Happy Veterans Day to all Bills Nation Veterans
jkeerie replied to MAJBobby's topic in The Stadium Wall
Thank you to all my fellow veterans! I was proud to have served. My late father always used to say: "I have three sons, but my daughter is the Captain in the Air Force."- 54 replies

Watching the UB @ Miami game. Van Trease turns the ball over. One play later, Miami is up by 7.

The one area where you see a difference without Brown is the wide-receiver screen. Smoke used to break those for long gains, sometimes to the house. It's not the same when we run them with Beasley.

Didn't you see the movie "Animal House?"

There was a good interview with Beane in the Buffalo News yesterday. Here's what he said about trades: The Buffalo News: The trade deadline came and went Tuesday and you guys decided to stand pat. What went into that decision? Brandon Beane: “You know me. We looked at a lot of things, and took calls, but just where our roster is at, it had to be something that, if we’re going to lose this player, that makes sense. Either something that’s going to help us now, or we know we’re going to turn it into something in the future that makes sense. Not a late pick, when you get down in the draft. So we looked, but at the end of the day, the deadline brings all this stuff, but the one thing people don’t realize is, you’ve got a 17-game season. You’ve got seven teams that now make the playoffs, and you’ve got certain teams with GMs and head coaches that are fighting for their job. It really narrows the pool of guys and teams that are actually willing to do something that I will call a win-win.” BN: So you got calls. Did you make any calls? BB: “Yeah, definitely made calls, and I didn’t just pick up the phone Monday afternoon or Tuesday morning. We’ve had calls with teams. The deadline is the deadline, and maybe it puts some urgency on it, but we’ve gotten calls all season and we’ve made calls at certain times to check in and say, ‘Hey, if your situation changes’ ... like, you might call a team, knowing it’s three weeks before the deadline, ‘Would you guys ever move anyone off this position?’ Maybe they tell you, they wouldn’t do player A, but we’ll do player B or C. Or we would consider it. Or, you tell them, ‘This is the player I’d like. If anything changes on your end, let me know.’ And we track them. That’s a lot of the conversations. Some of that was follow up Monday and Tuesday, of, ‘All right, I know we talked a few weeks ago, is this a player you’d be willing to part with?’ Either it was, but it was too premium of a price, or it was ‘No, we’re fighting our butts off for our own team.’ It takes two to make a trade...and I for one am glad that Beane looks at the total cost of whatever opportunity may be there.

Totally agree with your post. The last thing I want for the Bills to do is get to and yet lose another Super Bowl. Imagine the national jokes that would follow. Right now, the best team in football is Arizona. They win decisively with their backups. I thought for a while it was the Rams, but after last night...nope. They are a finesse team...and yesterday revealed they crack under pressure. So...for this week, I am interested in what McD does to right the ship. Does he make the uneasy decisions to bring this team back to winning form...benching players, challenging coaches, etc...particularly on the offensive side of the ball? From there, it's one week at a time with hopefully steady improvement, and then we'll just see. Playoff seeding...who cares? Is this team even good enough to win it's division in light of the Pats success? My expectations are lowered...and in truth, it makes it easier to watch and enjoy football. Virgil...I'm actually glad you are refraining from your usually objective and well-expressed accounts of the Bills games, in light of yesterday's debacle. I mean...what else is left to say? And I do hope that whatever issues are distracting and disturbing you at present pass quickly.

That's why they're running to the right. -

At least we crapped the bed on the road. These home team whoopings are ridiculous. -

Stafford just pulled a Josh Allen. It happens when a QB has no protection. -

Bobby Hart turnstile at LT. -
Everyone was crowning Dallas as NFC champs and they got beaten badly at home by Denver. Bad games happen to good teams. That's why you can never count your chickens.

I thought I was seeing things! That o line moved early so many times with no flags! Thank you for posting this.

The Bills don’t deserve this level of fan support
jkeerie replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall
I always appreciate your posts Virgil...because they're generally objective. This loss hurts the fans more than the team...because we counted it as a sure win. The team does hurt in standings and position...but I think we fans are feeling it more. There is nothing we can do about it. The team can get back to work and fix what's broken. The question is, do we have the parts? Any team deserves the support of their fan base...if they are making an effort. Feel the way you feel, Virgil, until you don't feel that way any more. The saltiness is clearly felt by many as generally there are more posts after a poor performance than a good one. -
I'll agree to disagree. Crosby has been pretty solid at kicker until Bojo's arrival. I think he's making a negative difference, although he is one heck of a punter.

I don't think it was arrogance by McD regarding Ford. Ford had worked hard on things in practice and they needed a guard, so Ford was next up. I think after they review the film, we may not see Ford again. -
Doesn't having the laces to one side or another affect the direction of the kick? As to the bad snap, you may be correct.
-
You're right...albeit Williams started last year at RT and was moved inside due to Brown's emergence. I think Bates is better out there than Ford at the very least, but I don't know if they've ever tried him at guard.
-
They just focused on Bojo's holds on the Red Zone. The first, laces were to the right. In the second, the laces faced the kicker. Not good.

He said their kicker had not attempted anything as long this year and he thought it was a good bet he'd miss from that range. -
I think he just needs to get stronger...physically and mentally.
-
Totally agree. Dawkins, IMO, has not fully recovered from his bout with covid. Clearly Ford cannot play any position on the o line. If our backups are better players (e.g. Bates) we need to put them out there. The weakest link in the chain is the most important. It can break the chain.

I agree with your take. I don't know what happened to the creative play calling we used to have. We're trying to force feed the run and the o line isn't good enough. As far as the Patriots...they may well win the division. They're solid o line play is making a difference in their offensive execution. I just want to see some changes this week by the offensive coaching staff...o line and play calling. Quite frankly, the best teams in the league are in the NFC...paricularly the Rams. I'll be watching them closely tonight.
