Per Shefty - Bills “expected to lose” Poyer and Edmunds
ColoradoBills replied to BeastMode54's topic in The Stadium Wall
It happens every year. Lots of fans wanting these players and then they sign with another team for big money. The answer is "they were crazy to sign "player x" for that"! Well sorry, that is the FA game. It's what makes cap management so hard for every GM. -
Lamar Jackson wants guarantees that exceed Watson contract
ColoradoBills replied to SCBills's topic in The Stadium Wall
I for one would never "carry water" for NFL owners and GMs. That being said this Lamar stuff has been going on for a long time, so any team that would have interest would already know if they were interested in a $250M fully guaranteed contract. Do fans actually believe that none of these GMs considered the possibility of the Ravens tagging Lamar with a non-exclusive? As soon as the tag went up the media is all over these guys asking, "Are you interested in Jackson for those numbers"? They just answered as I would have. No. -

Tom Pelissero on NFLN right now predicting Edmunds gets a Monster Contract. FWIW. -
No way that GB would wait a year to get their 1st round pick.

Additions and losses. That is what I wasn't sure of. Thanks! -
Should we trade Ed Oliver?
ColoradoBills replied to Floridagatorsbuffalobills's topic in The Stadium Wall
Yes, they are, but they also are loyal to the Pegula's and the long-term team goals. Part of me thinks this year could be a "reset" with the team. Not just with players but with their own schemes and beliefs. @Victory Formationhad a post earlier that may be one of those options. There are a whole lot of FAs and even RFAs that may be walking this year. The makeup of the team could be a lot different. I can envision a plan that addresses a lot of these issues and maybe Oliver will just be something they wait until next year to deal with. Wow, I forgot he is that old. -

I tend to agree. Oliver, Settle and Jones are all on their last year. It's a tough situation that Beane is in. If Oliver thinks he is getting big money due to his draft status I think he is mistaken. Spotrac has his value at $10M and I think that's too high. -

LOL true. It was a part of the tank IMO. The Bears won't play without a big name LB. They either get one in FA or the draft. -

He is and will get paid like one. The average of the top 5 ILBs currently is $18M per year. -

Edmunds is going to get paid. I predict at least $15M per year. The Bears have nobody at LB and $100M in cap space. Other teams with money who will be interested in a MLB are ATL, LVR, NE and maybe even the Bengals. HOU has cap and Kirksey (wrong side of 30) and is on his last year of his contract with only a $1M dead cap if cut saving $5.25M. Edmunds and his agent will be having a fun time in FA. -
Who's our slot WR in 2023, Shakir or...?
ColoradoBills replied to Nephilim17's topic in The Stadium Wall
I like some of you who say a guy like Parris Campbell. I can see that. I don't see any big $ guys signed in FA at all. McKenzie will go to camp. If he falls down the depth chart he gets cut in September. Beane will need some cash for the PS and season. I see the same with a guy like Siran Neal. Beane probably will be looking for a guy like Campbell in FA for the outside depth too. He then can have some flexibility as to who and what round to draft 1 WR. It's in Josh Allen's DNA to want to hold on to the ball a little longer than a lot of QBs in the league. It's why I want a good amount of help on the OL. With a little more time Josh can tear up any D even with "less than stellar" WRs. IMO. -
Diggs unfollows Buffalo, follows Cowgirls 🤷♂️
ColoradoBills replied to DaggersEOD's topic in The Stadium Wall
I am an AARP'er and that is an awesome statement. I have been saying stuff like that for decades. I started way back in the "yuppie" days with the "Caution: Baby on Board" signs on cars. As for all this Diggs' stuff, as long as the locker room is fine with him, I don't care. If the day comes and he really wants out, get rid of him. -

That's interesting. Thanks. So, if a team tried to get a top 10 player at each position group, they would have a cap hit of $191.5M for 10 players. Cap this year is $224.8M. LOL, don't need to be a math wizard to know that wouldn't work! -
IF the Bills did trade down, Who would you like?
ColoradoBills replied to Victory Formation's topic in The Stadium Wall
The best way I see a team wanting to jump up to #27 would be a 1st round talent still available on their board that they want. It would most likely be a team from #29 through #39. That's somewhere from a 4th rounder to a lower end 3rd. I would love if a team like Arizona traded up from #34 and threw in a #96. The thing is hoping for that team to want to do that and the teams 1-2 slots above not wanting to trade back. I really hope Beane gets that option! -

I could ask the question. Do the KC Chiefs sign a MLB to that kind of money? I think that answer is no. The Buffalo Bills are now a mature team that has to be selective to where the big money goes. -

ColoradoBills replied to ngbills's topic in The Stadium Wall
Question for the Board (I can't find anything specific when I searched for it). If a team signs a player (released/not a free agent) from this thread. Does that player count against the signing teams compensatory pick formula? I know a free agent from another team counts, but not sure about "released" players who become FAs. Edit: I know that if a team releases a player, that is not a plus for the comp formula, I'm asking the reverse. -
All of what you said can be done. I just don't think it will happen. An Edmunds signing would shock me. The biggest question I have is about fully restructuring Von. Beane already took the small hit on his 1st year (like you mentioned). Pushing a bunch of guaranteed cap into the future on Miller will add another "realistic" year to his contract. It's a gamble with his age and ACL. Beane might go for a few million in restructure, but I would be shocked if he took all of it out. I'm often wrong, but I just don't see a big FA signing year.

Lamar Jackson wants guarantees that exceed Watson contract
ColoradoBills replied to SCBills's topic in The Stadium Wall
This collusion stuff works with Lamar because of all the stuff going on with him since he was being drafted. These "pundits" know it will get the clicks up and that's just what certain people in the sports media want. Lamar screwed up and the Ravens did the smart thing to tag him with the "unrestricted". An agent would have explained that option clearly to him. One of these teams may change their minds IF Lamar adjusts his demands. The question is, what will Lamar do now? Answer, no one knows, I'm afraid not even Lamar himself. Lamar created this situation; he was offered a credible contract right after Josh signed. The ball is in his court. -

If history is any indication, Beane will restructure enough to get under the cap before the "ides of March" and restructure as he signs. I don't expect him to do it all at once. -
My post said SELDOM. Are you willing to have Tre on the Bills for one-year contract for $22M if nobody wants to trade? It's a yes or no question.

Lamar Jackson wants guarantees that exceed Watson contract
ColoradoBills replied to SCBills's topic in The Stadium Wall
I know a lot of fans do. I just happen to think Lamar should have signed a "just better than Josh" contract 2 years ago. It's not a risk for the Ravens anymore. They are just to the point where they said, they did all they could and sign the divorce papers. -

I know everyone and their dog has an opinion on this, but I think the Ravens tried to deal fairly with Lamar and he just refuses to be rationale. They are done with it. -

ColoradoBills replied to SCBills's topic in The Stadium Wall
Exactly. I'm going with Atlanta because of the cap on hand and their picks will make the Ravens say goodbye. Lamar HAS to pick one of these teams. I just can't see him playing on the tag, BUT if anyone is crazy enough to do it, it's Lamar. LOL -

I'm in right now thinking Atlanta will be the home of Lamar in a couple of weeks. -
Woody Johnson is all in on this idea. He's not getting younger, and for whatever reasons his team needs a QB AGAIN. He doesn't care about "mortgaging the future", he wants a playoff team with a chance to go the distance. It's going to be very interesting to see how this plays out. Jets better get an OL because if Aaron doesn't produce what they want, he will blame EVERYONE but himself. I'm kinda looking forward to this.
