  1. yeah the Elam thing will be an ongoing mystery... will be interesting what the Cowboys do with him
  2. maybe this is what you meant, the salary cap is itself largely determined by what fans, by their viewing habits, will drive advertisers, and by extension, the TV networks/streamers to pay the NFL for the rights to televise games. . the salary cap is a derivative of the revenue recieved by the league for broadcast rights, period. YOu and I watch less, the advertisers, and therefore the networks will then pay less and vice versa. The salary cap per team is roughy the sum of the leagues TV network broadcast rights revenue divided by 32 (teams). The calc is not that simple anymore, but that is essentially it. this is why the league is bringing in Amazon and Peacock and Netflix , they will pay more than the old tv networks will , increasing the pot being divided by 32. and making the season 18 games, etc etc. ... further increases the numerator Stadium ticket revenue is split by the two teams playing the game, if memory serves (that's why Ralph was pushed so hard to build a bigger better stadium with higher ticket prices-- the other owners hated playing the Bills at the Ralph as it was a low revenue game)
  3. Beane will draft a couple corners this year, let Benford play his contract out, which he will need to do at a high level to get the $$ his agent wants. Beane probably either lets him walk or does a L'Jarious Sneed on him like KC, tag him for a year, then trade him for a 3rd or something. Beane is not paying that position 25 per year in this defense. Its just not happening, IMHO
  4. this is pretty much it, yes. Looks good to me. Next question?
  5. yep, they are toast now. I prefer the way Beane plays this stuff.
  6. Benford probably now thinking that it might be best to play out his final contract year. Big choice coming for the young man. With the concusson risk, starting to think the Bills should have him play out the contract and see where we are during and after the season.
  7. he and Cook are in the same boat. It's a choice (1) go the Saquon route and be a cancer or (2) take the more than reasonable deal Beane will certainly put in front of both
  8. true, but what about Johnson (4th) Benford (5th), Wallace (UDFA) , Jackson (7th) , ... for f's sake McD even turned two UDFAs from f ing UB into capable players (whom other teams want, if they can get them) I'm with you, the Elam story is a mystery, but McD can take just about anybody draft-able (or not) and turn them into a capable player (or more in the case of Johnson and Benford).
  9. Pretty sure McD can coach up a couple higher draft pick corners to take over for Benford. Heck he made Benford what he is. And Tre. And a couple others. It's what he does. He is the CB1 whisperer. Corner is the most "coach-up-able" position group the Bills have.
  10. If I had to guess, both Benford and Cook will go into the season without new contracts. If they hold out, not sure that works in their favor. We think they're great, but they are parts of a whole, not standalone talents, so not sure how other teams view them. Holdouts would suck, but probably hurt them as much as the team. Beane is good, he will bring in competition and we'll see where it goes.
  11. He likes the organization and the whole vibe of the team. I imagine Beane will just make an offer and then wait him out.
  12. fun player. too expensive for Beane in all likelihood
  13. seems like a good add, but that 8% drop rate will drive McD up the wall. trust the process.
  14. yep every year they do. trust the process, I say. they are winning way too much not to
  15. use a few picks; trade up and get the 2-3 guys you really want. most of the other picks will be cut anyway.
  16. Bills need to make room for the 3-4 backups they wisely (and successfully) drafted and are developing. Otherwise you lose them (and their rookie contracts)
  17. Beane will cover him up with a monster 1 tech this spring, prob both via draft and FA
  18. I thought these knee jerk posts are restricted to the first 12 hours after the final game. Heck its been over a month.
  19. whatever. Bills led the freakin league in scoring and set the team record for offense. mostly without Coleman. so any lift in Coleman's performance is gravy on top and I'll take it.
  20. this was the original agreement; the rules committee cratered at the last minute last year and moved it back to the 30 to see what would happen So the 35 was what was agreed, the 30 was just a trial. and it failed as only 30% of kickoffs were returned last season
  21. agreed. seems Wizard needs to put down the wand
  22. if those are the only options, try to sign Cooper to something reasonable and trade up into the 3rd round of the draft for a burner. Thats about it. Go upgrade the defense. Get a man corner in FA and draft a very large DT please.
  23. Has to be Josh, even though last season was probably not his best In general, without him, the drought could now easily be 25 seasons long, Lovie Smith would be the 4th HC and Jameis Winston the 4th Qb in the last 6 seasons.
  24. could be. I live here and lots of Garrett chatter in the DC area.
