It's a gamble that a number of teams will be looking at. Bills have a late 6th (#203). If he was still there (I doubt it) I would do it.

Any team can restructure and get money every single year. There is no debate about that. Do you know which team with a high $ QB that did not restructure one penny last year? KC Chiefs. Mahomes played on his full cap hit. They let a high $ WR go (because they didn't want to pay big bucks for a WR). Some fans should look at KC and what the Pats* did concerning the handling of the cap instead of the Saints who won 1 Superbowl back when smartphones just came out and never returned to the Superbowl. KC has a lot of big decisions this offseason, that's who I'm going to be watching. For any fans curious look at their cap situation AND their FA list I will post them below. https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/kansas-city-chiefs/cap/ https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/free-agents/kansas-city-chiefs/

The Saints had a great D last couple of years. They got a lot of expensive UFAs they won't sign. What people don't watch is the players they let walk every year, they only see the "signed" players. Glad Carr went there and not to an AFC team. I don't expect them to have a great team but in that weak division they will have a chance. Agree, I would not use their model as a smart one.

Report: Dolphins exploring “moving on” from Tua
ColoradoBills replied to Big Blitz's topic in The Stadium Wall
Miami's picks this year are a 2, 3, 3, 6 and 7. Next year it's 1, 2, 3, 5, 6 and 7. They would have to wipe out their drafts for a Rodgers/Jackson trade. The Bradley Chubb trade wiped out their cap (-$15M) and they have Tua, Austin Jackson and Igbinoghene all up for 5th year options this year. They got a lot of decisions ahead of them. I don't see anyone but Tua playing QB for them this year. Skylar Thompson can't be their fall back if Tua goes down so they have to get a decent backup QB that will cost more than normal. I don't understand why so many are worried about them. Good players on the team but in a tough position. -
It doesn't bug me in the least that Von goes to the combine and plays GM in training. What I don't want is him pretending he is the Bills Junior GM or trying to influence any decisions at OBD. He can speak his piece in private to McDermott and Beane but I didn't care for the whole OBJ thing done in public. That's just my opinion.

Thanks, I correct my post.

Not being a huge college football fan, I leave the evaluations to those who are. I do want the offense to be heavy in the draft. That said, I would be willing to take a game changer replacement for Edmunds in the 1st round IF, at a minimum, the next 3 picks go to the offense. Then with the 5th rounder it could go either way with offense or defense. I believe a RG (who could sub in RT), WR, C, and TE are needed in the draft as of now. For my money there are plenty of cheaper RBs in FA. Agree, like I just posted.
-
I agree. I also agree with many on here that he has to go back to LG and I will add that he needs to work full time at the position. Get a true C backup for Morse.

I'm not a fan of Day 1 TEs. Historically it's a tough position to judge in the draft. I am a believer that it's just as much about the offensive scheme to make a good TE as anything. Every year there is all this talk about "elite" TEs in the draft and at best you typically get a guy just above the norm in the league. When a team does get a 1st round TE, they feel they have to force the ball to him to justify the pick. Often, I feel they are not that much better than a guy picked latter. But that's just me.
-
It's another reason I want to see the OL fixed. Knox needs to get out on more routes instead of blocking too much of the time.
-
That's a lot of TEs going early. Wow. As for Gesicki, I see him a TE in name only. Not too sure that is what Beane is looking for. @GunnerBillsays there is still some value in TEs in the 4th and 5th rounds. Sounds like a spot Beane could be interested in.

Lamar Jackson wants guarantees that exceed Watson contract
ColoradoBills replied to SCBills's topic in The Stadium Wall
They're talking about Rodgers on NFLN right now. Rodgers just said, "I'll make a decision soon enough". The guy is so full of himself. As to his contract and future I hope it messes up the Packers, so others won't follow suit. -
It is looking like a lot of RBs are available for that money this year. No way I want a 1st round RB.
-
The time to sign Fournette was back in 2020 when he signed for $2M and then for $3M the next year. I wanted him badly back then but it's a big NO on him now.
-
There are a lot of WR4s in FA. Beane will get one there. Some guy will sign to try to rejuvenate his career. I just hope is it resembles what KC did with Juju. Then he picks one in the draft. That's how I see it going down. As for Gabe Davis, he knows exactly what he has to do to improve. We'll see if he can do it.

Beane/McDermott Speak to the Media at Scouting Combine
ColoradoBills replied to Warcodered's topic in The Stadium Wall
I'm sticking with what my "take" on it and will just wait to see what unfolds. What I didn't get a clue on is the OL. I small comment was all I heard. It's the real question I'll have to wait and see on. -
Beane/McDermott Speak to the Media at Scouting Combine
ColoradoBills replied to Warcodered's topic in The Stadium Wall
What I got is Edmunds is gone, Oliver plays out his 5th year option (they wait until next year to decide) and the cap is going to be a bit of a hassle for the next 2 years (I already knew 2024 is going to be hard too). Benford to S. Gabe's job to lose and Beane will draft a WR (we don't know which round). Also, we all will have to see what Beane can get done in FA (not a real lot) to kind of see what will happen in the draft. That's what I read between the lines. -
He is not the kind of long-term backup I would want.
-
Beane will draft a WR. None of us know WHEN that will happen. I know it's not the trend on this board, but I haven't given up on Gabe yet. He does need competition.
-
He's turning 37 this season. I'd like to see a 25-29 year old guy who has the chance to be the backup for a number of years. Kyle Allen and Mike White type of guys who are willing to become that long-term backup on a good team. Stability at the position. If they have a guy like that, the 3rd string can be UDFA types for the PS and you might get lucky.

Leslie Frazier "taking a year off from coaching" per Bills PR
ColoradoBills replied to Roundybout's topic in The Stadium Wall
Thank you, Leslie Frazier, for your service. Change is the one constant in life. I do believe it is time for a new system and scheme concerning the Buffalo Bills defense. Things were getting stale and predictable. Good Luck to the new DC and do us proud! -
Agree with Bates having to go back to LG where he belongs. The other thing about Bates is the backup C stuff. Any time that Morse is out (even for a few plays) moving Bates to C and bringing in some horrible depth guy is not the answer. Draft Morse's replacement this year. Need a very good RG. It would help Brown (I see him getting another year to start). Brown is very good at run blocking and I do think he has a chance to improve in pass protection. Add one good depth guy (always injuries on the OL) preferably with right side talent. That's the 3 new guys.

A picture of Von Miller and D Henry
ColoradoBills replied to Warriorspikes51's topic in The Stadium Wall
He will cost picks and money. I want a decent OL in from of Josh. It's my opinion. -
No "guru" over here either. I have watched football evolve for longer than I care to admit, and I see the O-Line being the Achilles heel of this team. Last year I let a lot of smart fans on this board talk me out of putting big resources into the O-Line. I think Beane and McDermott thought they did the right thing too. They were all wrong. You take out Dawkins and Morse and the other 3 spots have been a revolving door of JAGs or less. Morse, at any moment could be out of the league, so what is really left? They got away with a lot (and I'm hearing more of the same), Josh can make up for it. I disagree. Josh is getting older and a little heavier (he likes his food) and will get a little slower. It's time, this year, to put in the effort in the OL (even if it's a detriment to other areas) this year. They need to put a core of 3-4 players who will play together for a number of years. Period. A late 20's FA with 2 drafted OL this year. Draft a WR somewhere in the top 4 and get a bigger bodied RB for cheap in FA. Plug the D the best you can and think about re-stocking some D next year. I'm dying on this hill and if Beane keeps doing what he has been doing with the OL I will be disappointed.
