In the hours before the Bills face The Ravens, I thought it would be cool to shift gears a bit and take a look at a classic Bills playoff victory. In my YouTube recommended videos, I came across this awesome summary of the Bills vs Miami Dolphins from the 1991 playoffs. I watched this game as a kid and thought it was a fun game back then, and it still looks it to this day. I know that we have fans of all ages here who are really reflective on the past. I wanted to ask this group what are your memories of this game? If you were too young, take 12 minutes to watch the recap and share your thoughts!

Some Panthers fans' views on McDermott/Beane
Phil The Thrill replied to technobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Their fans sound like some of the people on this board who lament for former coaches and players! Why would Beane go back to Carolina? I get that he’s a N.C. native and all but they had multiple chances to hire and they passed him over. Also he has a very good deal going in Buffalo. There’s a good chance he will make the playoffs 2 out of 3 years, with a franchise that failed to make the playoffs in 2 decades. Finally, he is nearly the completion of, what is mostly, a successful rebuild. He has personally signed or drafted every player on the team and it seems they are headed in the right directions. Carolina is a team which looks to be turning the page on its “franchise” QB. Why start a new rebuild when the one your currently working on is in good shape? -
Smoke vs the team that gave up on him.

Maybe but he hasn’t in weeks. Check his air yards. -

Just like in college, the majority of Lamar’s throws are relatively short and between the numbers. That’s why Tight Ends are such a big part of his passing game. To Baltimore’s credit they designed an offense where he doesn’t have to do much more than what did in college. Brown’s skill set probably doesn’t match up well in that scheme. We should be glad for that! -
No Steve Tasker on NFL 100???

I think the NFL must be penalizing Tasker for his horrible acting in those West Herr commercials! -
Ed Oliver versus Lamar in 2017 . Wow..

Crazy picks out there -- Lots of people on the Bills
Phil The Thrill replied to dayman's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don’t know if I agree that the “talking heads” are picking Buffalo. The majority of Network websites that predict games each week went with Baltimore. I think I read overall it was something like 79% - 21%. So most people (and Vegas) are predicting the Ravens. Some people will hedge their bets by saying “I think the Ravens will win.....BUT it’s going to be a close game” or “I wouldn’t be surprised to see the Bills win.” -

Van Der Esch? What? Good LB but not in the Top 100 by a long shot. At least not yet -

Interesting - someone on the Baltimore fab page was saying how they were concerned about the Bills and that Eddie was a key reason why Houston beat Louisville in college. Let’s hope history repeats itself -
Who will conquer the wind this Sunday?
Phil The Thrill replied to Stallions's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Baltimore’s game the past few weeks has been to pound the ball and throw shorter passes. I don’t think that the winds will really change that, though if the Bills can somehow slow the ground game (which is way easier said than done) I think it bodes well -
I am so sorry to hear this. It sounds like your dad was an awesome guy and a huge Bills fan.

[LAMP!] Personal perspective on the Bills
Phil The Thrill replied to Chandler#81's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Even I will admit, this is a pretty good post. I enjoyed reading this -
As a kid, I loved Flutie. He was one of my favorite players and seemed like the greatest guy ever. The more I read into the Flutie vs Johnson competition, the media reported that Flutie was constantly lobbying behind the scenes to be the starter. It also sounds like he was a locker room politician and I remember Thurman alluding to the fact the he didn’t like Flutie. It’s very surprising because Doug seems like the nicest guy but multiple people reported it. It seems like Doug was in kind of a bad situation. He signed with the Bills as the most popular player in the CFL. He probably signed with the intent to be a starter and then a month later or so, the Bills trade a 1st rounder for RJ.

Ravens @ Bills ****Predict the score****

I going to be pessimistic. Baltimore is unstoppable on offense and wins 38-13 -
Who would be our Steve Bartman or Bill Buckner
Phil The Thrill replied to bighorn_zilla's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I will always say that Polian held onto Norwood two years longer than he should have. Scotty fell off a cliff after his great 1988. By 1989 he just was not as reliable - especially on natural turf which a lot of teams still had back then. Had Polian been a bit more proactive he might have signed a better kicker I actually think about Hauschka the same way and hope I am wrong. -

Fun topic.... I think you have to forgive Ralph Wilson’s poor ownership and football decisions because ultimately he is the one responsible for the long playoff drought. Things improved once Ralph and his cronies were out of the equation -
it’s a 5 year deal. He can’t go anywhere unless the Bills fire him. It would be a dumb move for McDermott who has a lot of power, clout and respect around OBD
-
Why not? I say hire him tomorrow as a special assistant
-
I’m on the fence about taking him back. He has some explosive potential but he rarely was able to stay healthy. Also on the field there were just too many times when he disappeared. In terms of him being a busy, I would have to say a resounding YES. He never lived up to the “generational player” hype or draft status. He also wasn’t a tire fire but injuries completely derailed his career.

WHY SETTLE FOR A WILDCARD??
Phil The Thrill replied to Tatonka68's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This would be such an awesome scenario but I would agree that the Bills need to worry about Baltimore before this talk
