Qb position who are going to be in the room
Nextmanup replied to Greatdane21's topic in The Stadium Wall
Honestly, who cares? If Josh Allen goes down for a substantial period of time, the season will be lost. It's the same for every team in the league. -
All games are composed of tons of critical factors like this, but fans only focus on the 1 or 2 really obvious, dramatic plays, and then think they are what make the difference. If we get points on any of these failed drives, the 13 seconds at the end aren't relevant! We just didn't do quite enough (as it turns out) through the entire game to get a W. We should go in there thinking we need 50 to win and play/coach accordingly! Take nothing for granted.

It is still tough to take, no doubt. But consider this: the game was basically a rematch of last year's championship game. We played to basically the same level 2 seasons in a row. The difference is that last year we were OUTCLASSED by KC and had no shot against them. This year, we played them even and in fact should have won the game. We made a big improvement from last year to this year IMO. Not reflected in the record or how deep we went in the playoffs--technically speaking--but an improvement nonetheless.

If that's true, then why for the love of God are people talking about drafting a defensive lineman, a CB, or a frigging LB! Go find me another Kelce! I am hoping Knox turns into one!

I have thought about this sort of thing a lot lately. A HC in the NFL is like 4 or 5 job titles rolled into 1 person. I think the model is outdated and not up to date with the speed and complexity of the game. For example, most important in-game decisions should be made by the "decision team" which should be really smart guys with Ph.Ds in statistics. All challenges should be handled by a challenge team that is in place purely for challenges, and so on. And look at how much time/thought/energy McDermott wastes harping at the officials all game! They all do it! What a waste! Get someone on staff to yell at the refs if you think that is productive (it's not). 10 years from now I think the smarter NFL teams will have systems more like what I am describing. They do it the way they do it now b/c that is the way it has always been done. But it's not 1948 anymore.

Comparisons to '87, '88 and '89 are interesting
Nextmanup replied to ProcessTruster's topic in The Stadium Wall
Folks, what happened in the past to this franchise has absolutely nothing to do with what may or may not happen in the future. And you are injecting a lot of bias into your analysis anyway, as you search for similarities in your comparison. You could equally present a line of facts showing how the old SB Bills and the current team are absolutely nothing alike. I mean, why not start a thread discussing how and why the Earth is flat? It's about as relevant. And lastly, GET OFF MY LAWN! ✌️ -
PFWA names Belichick as NFL executive of the year
Nextmanup replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall
It seems fishy, doesn't it? -
For me it's the opposite; if KC kills the Bengals and then wins the SB, that should have been US in that spot because they should not have gotten past us. If they get killed on Sunday, let's say, it's hard to hold onto the myth/dream that this was our year. We couldn't get past KC and then they get whipped anyway by the Bengals...so just let it go. It comes down to psychology and how one chooses to view the situation I guess.

Sullivan: Bills' McDermott choked away Super Bowl-caliber season

That's because you're from Montreal. 🙌 -
Ken Dorsey - would he choose OC here or leave to be Daboll's OC?
Nextmanup replied to Heavy Kevi's topic in The Stadium Wall
I'm sure that would work well. 😳 I'm actually now getting the vibe Daboll isn't getting a job. -
I'm pretty sure Josh isn't going to the Pro Bowl purely as a "F U" to the league. We are all having a hard time getting over the game because it was like the second most shocking/heart breaking loss in franchise history! It will eventually go away. If the Chiefs lose Sunday, I think the loss to them will actually feel better.

I would give Daboll and big raise and try to keep him
Nextmanup replied to Miyagi-Do Karate's topic in The Stadium Wall
Today with S&B on GR-55, John Clayton said "You figure Daboll is going to go to either the Giants or Miami." But it didn't really sound like he knows anything; more like he's just repeating the same news we are all hearing. -

You're going to confuse people. Folks here struggle with 5th grade grammar; they don't know who Neville Chamberlain was. 🤫 -

Jeff Fisher Takes Michigan Panthers HC Job (USFL)
Nextmanup replied to BuffaloBillyG's topic in The Stadium Wall
Remember the "world league of american football" with the Frankfurt Galaxy, London Monarchs, and Barcelona Dragons in it? Holy cow you are like a scholar/historian of USFL football! Digging through your personal archives and what not! 👏 -
Ironically, if the Bangles somehow beat KC this weekend, I think it would prove to be cathartic for Bills fans. The 13 second thing is easier to let go if the Chiefs don't even make it to the SB. If the Chiefs win it all in convincing fashion, it will feel more like it was meant to be OUR championship and they stole it from us. So yeah, go Bangles!

If this week isn't painful enough, 31 years ago today....

You have to laugh at all these "anniversaries" or else you'll cry. -
Anyone in the mood for a little piano music?

For all of you enamored with speed - remember Marquise Goodwin
Nextmanup replied to BuffaloBill's topic in The Stadium Wall
Who said we are looking for speed alone? Of course you have to be a good football player first. By the way, I always get a kick out of the fact that Tyreek Hill, who is as dangerous an offensive weapon as you could ever hope to find, was taken in the 5th round by KC, 165th overall. Everyone in the league could have had him several times over and passed-- And yet fans continue to talk about "take the best man available" in the draft, as though that has any meaning, or that teams actually know who the best man available is. It was Doug Whaley at the time of course, but the Bills took, over Tyreek Hill: Shaq Lawson Reggie Ragland Adolphus Washington Cardale Jones Jonathan Williams (don't even remember him; RB from Arkansas) 😲 🤷♂️ 😭 -
How about a little RUSH from 1974 performing at the Laura Secord Secondary School in St. Catharine's !!! Holy cow, what a find!
