Looking quickly… on a per attempt basis Cook and Hall were nearly identical. PFF liked Cook better than Hall as a runner and receiver. Cook also didn’t tear his ACL. Considering we don’t run the ball often, not too bent out of shape about it. All that being said, I’d rather spend my RD1 pick on a premium position like a CB. Especially knowing Hall and Cook produced similarly on a per snap basis and we don’t run the ball. Look, you got those guys right. You deserve credit for that… let’s just try a sample of humility and realize being right about a pair of guys you read about on the internet and watched play a few times in college doesn’t mean you’re some talent evaluation savant.

I also forgot about Brian Gaine before when Houston brought him in as GM. I think teams recognize what we're doing is generally pretty good, there's just a little bit of an order of operations to go with it. Joe Schoen was Brandon Beane's top lieutenant. He's the most logical candidate to be directly aware of our "secret sauce" and involved in just about everything. Brian Daboll vs. Leslie Frazier. We've all discussed this to exhaustion, but Daboll had full control of the offense... there's a perception that McDermott was involved with the defense. Plus Frazier failed on time before with Minnesota. I believe a year or so ago there was an article talking about how we're (possibly) the most diverse organization in football.

I mean we have 3 minority candidates in the front office that have been referred to as future GMs at one time or another. Malik Boyd, Terrance Gray and Lake Dawson. There was Leslie Frazier as well who was seen as a HC candidate. They’ve all gotten interviews. We’ve just had our non-minority candidates poached. Brian Daboll, Joe Schoen and Dan Morgan.

I think you missed the point.

Soo they’re not good at drafting because they’ve drafted to fit scheme and the scheme helps players succeed which results in winning games? I don’t follow. More often than not those two realities are mutually exclusive. If you don’t draft well… it’s hard to win. So what’s going to give?

You may be correct, but we don’t know what the future holds. Gabe Davis, Tyler Bass and Dane Jackson from 2020 are candidates to stick as contributors on a 2nd deal. Up to this point they’ve done their job as “cheap talent” supplementing veterans. Rousseau is an extension candidate down the road and has shown signs of progression. He was a good find all the way at the back end of RD1. Brown/Doyle have shown potential, enough where they will at least provide depth on the OL. Brown could still click. 2022 is actually pretty promising and another reason why I’m not quite sure why people are so down. Kaiir Elam looked great down the stretch and conceivably gets his big deal when Tre White’s is up. James Cook was productive in a limited role… hopefully Dorsey makes some adjustments. Shakir has potential and flashed it on multiple occasions. Benford looks to be a great find late and maybe even a Poyer/Hyde replacement down the line. Bernard sticks out like a sore thumb after last year… but he might be replacing Edmunds. As it stands right now… that’s 3 starters, 2 high volume rotational pieces and a ST contributor in Spector for 2023.

I keep seeing posts about all of our expensive contract and missed picks... I'm still not sure I understand. Somehow, we've sustained being a top end team for 4 years now. McDermott and Beane have been here for 6, which means they've had 6 drafts and 2 classes qualify for free agency. On paper, it's damn near impossible for them to be bad drafters and to have sustained success this long. We may not have a plethora of impact guys like we want... but it's not this colossal mess some posters are making it out to be.
