  1. There was an article that compiled all of the Belichick data and the McDermott stuff was easy to throw together real quick.
  2. Oddly enough Belichick has faced 6 rookie QBs since 2017 when McDermott arrived. McDermott has also faced 6 rookie QBs since he arrived here in Buffalo. Just for fun... here is how those numbers stack up... Belichick McDermott
  3. After Mac Jones was named the starting QB for the New England Patriots yesterday, someone in the Cam Newton cut thread made a point that they were excited to see what McDermott would scheme up for the rookie Jones. After looking a little bit closer we are actually slated to face rookie QBs 5 times this season. Week 9, Trevor Lawrence Week 10, Zach Wilson Week 13, Mac Jones Week 16, Mac Jones Week 18, Zach Wilson Some comments were made suggesting that McDermott isn't actually good against rookie QBs... not that he doesn't ultimately win the game... but that he doesn't chew up and spit out rookie QBs like other defensive gurus. I wanted to take a look at this, and needed to make a comparison. The first name that came to mind was Bill Belichick. Bill has been at it a lot longer, but many consider him the best and most consistent at frustrating and confusing young QBs, especially rookies. Let's take a look... Bill Belichick Sean McDermott It's a small sample size for McDermott as the head coach of the Buffalo Bills... but he's been pretty darn good thus far. At the end of this year McDermott will have faced 11 rookie QBs to Belichick's 30 (Wilson x2 and Lawrence). I am curious to follow along and see if McDermott can keep up the pace he is on... because thus far he has been GREAT at frustrating and confusing rookie QBs.
  4. This dead cap ramifications from cutting him are going to kill us long term. Horrible roster management by Beane… why give him an extension if you’re going to cut him and bring him back? Now we’re on the hook for the dead cap money. SMH. This is what some posters will say 😉
  5. Rookie QBs against Belichick in New England… 6-21 (.222) 56% Completion 196.8 Y/G 23 TD (.85/G) 40 INT (1.5/G) 60 Sk (2.22/G) 69.8 Rating Rookie QBs against McDermott in Buffalo… 1-5 (.167) 60.3% Completion 212.5 Y/G 4 TDs (.67/G) 10 INT (1.67/G) 16 Sk (2.67/G) 64.0 Rating @Royale with Cheese @Giuseppe Tognarelli EDIT: Shoot! I forgot the WFT game from 2019. Going to add that to McDermott’s total in this post!

  7. Nothing. Also, don’t bring facts to the table, it ruins bad arguments.
  8. Highly likely he’s cut and brought back once we stash some guys on the IR.
  9. Not a great deal. People are going to complain either way… needed to sign a DE… Addison was consistently productive in Carolina. What else was he supposed to do? It is what it is. We’ve got really good value on some guys and not so great value on others… en route to one of the top 3 rosters in the NFL.
  10. I am sorry that it wasn’t clear to you. A bunch of other folks were able to comprehend what I was saying… including the poster. Thank you for encouraging me to work on my reading comprehension… maybe we can do that together? 😂
  11. @Hapless Bills Fan What was I saying? Was I calling you out for demonizing people or was I expanding upon your point? By the look of your green check mark you (and a few others) seemed to understand exactly what I was saying…
  12. Demonizing people who aren’t vaccinated and admonishing those who take awhile to come around is just a bad idea all around. You’re just creating unneeded tension and animosity.
  13. It’s not written this way in baseball contracts and I’d venture to guess it’s not written this way in football contracts. He’s not discussing X’s and O’s… I’m not allowed to discuss baseball related specifics per my contract… otherwise I can discuss anything else I want as long as I make a point that it’s my own view.
  14. Who said it’s an unnecessary distraction? The fans, the media? How do you know that Beasley isn’t speaking for a large portion of players who don’t want the vaccine or got the vaccine before they wanted to because they were fearful of losing their job? I’m around pro athletes… more feel like Beasley than I think people understand… but only very few will speak up for fear of losing their job. That’s an issue.
  15. Entirely different. Brown was posting a private team meeting on social media. Beasley is expressing his personal views on social media. Only consistencies are that they’re using social media and play WR in the NFL.
  16. Irrelevant to the question that was posed to me and has next to nothing to do with my response other than the fact that you regurgitated “Freedom of Speech.” Beasley expressing his opinions should not result in consequences… Beasley not following the rules should. Beasley expressing his opinions is not Beasley failing to follow the rules.
  17. Players talk about controversial subjects on social media all of the time… there’s a little thing called Freedom of Speech? Cole Beasley expressing his opinion on Twitter is no different than you or I doing the same thing. I didn’t realize that Freedom of Speech dissolved when you became a professional football player. I would say it would be pretty anti-McDermott to not allow his players to express their opinions… so yeah in a sense it’s exactly what’s been built here.
  18. Being in the locker room/front office it’s exactly as @Hapless Bills Fandescribed. Plenty of my co-workers and players have missed time, both vaccinated and unvaccinated, but there’s very little finger pointing. Everyone has a different viewpoint and that’s it… the various factions agree to disagree and carry on with life like adults should. It’s next man up to keep the ship running when someone pops positive or is a close contact and we’ve all taken pride in keeping things together.
  19. So to avoid POTENTIALLY losing them… you cut 2/3 and replace them with…?
  20. What a miserable take with no basis rooted anywhere. Personal choice and caring about each person’s beliefs individually is EXACTLY what he built here.
  21. McKenzie is unvaccinated too and has just as good of a chance at missing games as Beasley does. So yes, it wouldn’t be for Beasley’s personal beliefs, it would just be a bad decision lol
  22. A lot of really good leaders have their own way of saying it… but the first one that comes to mind is Jocko Willink… leaders need to be able to “detach and assess.” You’re spot on in your evaluation of what makes McDermott unique.
  23. Or you just don’t get how this works? You’re defeating the process if you cut players for their personal beliefs in a situation where the league has made it possible to have personal beliefs. That’s how you lose their respect and show them that you never actually cared about them in the first place… which is what everything in Buffalo is built upon.
  24. Lol sorry… not directed at you… bringing over frustration from an idiotic comment on another thread. Yes, it was sarcastic.
