  1. How is turnover worthy throws a ridiculous stat? At the same time, how is moves that make sense a ridiculous metric?
  2. Their writers voted on their top executive at the midpoint of the 2021 season. A few highlights from the article: “I voted for Beane because I think the Bills lead the league in MTMS (Moves That Make Sense),” Sheil Kapadia said in explaining his support for Beane. “That doesn’t mean they all work out, but they seem to have a good process.” “The top executive isn’t always the one making the most moves or the highest-profile ones. As the legendary basketball coach John Wooden famously put it, we should not mistake activity for achievement. The best moves can be the ones a wise general manager has the foresight and discipline to avoid making.” They listed the following moves as their rationale for Beane being the top executive: Josh’s extension Re-Signing Milano Keeping key role players - Taron Johnson, Levi Wallace, Daryl Williams Drafting Greg Rousseau Supplementing Diggs w/ Emmanuel Sanders Getting Mitch EDIT : Link is here https://theathletic.com/2922270/2021/11/04/what-makes-bills-gm-brandon-beane-the-nfls-top-executive-at-midseason/?source=user_shared_article
  3. He writes this himself on the board… can’t really “post the link and a few bits”. Great feel.
  4. They gave up one big run… are they not allowed a big play here or there?
  5. If it doesn’t matter until the end of the season, why were you the one to bring up passing TDs now…?
  6. It's almost like people don't want multiple good players on our team. We've longed for years to have multiple offensive weapons, now we do and people want to start shipping them out of town! Diggs isn't a "gamebreaker" Davis is overrated Beasley needs to be cut because we have Diggs and Sanders Sanders is old, slow and taking away targets I am starting the campaign right now...BRING BACK ANDRE HOLMES AND ZAY JONES! #HolmesANDJones
  7. I'd be curious to go back in time and look at playoff teams schedule breakdown in a given season. I'm hypothesizing here... but most playoff teams probably play 5-6 really challenging games in a season (how do we define this, probably teams that finish the season at or above .500?). I would also say that most playoff teams end up anywhere between 3 and 6 losses on average. Which means they're roughly .500 against the challenging teams that they play? I might dig into this because it will probably be illuminating for folks on this board. Essentially my thought is playoff teams go .500 or worse against challenging teams in the regular season and beat up teams they should beat up. That's why 1-2 in our challenging games isn't a big deal at all...
  8. This team is really just a disappointment because they’re not undefeated.
  9. Those evil vaccinated people not wearing masks!! Or wait is it the evil people who aren’t vaccinated at all? Or wait.. who is evil again? Go back to yelling at clouds.
  10. He’s already making them… we’re spoiled by Joshua Patrick Allen.
  11. Jeez. What did Matt Rhule do to you?
  12. I’d cut Brieda in that scenario if we acquired Patterson. Kumerow would become inactive on game days.
  13. Cordarrelle Patterson!
  14. We need a guy like Cordarelle Patterson. He’d be perfect in this offense and he’s really the only guy in the league who has been used this way. He can run the football but can also split out wide and function like another WR - because he is a WR being used as a RB. He’s also an All-Pro return man. You get a ton of value out of him. If we’re just running to keep the other team honest… have your running back be another WR.
  15. Well then, yes. We’re in agreement on that. What key starters does he need to resign… the big contracts he gave out were given to key starters…? He’s already accomplished that. I agree with the point on the trenches. I think the defensive line with built to beat guys like Mahomes and not smash mouth offenses like the Titans. I’m not sure if it’s possible to build a team that can negate both types of offenses in today’s league. I’d still like some nastier guys tho - particularly on offense.
  16. That’s a hypothetical. That’s one reason why his argument doesn’t work. The second is that we can very easily and objectively look at Beane’s drafts without Josh Allen and see that he drafted well… and better than the majority of his peers. The title of this thread is Beane’s Draft Success… we’re purely discussing his ability to obtain value from the draft.
  17. He’s making the point that without Josh Allen, Beane’s drafts have been bad and would have gotten him fired. I’m talking purely from a return standpoint, that’s not true. No hypotheticals or anything. I’m saying - fine, let’s remove Josh from the equation and look at his drafts. They’re still above average and would not be grounds to fire him.
  18. That’s the furthest thing from the truth. I’d love to see some evidence on that. You’re speaking based on emotion and opinion with no objective information. I have displayed objective information related to the draft multiple times on this board - for when you clap back and say I’ve done the same thing.
  19. The numbers says drafting is hard… even for those who have success drafting… and your big point is that people hired to draft aren’t as good as they should be? How does that add up? They’re only good or bad by comparison to the rest of their peers? Unless there’s some magical being out there in the world that’s not a GM and is identifying talent at a rate greater than NFL executives… I’m not sure where you’re going with this?
  20. Uhhh… he’s literally the reigning and defending executive of the year 😂 And you’re trying to take a dig at him for signing veteran depth with past production?
  21. Yes - it gives him more room for error. Everyone misses more than they hit - you should not have to be forgiven for your misses. You should be applauded for your hits. It’s a media/fan driven thing that’s really silly when you look at the data on drafting. TV analysts and fans want to cherry pick and say “He took player X, but look player Y was on the board and he’s an All-Pro now.” It doesn’t work that way and it’s created total misunderstanding as to how draft success should be measured. Honestly, he could’ve missed on JA and would still be better than an average drafter when compared to his peers. We really need people here to understand how difficult it is to draft and that Beane has been better than his peers (and way better than average) since taking over. It’s not just because of JA. He’s out drafted pretty much everyone when you look at each individual draft.
  22. I'd like to argue that it's almost unheard of... you're underestimating how bad teams are at drafting. I LOVE your logic on the high floor/low ceiling stuff in RD2, but isn't that exactly what Beane has done? Ford (as a guard), Epenesa and Basham were all that exact type of player coming out of college. I think your logic on the top-60 player is a little flawed. They may be a top-60 player in that draft class but it doesn't make them an immediate starter in the NFL? Higher probability of being a starter but those players bust all the time... especially when you get to the back end of RD2 where Epenesa and Basham were taken. It's something like over 40% of NFL starters were drafted after the second round - I may not understand the math here, but if 40% of the starters in this league were acquired after RD2 how can we just assume that a top-60 player in a given draft class should be a solid starter for 4 years? They have a higher probability of being a starter... but it's not a guarantee like you're making it out to be.
  23. Yes, a ton has been invested in the defensive line and the offensive line. Which tells me they know it's important - regardless of whether those guys they've acquired have all panned out they've put resources into the trenches. They're trying to balance present and future. Tons invested into the defensive line today, but Hughes, Addison, Butler, Obada, Phillips and Zimmer are free agents next year. Boogie was the best player on their board and they took him. He may not have filled an immediate need now, but he will be an inhouse replacement next year. Creed Humphrey was the only guy I think could have fit a short term and long term need. I guess that's the debate, but I understand the logic behind drafting Basham.
  24. That’s not what I was getting at… it’s loaded to list guys as “Pre-Beane” when they arrived the exact same off-season he did. I also didn’t say he was working for the Bills secretly… but to think having Beane 2 months earlier would significantly alter bringing in guys like Hyde, Poyer, Milano, White and Dawkins that same off-season doesn’t really line up with the way things function in a front office, particularly this one.
