I don’t know how anyone who watches football can look at this year’s chief team and not come to the conclusion that it’s mostly about coaching in the playoffs. The chiefs are a good team, not exactly world beaters, roster wise yet they’re going to their 4th superbowl in 5 years after going to their 6th straight afc championship. robotic offense that doesn’t make mistakes and solid defense that puts all the pressure on the opponent to perform.
josh is talented enough and has played well enough in the playoffs to have at least one if not multiple superbowl rings but has yet to have the benefit of a consistent top flight playoff defense.
He’s similar to josh in that everything has to be muscled to the max. he kicks a 25 yarder like he’s trying to put it out of the stadium. The zero touch kids
I think McDermott should go but not because I think he’s an awful coach. He had his shot and it didn’t happen; for many reasons. we’re in purgatory and a fresh perspective is needed.
Having trouble after Kincaid and Allen. I’m probably trading Allen for picks in this hypothetical. Allen is all time great but trending to Marino, Kelly, rivers territory.
He has still yet to develop touch, 90 mph fastball every time.
I’m in this boat. it’s probably time for a complete rebuild or something like it. pretty much any team with josh at qb can win 9-11 games a year and lose in the playoffs. That is what we’re going to be for at least the next two seasons.
I don’t have specific answers but I know we are in a forever pretty good cycle that isn’t going to result in a superbowl win. Love josh, think he’s a rare talent BUT might not be the long term solution at this point (for financial reasons, and he’s probably past due on missing serious time with injury)
I was done with McDermott after the Miami playoff game last year. His philosophy and style of football are not my favorite to watch. We have a team full of nice guy goofballs.
I don’t know if it’s because I’m older or because I have a kid but I turned this game off after the chiefs’ 28 yard run following the bills’ punt in the first half. I’m not numb to it, it hurts, but I can’t ride the roller coaster of emotion.
If this chiefs team makes the superbowl I’m going to strongly consider taking a multi year break from the NFL or at least a huge step back in the time I invest. It’s become fruitless and a net negative experience.
