  1. I will not be shocked if the ravens bills game is incredibly dull
  2. I agree. this is all McDermott gets, if he can’t put a monster together with what he has then…
  3. All this defense needs to succeed is guys who can do everything at a high level at every position.
  4. That’s reasonable, I just hope there aren’t cracks forming. i.e. I hope all the talk about complacency isn’t the first smoke from something deeper. like I said, just a thought, not trying to do drama.
  5. This pretty much where I’m at. If the defense fails again this year I’ll be fully in the time to move on camp. If McDermott needs pro-bowl talent at every position for his scheme to work then the scheme doesn’t work. I see he’s already getting his ducks in a row, as far as excuses go, by saying we don’t have safeties. Whose fault is that? Fair or not, Beane and McDermott have the benefit of standing on Josh’s shoulders so the expectations for them have to be higher
  6. Not to be a drama queen, I hope there isn’t something fishy going on. Seems like dudes aren’t buying in.
  7. Bit of a nuanced take: My biggest issue with the base defense is I don’t feel like it’s the type of defense that has success at the highest level/in the playoffs. Making things more complicated is that it is often successful in other situations. The Bills need to be doing the things that the best defenses do, especially in the playoffs, throughout the regular season. Play more man, play more 4-3, stunt more, be more aggressive in general and roll the dice. Force the offense to do something rather than read and react. by doing these things more often in the regular season, they will be more prepared to do them when they need them. In a sense you trade some of your regular season capital(?) for post season success.
  8. Probably. The organization has placed a high value on character (for better or worse) and it impacts our overall talent. it’s a big picture perspective and I can appreciate it, but it’s not without its frustrations.
  9. Agree, people thinking we have 75 nfl starters on the roster got a reality check
  10. Good night for: Bears ticket sales Bad night for: Bills fans that watch preseason
  11. September isn’t great either
  12. Because making those picks is low risk while trading picks AND paying a player is high risk, inures etc. if you’re going to pay a player like that it’s better to do so in free agency. we essentially CAN’T afford a huge contract player. We NEED drafted players to pan out/outplay their rookie contract
  13. He’s a superstar, no doubt. If Allen was still on his rookie contract we could afford to invest the kind of capital in acquiring/retaining a player like him. If we did it now we’d end up with a net loss (imo) because it is a zero sum game. It would be one thing if it was just retaining a player like that, but to give precision draft capital to acquire him would be too risky. Our best hope is hitting on draft picks.
  14. I’m only interested in winning not making ownership more money. I.e. paying a defensive end the money parsons demands would be low value for the bills in terms of impact on our W-L record. It might be worth it from ownership’s perspective in terms of jersey sales.
  15. Spector ghosted
  16. I agree. The episode felt more like a marketing gimmick than some past seasons. Left me wondering if there was an effort to move away from following fringe roster players to stars. Felt a little hollow but maybe I’m too close 🤷‍♂️.
  17. Bills aren’t going to be 100% at the start of the season (which we knew), are they going to be 100% at any point is the question that remains
  18. It reads like a guy who doesn’t fit in with his teammates and this was the straw that broke the camel’s back. I don’t think the offense was what did it, just a good enough excuse.
  19. If the offense or defense has a rough practice or preseason game you can say “offense (or defense) always starts slower”. They’re interchangeable.
  20. There is something to be said for building anticipation. The best seasoning is hunger.
  21. I just want to thank you guys for what you do to your bodies. It’s still real to me.
