Goff was actually worse than you think...
Bing Bong replied to blacklabel's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
we'd be praising the performance if JA has that game.. crucifying Cooks and the OL. Goff's clearly shown he has loads of talent, accuracy, and throwing power. So has JA even when he's played poorly for several quarters. Goff's just played longer, had the chance JA hasn't for more success, and blew it in the SB. Bad game. Great quarterback.. really bad game in the SB though. Nice. That's been the big story I've heard.. The Rams basically did what they haven't done all year to throw something different at the Patriots. The result: a team that averages 33 ppg does something way different and scores 3. -
Great Job by Wade Phillips

Haha those are like my 2 favorite WRs because they just make tough physical grabs. Just super cool to watch over a speed guy burning his man. Brandin Cooks can be gameplanned against when you got safeties flying at the deep ball. It's awesome to have a 1 on 1 WR that has a 50/50 to get 60 yards bombs. Allen's gotta put some air on his deep balls.. seems more catered for speed at the moment. Mike Evans would be great. Don't know what's going on in Tampa, they're so talented I can't see a rebuild. Just a quarterback away and not even a particularly great one at that (see Fitz). But yeah.. sign me up for Mike. -

I agree, not exactly Cooks' game to get up for jump balls, but it certainly should be for how he seems to gets recognized by the league, analysts, average fan. Goff gave him a chance, if imperfectly. He could have made the 2 only big plays of the game.. easily SB MVP with 2 great grabs. Ashon or Mike Evans are the masters at it. Alshon Jeffrey comes down with at least one of those. He's a jump ball monster and it killed the Pats (killed most teams when Foles was switched on "DEEP TO ALSHON" mode). I've been saying the same thing. It really was. Sadly it speaks more to the Rams underachieving than us particularly proving anything lol. Gotta score points against the ultimate game manager. That Brady fella is very comfortable up just a field goal because he's always got the last drive in his pocket. -
Non-call affected Super Bowl too
Bing Bong replied to IgotBILLStopay's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Gilmore or NRC? I thought the Pats secondary was dominant (as they are EVERY year! Minus the self sabotage from Butler last year- and a loss! Take notes ppl). But I loved NRC blowing up that one screen early, even though it was called for defenseless WR. I mean I guess it was but cmon.. it's NRC. Pats dude was fine lol. Don't see how NRC couldn't have been our servicable slot corner. He's a gamer good at a certain part of the game. I guess we have someone promising in the wings.. maybe it's Taron Johnson at slot? Loved that dude. -
Who's more overrated...goff or mcvay
Bing Bong replied to Hebert19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
They'll be fine. Super young and made the SB. They just blew it. This current Rams edition isn't built to last and Goff is going to have to do more with less going forward. I'm seeing a sharp decline in 2-3 years unless Goff becomes the man. -
Yeah I guess it beats the blowouts from yesteryear but that just meant both teams played pretty bad football IMO. I thought the Rams front 7 and Patriots secondary, and Edelman showed up. That's about it. And the Rams punter lol.

Felt like watching the first time the Bills played the Pats this season. So yeah it was pretty bad for a SB

Super Bowl 2nd half Game Thread
Bing Bong replied to Hapless Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Thought it sucked. Cooks looked like he could have come down with at least one of those catches in the endzone. No Gurley. And Belicheck played a damned good game. Great secondary play but the offensive execution obviously wasn't there either between poor quarterbacking, receiving, or no Gurley. Bleh Rams. Alshon Jeffrey probably comes down with 2 TDs from the throws targeted for Cooks from Goff's long balls if we're thinking of the comparing a single advantage the Eagles had with offensive execution last year. -
Potential Bubble players from Spotrac
Bing Bong replied to BarleyNY's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
My buddy volunteers for PFF because he's a major football nerd and literally does watch a single guard all 4 time slots in a week and measures that given guard's very specific plays such as how many yards he pushed a guy back on a running play, exactly how fast he pulled to his block, where he was positioned as the Quarterback threw the ball (to judge how he helped formed the pocket I guess), etc. You get it. And he's not even the only guy measuring that guard as there's multiple quantifiable stats to watch for on a play. And when there isn't, PFF is just gathering the same data from at lease 2 different sources to check errors (they "promote" guard guys to centers to RBs to the glorious QB PFF volunteer! They demote the bad ones to kickers lol or as the 5th crappy analyst for the same guard that's used with a grain of salt) And it's very idiot proof. I watched him do a game for the heck of it, and he's tasked with very simple metrics and types into some cloud software constantly that automates location, speed, and distance to help so he only punches in the few things needed that need to be seen. He does it for free, got promoted from RG to LG (second string of course). So apparently PFF has an absolute legion of these guys doing this for free, with overhead going to automated software developers and real analysts that find a way to compile the crapload of data (which I imagine aren't that many and automate as much as possible) It's boring as hell and we were drinking while we did it lol. But I'm pretty sure they have every player looked at every play, often by multiple people. The limitations are clearly quantifying football, and probably most valuable: the quality graders are making with the data they receive. But they have all the data in the world to analyze and come up with solutions to what you're saying. I too find it fascinating.. I mean it's basically my job to do the same thing for.... boring business crap: quantifying qualitative value. Heck PFF is my dream job to be honest. Think about solutions to the problem you mentioned; finding a player's role in a play. With every bit of data available you could possibly say Star gets pushed back less than a specific guard's average or has 2 OL recorded pushing Star back both less than their average push. To differentiate him from someone trying to blow up a play is tough.. figure out how far each OL went, which DL they came in contact with, the distance between the DL and the carrier at the beginning and end of play and you mitigate a handful of this. On a whole year's worth of plays with this data, I'd say you have an okay guestimate on aggregating Aaron Donald's penetrating his man yet missing the carrier or getting the carrier for a loss vs aggregating Star's push with OL and the need to differentiate role is mitigated by which result was more impactful. So basically you need the top $700,000 per year financial quants working for Goldman Sachs investment on PFF to really nail Star's impact lol. And since PFF is probably a pretty loose operation I don't think we need super valuable people in society's talent being wasted grading Star by a marginally more accurate model. I'm sure the PFF graders are great and all.. and I think with infinite data you can be really accurate with grades more than most end up dismissing it.. so long as the graders are smart, technical, know football and essentially address the same problems you bring up. I say we team up and create a competitor to PFF mjt338. Only we create an algorithm secretly created for Bills inflation of course. -
Potential Bubble players from Spotrac
Bing Bong replied to BarleyNY's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Man, spotrac is awesome. Wow.. I'd literally sign every bubble receiver available as far down as Cameron Meridith and draw the line there for recievers of various depth chart roles. I really like all those options! -
Knicks had the early 90s Ewing teams which were pretty good and super fun at least. It was a team of enforcers lol.. Charles Oakley and Anthony Mason we're probably the top 2 maniac enforcers in the league.. on the same team! Lol Serious question row, when, if ever, does one have the moral high ground to seek changing fandom. NBA.. NFL.. I always loved the Knicks. Loved Melo, Kristaps, now Trier.. and I think I still love them, I really do. But in the back of my mind I know I'm in an abusive relationship and my wife named Knickerbockers beats the crap out of me when I come home from a hard Day's work. And today she cheated on me (again) and had her lover beat the crap out of me and lock me out of my own house I paid for. But I still love the her, I love the Knicks, and I promised in my marriage and fandom vows to stay until death does me in. Would I be horrible for tepidly rooting for the Mavs (stadium is right across the street from me, I go to 20+ games a year) of Bucks fan (my brother's team). See my posts above ^. What would row do?

Being a fan of the Knicks is like.. if the Bills had Petermans everywhere.. every season lol. And Terry Pegs fired every crappy Peterman caliber coach in favor of the Petermans. because the Peterman-coaches are the sole problem and Pegs thinks the Peterman OL, DL CBs and Ks and another Peterman coach might fix everything along with signing a Peterman FB for a 40M 3 year deal fully guaranteed. and then we draft Luke Kuechly but can't re-sign him after his rookie contract after we signed a Peterman FA to be in cap hell the year prior to Kuechly's contract expiration What I'm trying to say is.. I've been rooting for Petermaknickerbockers of the 30 NBA teams my whole life. And my allegience as a Bills fan would be a moral dilemma to me if we paid so many Petermans for so much money for 25 years
-
Dude.. absolutely spot f******g on. plan for specific offseason -> tank and draft star -> strike out on big name FAs -> overpay mediocre players with cap space -> suck -> trade bad contracts for expiring deals 4 years later They're gonna miss on the 4 Marquis FA, regardless even if they get one, they're not nearly good enough to be any better than the Pelicans with AD (probably worse without a True Holiday). They literally need 2-3 max guys, 2 being 2 of KD, Kemba Walker, AD, Kyrie, Kawhi, Paul George, whoever I'm missing. They sign Kris Middleton and like.. Jaylen Brown to max deals. Guarantee it. They're getting Zion (and trading him 2-4 years later) second tier FAs for Max contracts that they will salary dump 2-4 years later AS THEY DID WITH MELO + NOAH, TIM HARDAWAY JR + KRISTAPS, and now Kris friggin Middleton. AND REPEAT. OVER AND OVER AGAIN. WHAT THE HELL. Dude.. they drafted Tim Hardaway Jr, gave him away, then signed him to a max. They traded Kristaps for Dennis Smith Jr who they passed on in the draft for Frank NTILIKINA. And this is literally the biggest salary dump in league history right now. This trade has me on the edge as a Knicks fan. Bill Simmons said Knicks fans are at serious major odds with management by this point and the length and magnitude of ineptitude merits considering finding another team. The management is something I don't know how to deal with as a fan. The Bills haven't even come close to making me feel like that. All those posts people make after a poor Bills season how they're giving up are friggin p***is as fans compared to what us Knicks fans endure.

How Does a Bills Loss Affect Your Life?
Bing Bong replied to Billsfanatic8989's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm pissed until making playoffs is untenable.. same way with wins, which made this season super boring and extra horrible since I checked out after week 2 only watching to see what Edmunds and JA had to offer I'll admit the first few weeks figuring out what team we have is pretty unhealthy for me. Thankfully it doesn't last long -
It's 50/50. It only eliminates poorly ran franchises. Harden didn't want out of OK, KD didn't like management choosing Russ over him to run the team, or the coach. AD wanted out of NO. Spurs do just fine. It holds management 1000x more accountable and doesn't waste away the years of Barry Sanders's. GSW were nothing before they built their team through the draft. But I'll concede it certainly eliminates some team building strategy.. but more to the extent that it forces team building strategy to a higher standard. Chargers aren't allowed to blow Phillip Rivers' career for 7+ years in between his great teams from 2007 to 2019. Rivers demands a trade to the Bills in my NBA/NFL hybrid world. JMO

Kristaps Porzingis requested and got a trade from the Knicks. It happened today they say it takes half the time you spent with someone to truly get over them. It'll be a tough 1.5 years but I will work on bettering myself and learning new skills.
-
So weird considering the situation though. KP hasn't played a year, and goes off in one day. Only thing I can think of is they pushed hard for KP for AD.. and KP got pissed, proving himself for the incompetent team that maxes Melo with Joaqin Noah, KP and max Hardaway. It's a player's league and I personally find the news and drama fun! Watch game of zones sometime. Knowing the Knicks, they are the biggest failure for a big market team in a players' league.. WTF?! how can they not attract guys, let alone retain them. Horribly ran. Watch the premium free agents go elsewhere while the Knicks max second tier players like Kris Middleton.. like they always do. I see it as a "I'm breaking up with you before you break up with me" situation. KP knew Knicks were shopping him since last year. You know they were pushing HARD for Anthony Davis's. I don't get mad at players for requesting out any more than I get mad at teams for trading players that want to stay.. why side with the teams. NBA is the most fun league for me because the power is even, and the resulting drama is like watching Game of Thrones
-
Never thought I'd be that guy.. but I might revoke my Knicks fandom this is inexcusable. The last straw it's fun! Best league in pro sports. Any league where the power dynamic is comparable to Game of Thrones is a dope league. The NFL parody show would be like.. Westworld

90s Bills legacy in serious jeopardy next year...
Bing Bong replied to Big Turk's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
never understood why people said 4 in a row was "never going to happen again" when the Bills literally followed Elway's Broncos that made 3 out of 4 and a decade ago the Vikings went 3 out of 4. Dolphins made 3 in a row, Cowboys made 3 of 4 in the 70s, then 3 of 4 in the 90s, now the Patriots. 7 times in NFL history a team has made 3 or 4 of 4 and chances are that team's good enough to have a good shot at 4 when that happens. -
Tyrell Williams ain't great. He's maybe good good but that's a roll of the dice for me when you take him away from Keenan Allen and the gang. I'd take him for lack of anything better but he will not have bigger contract than Sammy.. can not see Tyrell Williams getting that much. The league thought very highly of Sammy his whole career up to his last contract. Tyrell seems more a blip on the radar we're talking about because he's MAYBE the best available of a super mediocre class Then again..

Right Tackle market shaping up

He's a damn good franchise Madden player too. ALWAYS RELOCATE AND DEMAND A TRADE first thing in Madden. You rule the fake tabloids. Stops the game from spamming press releases about how Blake Bortles is on his way to his 7th MVP and 5th consecutive 6,000 yard season. Damn! How did we let him slip away!
