If "old man" Woody is flying to California, then Aaron Rodgers will most likely be a Jet. Rodgers having them fly to him is pretty funny. Aaron and the NY media is going to be crazy! It will make for some great Bills/Jets games next season.

I read a great article a couple of years ago all about the tags and this point was brought up. The league's timing as to the rules are set up to limit teams from doing the tag/trade for that purpose. I'm sure the NFLPA was involved.
-
The Tag and Trade stuff is talked about all the time but seldom happens. The deadline is now. Once a player is tagged the team has to clear enough cap space to keep him. The window to trade him is one week. If no one want to trade you're screwed with the players cap, and it hurts trying to bring in any other FAs. It's a risk, not a guarantee for teams without a lot of cap space.

I can see that from one perspective it's "cold blooded" BUT in a way I'm sure Frank Clark (who is still 29) is glad he is now able to find a team he feels comfortable with (instead of being traded to one he doesn't) and gets one more good-paying contract. I for one do not believe this bull that he has "lost his game" and is done in the NFL. They mutually parted ways due to both having different objectives.

My interest in all this (along with the Tyreek Hill trade) is some speculation on my part, but I'll say it. It seems to me they a following a bit of the Pats* scheme with Brady. Role the higher priced WR out and bring in the ring hunters or guys looking to put up number for a bigger contract. With Mahomes (and I personally believe Allen), this is not a bad thing to consider. Don't pay RBs big money and have a game changing TE. Put a decent line in front of your "elite" QB and let him play. FWIW.

He was on his last year of his contract. He no doubt wanted longer terms that KC was unwilling to give. KC is probably smart just saying let's part ways instead of having a disgruntled player on his last year. Sometimes trying to get a trade is not worth it. They may get a comp pick for him next draft anyways.

@Zerovoltzhad a good reply. I think most people don't understand where I personally am coming from. I think the Chiefs are handling the cap (which is real) in a pretty good way the last few years. They are moving prominent guys in and out at what appears to be the right pace (and time). Something Bills fans will need to get used to. They also are taking advantage of their success to bring in some players that a trying to use them to get bigger contracts. The Juju move last year was real good. Not sure if they re-sign him. All these things I watch with some interest. After some of my discussions earlier today, let me end with this. The Chiefs (unfortunately) seem to have a good system. Beane no doubt is watching them closely. Teams Beane shouldn't be watching are teams like the Saints. They are flailing like two girls fighting in the school yard.

Diggs unfollows Buffalo, follows Cowgirls 🤷♂️
ColoradoBills replied to DaggersEOD's topic in The Stadium Wall
I usually don't get too concerned over things like this BUT this stuff does affect things. If there is a chance that Diggs in truly wanting out (let's say by next year) it could affect Beane and any restructure plans he might have had for Diggs this year. All this drama stuff doesn't not help the bottom line for the team. -
I agree for the reasons most of us are saying. The sad part of this it takes a good G off the boards for this year just when Beane could use one. I wanted Beane to draft a pure experienced RG, now maybe it has to bring in some college RTs who can play both spots. Not sure if that's going to be an option. For sure the team can't afford another Cody Ford.

There will be a whole lot of teams with multiple late round pick and comp picks who will swing the bat on him before the 7th.
-
It's a gamble that a number of teams will be looking at. Bills have a late 6th (#203). If he was still there (I doubt it) I would do it.
-
Any team can restructure and get money every single year. There is no debate about that. Do you know which team with a high $ QB that did not restructure one penny last year? KC Chiefs. Mahomes played on his full cap hit. They let a high $ WR go (because they didn't want to pay big bucks for a WR). Some fans should look at KC and what the Pats* did concerning the handling of the cap instead of the Saints who won 1 Superbowl back when smartphones just came out and never returned to the Superbowl. KC has a lot of big decisions this offseason, that's who I'm going to be watching. For any fans curious look at their cap situation AND their FA list I will post them below. https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/kansas-city-chiefs/cap/ https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/free-agents/kansas-city-chiefs/

The Saints had a great D last couple of years. They got a lot of expensive UFAs they won't sign. What people don't watch is the players they let walk every year, they only see the "signed" players. Glad Carr went there and not to an AFC team. I don't expect them to have a great team but in that weak division they will have a chance. Agree, I would not use their model as a smart one.

Report: Dolphins exploring “moving on” from Tua
ColoradoBills replied to Big Blitz's topic in The Stadium Wall
Miami's picks this year are a 2, 3, 3, 6 and 7. Next year it's 1, 2, 3, 5, 6 and 7. They would have to wipe out their drafts for a Rodgers/Jackson trade. The Bradley Chubb trade wiped out their cap (-$15M) and they have Tua, Austin Jackson and Igbinoghene all up for 5th year options this year. They got a lot of decisions ahead of them. I don't see anyone but Tua playing QB for them this year. Skylar Thompson can't be their fall back if Tua goes down so they have to get a decent backup QB that will cost more than normal. I don't understand why so many are worried about them. Good players on the team but in a tough position. -
It doesn't bug me in the least that Von goes to the combine and plays GM in training. What I don't want is him pretending he is the Bills Junior GM or trying to influence any decisions at OBD. He can speak his piece in private to McDermott and Beane but I didn't care for the whole OBJ thing done in public. That's just my opinion.

Thanks, I correct my post.
