  1. Josh’s ceiling is lower than Mahomes, Burrow and Herbert despite never touching the level of competition they did in college? Murray, Prescott, Tannehill and Jackson have performed better than Josh the past two years? I’m not following your logic. Mahomes, Herbert, Burrow and Allen are debatable long term. I’m not disputing that. I think Kyler Murray is right there too… but I’m not sure what your argument is? Herbert, Burrow and Murray aren’t getting their contracts right now and weren’t in line for it. Josh was… you’re overselling his “regression” his regression still has him playing like a top 3 QB this year. What are we using to measure that? When they get paid… Josh will no longer be paid like the #1 QB in football… that’s how it works. They’ll surpass him.
  2. Wait a minute? You’re doing two different things here. Burrow, Mahomes and Herbert you’re projecting out… but the rest you’re looking historically? Make it make sense.
  3. Which is why your argument that Josh was overpaid doesn't make sense... the cap will continue to rise and the next crop of QB contracts will make more than or close to Josh and won't be producing at the same levels. You're trying to make Lamar out like he's been better than Josh over the last two seasons. Reality is Lamar is a guy who has come crashing down after his MVP season and Josh had one of the best statistical seasons the NFL has ever seen and came back out and performed at 90% of that the following year.
  4. What 6 - 11 QBs are playing better football than Josh Allen this season or over the past two seasons? And are we talking statistically or are you sitting down and breaking down film an all of the NFL QBs to make this determination?
  5. I’ve been having this debate with a friend of mine who is a Browns fan and I think he’s finally starting to come around on this. Baker is a fine quarterback, but he’s not worth the $35M he thinks he deserves. It’s not really not even close. His production is worth around $25M. Spotrac has him at $30M but I think that’s too high. He’s heavily protected by that run game. Baker is a player in a similar vein to Kirk Cousins, Ryan Tannehill and Jimmy Garoppolo (Mac Jones and Tua Tagovailoa are entering this discussion too). They’re definitely above average, but they need help around them to support them. They’re not able to carry a team for stretches of a season, but they’re not bad enough where you feel like you should replace them. I think Cleveland is better off paying Nick Mullens around $10M a year for 3 years to run the same offense. The offense line is already top 5 in football, the defense has talent all over the place, spend the $25M you’d save from not signing Baker an use it to stack the offense with weapons. Mullens will give you 90% of the production Baker gives you for 30% of the cost. It’s actually crazy how similar their per game numbers are to this point.
  6. That's something I've really noticed. Older coaches with years in the game are more than happy to incorporate new concepts into their current philosophies - that's how you survive in an industry where you're hired to get fired. The irony of it all is that all of the analytics ultimately just reinforce a lot of concepts that we did not quantify before. It's just another tool for coaches to make informed decisions and is an easy way to give feedback/make decisions. I also think the media does an amazing (and ridiculous) job of drumming up a narrative around numbers. It's really not all that complicated and advanced under the hood - plenty of models and metrics are created online similar to what teams end up creating themselves. The teams just have access to more information, more people, more resources AND use the tried-and-true eye test for things. Anyway... Dungy, Riddick and Frazier would be a great trio for Chicago. I think Frazier deserves this opportunity.
  7. I’m on the younger side of things and would have to agree with you. It’s great when you can get some young, fresh thinkers in the room. It means you have a potential building block for a long time… but there are tremendous growing pains with young professionals… especially in sports organizations. My favorite people I work with are the guys who have been around for decades. In most cases they’re more open-minded than the younger guys - that’s how they’ve stuck around for decades. A lot of younger guys want to do it their way or no way at all… until they learn it doesn’t work that way. It’s just like analytics… you need a good mix of everything. A balance. You can’t be too reliant on one medium for your success.
  8. He was the director of player personnel in Washington and Philadelphia. He’s been a GM candidate for a few years now.
  9. The only INT I was mad about was the first one. The 2nd and 3rd he really couldn't do all that much about IMO. It was infuriating watching the rest of the games yesterday and seeing numerous balls get tipped and just fall to the ground or go right into the WR hands. GB/Minnesota.... Rodgers' throw got tipped and the pass ended up being deflected right into Davante Adams hands in stride. It's just the way the ball bounces sometimes lol
  10. Drew Lock, Sam Darnold, Daniel Jones are great Trubisky replacements. Unfortunately, they're all going to be under contract next year. I think come 2023, we have our pick of the litter. I could honestly see us trading a late round pick for Drew Lock if Trubisky isn't back. Lock would be a perfectly fine backup for Josh.
  11. I mean maybe that’s how the voters are going to vote? If you’re just looking at pure numbers, strength of competition, record, etc. they’re just about equal. Josh has 4 wins against top 10 defenses mixed in there… Burrow hasn’t played a defense rated better than 13th. Burrow has had an incredible season, just like Josh. Recency bias is dumb.
  12. Burrow? 10-6 70.4% Completion 4611 Passing 34 TD 14 INT 118 Rushing 2 TD 2 FMBL Lost 4729 Total Yards 36 TD 16 Turnovers Allen 10-6 64.1 Completion 4168 Passing 34 TD 15 INT 700 Rushing 6 TD 3 FMBL Lost 4868 Total Yards 40 TD 18 Turnovers And for all the flack the Bills get for not beating good teams… Cincinnati has played the easiest schedule in the NFL according to DVOA. They’ve yet to even play a top 10 defense. Don’t get me wrong Burrow is great… but he’s not doing more than Josh Allen. It’s Rodgers MVP and should be unanimous.
  13. Cam Newton was also never close to the passer Josh is. God forbid Josh gets to the point where he can’t run like he does now, he’s still an unbelievable pocket passer and would adjust as needed. I’m not advocating that we continue to run Josh into the ground. I want a beefed up offensive line and legit run game as much as anyone on here. I just feel like the Cam Newton/Josh Allen comparisons are worn out. Josh is WAY more well rounded than Cam ever was.
  14. Aw *****. If he never plays exactly the way we dream of him, he’ll only be the best QB in the league. What a shame. He’s shown the capacity to learn and improve at an insane rate. He’s revamped so much in just 4 years… it’s pretty incredible actually. He’ll get around to it… but you can only break so many bad habits at one time.
  15. Haha this made me chuckle. First off, I actually didn’t mind Sanchez on the call at all. I don’t remember the exact point in the game, but Sanchez was kind of griping over something Josh did. Maybe he was in disbelief… I honestly don’t remember the context. Anyway, my dad goes “Well Mark, you can’t believe it because your signature play was the butt-fumble.” I got a good little chuckle out of that.
  16. All of those coaches outside of Reid won their Super Bowl within their first 5 seasons. If McDermott doesn’t win the Super Bowl this year… we’re doomed!!! DOOMED!
  17. Since we’re doing hypotheticals… Let’s just say we don’t trade for Diggs. We keep our pick and draft Justin Jefferson. Instead the Patriots trade for Stefon Diggs and Tom Brady never leaves. This isn’t really just a hypothetical… it was a realistic possibility.
  18. Literally the most overrated player in all sports. I hate Josh Allen. He doesn’t deserve to be the NVP let alone the MVP. I’m going to put him down at every chance I get because I have absolutely unrealistic expectations!!!!!! Did I do it right?
  19. Regular season he’s 48-32. Good for a .600 winning percentage. I’m pretty sure I saw someone say there’s only like 3 active coaches at or above that mark. If anyone has the tweet, please share.
  20. I’ll lower the bar and just do playoff appearances… Gurley had 2 in his first 5 seasons. Ingram had 2 in his first 5 seasons. Elliot had 2 in his first 5 seasons. McCaffrey has 1 in his first 5 seasons. Fournette will have 3 in his first 5 seasons.
  21. You’ve listed 5 top 10 picks and then Ingram who was the Heisman winner. There’s not a RB talent like that in the draft… you can’t just take a 1st round guy and assume he’s going to be that caliber of talent because he was selected RD1. Why not list Chubb, Taylor, Cook, Henry, Mixon and say we need THAT GUY now to help Josh Allen? The value is horrible taking a RB in RD1.
