I don’t have a completely fleshed out thought but it seems to me McDermott is:
a rigid proceduralist; there’s only one right way to do things. Not creative or a trailblazer
obsessed with being respected not with winning
a bit of a hard-on
he’s limited and will live in the good to pretty good range but unlikely to sniff great.
Insipid
This is a perfect summation of what we’ve been seeing from josh for a long stretch. He has demonstrated an ability to make amazing throws but why is it he has to throw so hard? He has to get better at anticipating as demonstrated by making more receiver friendly throws.
If your point is josh is playing poorly I agree. If you’re point is other quarterbacks don’t have poor performances or bad stretches, that’s a different animal.
I think everyone knows what you get with josh at this point but we’re not getting as many amazing plays to make up for the wacky bad ones. Josh hasn’t evolved.
I miss the years where having our defense on the field with a chance to win the game, at home, was nearly a sure thing. Zero confidence in McDermott’s defense to close.
(we lost THIS game because of turnovers)
