TBD Posters: “Beane never takes big swings on traits guys. Plays it way too safe.” Also TBD Posters: “Ugh, another raw traits guy? Why can’t Beane just draft polished players?” Me: “I can’t wait for the day this regime wins a Super Bowl so you can all go back to your shanties.”

You’re smarter than I was giving you credit for - genius, actually. You know why? The odds give the Bills something like a 10–14% chance of winning the Super Bowl. Which means 85–90% of the time, they don’t. So really, you’re playing the safe bet. But hey, anyone can hang out in the shallow end with two feet on the ground. Why don’t you come test the deep water? 😉

Bills sign RB Jarveon Howard; place Darrynton Evans on IR
JGMcD2 replied to The Jokeman's topic in The Stadium Wall
NFL teams carry 90 players during the preseason, but only about three running backs during the regular season. The Bills just gave James Cook a 4-year, $48M extension — he’s clearly been an effective player. They also gave Ty Johnson a 2-year, $5M deal, and Josh Allen has called him “the best third-down back in the league” multiple times. On top of that, they spent a 4th-round pick on Ray Davis last year, who stepped up big when Cook missed a game last season (20 carries for 97 yards and 3 catches for 55 yards). None of those guys are going to see significant snaps in the last week of preseason. That leaves Frank Gore Jr. to take every carry — which obviously isn’t reasonable without another option in the room. They decided to sign Jarveon Howard seeing that Darrynton Evans was waived/injured. So, what exactly do you expect the Bills to do when they need a body for just one week before roster cutdowns? Perhaps you'd like to see them trade for Christian McCaffrey to fill in week 3 of the preseason? -
It’s pretty dramatic. We’ve barely even seen the starters - what did you expect, our 3rd and 4th stringers, who might barely be UFL quality, to have a "300 moment" against the Bears’ starters actually trying to prove something? You could've had Winston Churchill or Martin Luther King deliver a speech, and it wouldn't have made a difference.

Holy *****, the Ravens had 843 yards in the playoff game?!
-
Who is better then? The Ravens, can’t beat us, the poorly ran Buffalo Bills when it counts. The Bengals? Living off their miracle run to the Super Bowl. They’re more likely to miss the dance all together than make a run: The 49ers? You’d have a ***** cow of we mismanaged the QB position like them. So who do you want to point to Chiefs? Sure. Eagles? Absolutely. Brother, the same media that you’re taking their votes into account barely wanted to give Josh any credit this year. They’re JUST finally coming around on him.

I love all the overreactions. There were multiple roster moves due to injury: Signed RB Jarveon Howard and WR Grant DuBose. RB Darrynton Evans was placed on injured reserve. CB Te’Cory Couch and WR Kaden Prather have been waived/injured. These are bodies to play the final week of the preseason lol

You keep saying I’m the “definition of a fan,” but the reality is my take is grounded in research, while yours reads more like the definition of a fanatic - rigid, intolerant, and unwilling to see nuance. You frame this roster as “average talent elevated by Allen,” but the actual track record doesn’t support that. Newsflash: drafting three elite players (you identified Cook and Benford) - including Josh - already puts him ahead of the majority of his peers. Let’s talk nuance. Teams acquire elite talent in different ways, but by definition “elite” is scarce. You’re not going to find 4–5 elite players on every roster. So go ahead - name the names. Count how many teams actually have more elite talent than Buffalo. We’re not even getting into how badly most teams miss in the draft. You’re dismissing Benford just because Beane missed on Elam? Please. By that logic, Howie Roseman fell into DeVonta Smith after botching the Jalen Reagor pick over Justin Jefferson. Want to talk about the Chiefs? Isiah Pacheco confirmed first-rounder Clyde Edwards-Helaire as a wasted pick. Felix Anudike-Uzomah? Total mess. Kingsley Suamataia was benched outright, which forced them to go right after a first-round OT this year. Misses happen everywhere. Acting like Buffalo’s are uniquely catastrophic is just lazy. You’re only good or bad by comparison. Trying to reduce this to “the Bills are bad because I said so” is embarrassing. P.S. It’s cute that you’re saying things like “has exactly three guys anyone outside of Buffalo might know on the roster” — and that’s debatable, since most people don’t really know OL anyway. As if ESPN analysts or random Titans fans on Twitter knowing who Dion Dawkins and Spencer Brown are would convince me they’re elite or not. Maybe a little soul searching is in order, lol.
-
You're not breaking anything to anyone, you're just plain wrong. Beane misses less than his peers, it's that simple. You want to argue about finding elite talent, that's fine. Suggesting they haven't found above average talent is just dishonest.

He played well with Matt Nagy calling plays in Chicago and struggled with Matt Canada calling plays in Pittsburgh. Their offensive line in Pittsburgh was also atrocious. Feeling just fine about him behind our O-Line with Joe Brady calling plays. Not what I meant, Josh is very much on the record about what he wants out of the QB room.
-
You should ask Josh Allen — it’s his QB room, and the backup choice likely depends on whether he wants that guy there. We’ve never really seen Trubisky with the 1’s in a meaningful game (and hopefully we don’t), but if it happens, he gives you as good of a chance as any backup would. He's 31-26 in his career as a starter.

Considering you credited Skylar Thompson with 31 points - yeah, you are. One TD came on a Zach Sieler fumble recovery of Josh Allen. You didn’t account for the other two Allen turnovers, or the punt return that gave Miami 3 of their 5 scoring drives starting in Buffalo territory. Not even mentioning the Tyler Bass illegal kick, which spotted them the ball at the Miami 40 and set up another field goal after just a 38-yard drive. I cite a .650 winning percentage. You cite 4 road playoff losses. I point out how close the games were. You say only winning matters. Methinks this isn’t your strong suit.
-
Man, oh man. You're referencing the Skylar Thompson playoff game? You're clearly out of your depth.

Sure, 2024 was the first season since Brady left where two teams from the AFCE didn't make the playoffs. Whatever fits your narrative, I guess.
-
Okay, what does that have to do with being tough? Lost @Jacksonville in 2017 10-3 Lost @Houston in 2019 22-19 (OT) Lost @Kansas City in 2020 38-24 Lost @Kansas City in 2021 42-36 (OT) Man, they're getting their ***** kicked in on the road in the playoffs! Average margin of loss is 1 score! Yes, "a few bad games" describes the entire body of work.
-
Nailed it - I can't believe they only forced 3 turnovers against the Ravens in the Divisional Rounds. Including two by Lamar Jackson who only had 9 the entire regular season!
-
Gosh, this is so overplayed. They hang tough more often than not - the guy has a .650-win percentage for ***** sake.

Matt Parrino sensationalized his caption on that tweet. He didn’t say that specifically about Bishop, it was a generalization after he said “I’m concerned about a lot of things coming off of tonight”… THEN Parrino asked the question about Cole Bishop. McDermott went on to explain he’s been on a rep count, and needs more reps, because that’s how you work out some of these things.

I actually have a ton of confidence in our development of OL. Beane does well when he has a strong guiding hand on the coaching staff, Aaron Kromer is that on the OL. Much like Sean McDermott is that with DB. They’ll hit at these spots more often than not because they clearly do a good job collaborating. I’m hoping that Ryan Nielsen becomes the same value for us on the defensive line. Yes, people can point at the misses like Ford or Elam, but misses are inevitable. I feel very good about those two personnel groups.

Bengals 1st RD Pick could go back to College?

My guess is Allen doesn’t even crack the Top 5. Players don’t think he’s as good as others for some reason, and then he embarrasses them weekly.

Brandon Beane "might be the most sensitive GM in the entire NFL"?
JGMcD2 replied to BADOLBILZ's topic in The Stadium Wall
There’s something oddly comical about message board posters - many of whom get worked up over perceived "personal attacks" from strangers online - relentlessly criticizing someone who’s under constant scrutiny for simply showing a bit of emotion.
