Russ Salvatore letter to the editor in 2018
Phil The Thrill replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yeah but Don Salvatore is holding 20 years of bad management (thanks to Ralph Wilson) against a coach who was there for less than 2 years. It’s unfair. By the way, Ralph IS the reason for the drought -
I don’t think so either. I noticed a few weeks ago, when Singletary fumbles, he goes right to the bench. There were times when Gore plying actually hurt the team with Singletary on the bench - but McDermott wanted to prove a point - you can’t fumble. I don’t think he trusts TJ, and would rather have a dependable Gore running the ball You don’t want Perry running the football

Russ Salvatore letter to the editor in 2018

This might be the funniest thing I have read! I actually met Russell Salvatore years ago. He seemed like a kind old man, but this letter makes his sound like a delusional jerk. I can actually picture him now huddled over a keyboard type one letter at a time with his pointer finger. He should have used his connections to contact a Medium to voice his complaints to Ralph Wilson - the real architect of “the drought” Russell should be pissed at Ralph though....not McDermott. He just comes off as Delusional Whatever happened to 26CB -
I agree with a lot of this but disagree on the coaching point. Yes the sequence you mentioned was not good and I hated the HB pass. But when it worked 2 weeks ago in Dallas it was hailed a great play call. I think that McDermott was well aware of the fact that Pittsburgh was opportunistic and that Duck Hodges was somewhat overwhelmed. So while it was conservative, he gambled correctly knowing that the offense would have a good chance at scoring again, and that the D had a good shot of closing the game out.

I think most Bills fans want to go into the playoffs looking strong. But it’s not always an indicator of success. The 2007 Giants made the playoff match at 9-7 with a soft schedule and thankfully ended a perfect NE season. I remember TEN with Mularkey upsetting KC in round 1 a few years back. It’s a new season in the playoffs. Nothing else matters. I would agree with you. I’d like to see atleast 2 wins -

It’s the whole butterfly effect. Too hard to predict. They take Metcalf and then maybe draft someone in the lower rounds or sign a player from another team they didn’t need with Ford. Or maybe LaAdrian Waddle doesn’t get hurt and holds down the fort at RT. Needless to say, I don’t think it would impossible to find a replacement for Ford -
Terrell Suggs released

This pisses me off when players pull this sort of stunt. You know that just from a strategy standpoint, New England will put in an offer just to keep him out of Baltimore...if no one else does before that. One of the best things that Brandon Beane did was refusing to release Anquan Boldin after he tried to fake a retirement because he wanted to play with New England. Beane held him to the deal he signed and put the ball in his court. He should do the same with Suggs, and if he won’t report, make him watch the playoffs on TV with the rest of the world. -
Steelers strengths and weaknesses

Frank Gore seems like an awesome person and a great teammate. I read that he has selflessly taken the role of mentor to Singletary and has really helped his development. With that being said, I do feel that TJ Yeldon offers more to this team as an RB in limited duty being Singletary. I‘m not quite sure why he isn’t active -
Steelers strengths and weaknesses

Listening to Joe Buscaglia, it made it sound like the Bills have zero chance at moving the football. He thinks Pittsburgh’s defense is the best that the Bills will face. Much better than NE and BAL. Given the pressure on the edges, the strong blitz packages, and the zone scheme with players like Fitzpatrick as ballhawks, that Pittsburgh will pressure Josh Allen into turnovers and end up winning a close game. On offense he didn’t see Pittsburgh as much of a thread but thinks that Hodges won’t lose the game and that the offense will move through a returning James Conner. Joe is something like 11-2 on the season, so this prediction has me kind of worried -
Ok so I can admit when I was wrong. When I said the Jets had a better offense, I was looking more at their overall offense since Darnold has returned. I didn’t take the time to look at numbers or anything else, so it was my bad. The Jets offense though has been much improved and there were time when they looked really good on Thursday versus Baltimore. I didn’t realize they were that bad because they have good talent at QB, RB, and WR, but then again, they did have Luke Falk starting for several weeks. So to say the Jets offense is better than the Bills is not correct. Just a hot take on my part after watching a Bills struggle vs Baltimore and the Jets offense look good at times. It looks like they’ll give him another year, at least.

Reading several articles today and some reporters are saying that Lamar Jackson has 40 TD’s And 6 INT this season so far. I knew that this didn’t sound quite right, so I looked at they were adding his rushing TD’s to his passing TD’s. I saw this done by a few reporters. So considering that QB’s are scoring more TD’s on the ground, is this going to be a new thing? Ironically, I’ve seen very few people credit Josh Allen with 25 TD’s and 8 INT’s.

Trade for Carr or Foles in offseason
Phil The Thrill replied to prissythecat's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
? It’s never going to happen. Only because the coach and GM has invested a lot in Allen. To pull the rug out from under him now would basically trash their investment. It would be like investing money into a Roth IRA and walking away without waiting for a return. I do see why you would suggest this. After last night’s game, it’s pretty clear that the Bills defense is good enough to win the Super Bowl. COMPETENT play from the QB and this team very well could be 12-1 at this juncture. But if you listen to Beane/McDermott they are trying to build long term success. That won’t happen with QB’s like Carr or Files who would be a bandage at QB -
That’s why I was impressed with the Bills defense to take out the running game. And yes, despite what some analysts said - the Bills did limit Lamar all around. If you take away the blown coverage on the 61 yard touchdown and the shorted field where they started at the 21 yard line. They held the Ravens to only one sustained TD drive which was helped out by a bad punt at the 49 yard line. If you can somehow bottle up the Baltimore ground game (big “if) , I don’t think he’s able to win the game with his arm. We might see this play out in a few weeks
