's talking about the aftermath of the 13 seconds game. McD preaches taking ownership of your own mistakes and it all has to start with yourself, etc...but he totally dodged every bullet he could after the 13 second game. He didn't own up to the utter failure of the whole thing at all at the post game PC, and then they fired the special teams coordinator, using him as the scapegoat. I'd be willing to bet the guy is nothing like what he publicly appears to be, but I don't know. I don't know him at all.

Neither Kelly or Josh are generational.

Who are you rooting for next week? Cincy or KC?

Believe it or not, you are absolutely 100% free to not participate in this thread if you disagree with it, or think it's a waste of time. Isn't that incredible?

You have to ask, is he going to out-smart the smartest guys in the league all the way to a SB title? If not, why is he here?
