Maybe you are thinking of somebody else. I think it is one of his worst performances, but I don't recall saying it definately was his single worst performance ever.
-
I think Diggs should have caught it. The game analyst on the broadcast explained perfectly why Allen shouldn't have taken something off it and why Diggs should have caught it.
-
Add up his rushing and passing. He still turned the ball over more than he scored. If it was all through the air we would still be saying that he had a relatively poor game for his normal standard of play. It's not the end of the world. Even the best QB's have bad games sometimes.
-
Allen needs MORE bad weather games. He is going to have to learn to deal with them. He isn't going to just be lucky and never play another bad weather game in January. He needs to get to the point that it is a strength rather than a weakness.
-
No, that ball should have been caught. Allen needs to zip those ones in there. It was a specific window and timing that he needs to hit on that throw and he hit it perfectly. Diggs just wasn't ready for it. On some of the other throws, I agree. There was a check down to Singletary that he threw way too hard. He was getting some pressure. On that one, throwing to a running back in space just a few yards away, he needed to take some off of that.
-
That's all fine and dandy, but this WAS one of Allen's worst games. That's fine, because we still got the win. Even in one of his worst games he was able to overcome it and still make some plays. A rating of 61 is ridiculous, though. Aaron Rodgers is at 67 for the season. 50 is supposed to be average. The dude threw three interceptions and had less than 50% completion percentage. QBR highly overrates rushing stats.
-
ESPN thinks he did well. His QBR is 61.5 for this game, further illustrating how useless QBR is. Allen did some nice things on the ground, but he'll be the first to tell you that this was one of his poorest games. But he still did enough to win and has lots to learn from and work on for the next poor weather game.

When was the last time a team hasn’t punted in 2 straight games?
MJS replied to SUNTANBILLS FAN's topic in The Stadium Wall
Ok. Technically I'm celebrating this momentous feat. But only technically. -
Don't overreact to individual performances or especially individual plays. It's never as bad or as good as it seems. This game had poor weather conditions and multiple dropped balls by receivers (including another dropped TD). Two of Josh's INTs were tipped passes. Josh just needs to play in some more of these bad weather games to get a better feel for what he can and can't do. There's a real adjustment that needs to be made for these games. Receivers have cold hands and the ball is harder, so catching his bullet passes is a lot more difficult, receivers are slower out of their breaks because of poor footing, etc.

We aren't counting free kicks? Seems convenient. -
Good teams don't need signature wins anymore. Signature wins are for those teams that have yet to prove themselves and are on the path to doing so. That was the 2019 and early 2020 Bills.

Can we finally put the need for a dome stadium to rest?
MJS replied to Bubba Gump's topic in The Stadium Wall
Josh Allen has proved to be a bit shaky in bad weather games. What does that tell me? He needs to keep playing in them until he is no longer shaky. Get more and more experience in the rain, snow, and wind and he will figure out what he can and can't do. It's a certainty that he will have to play in bad weather playoff games in the years going forward. Better for him to work through it than just hope to play in a dome. -
So winning playoff games at home doesn't count? You think he needs to win a ROAD playoff game to prove he is a good coach? Just stupid how the goal posts keep moving. McDermott is a great coach and has built a perennially contending team. He got the team to the AFC Championship game last year. He has a really good win-loss record. He is widely respected around the entire league. He coaches a team with both a good offense and a good defense. People need to just appreciate what he has done and stop waiting for him to fail. Get over your Bills insecurities and realize what a special era this is for Bills football. Stop trying to undercut the man that brought this all to you. McDermott built all of this. Yes, he had help along the way, but this is his team, his culture, and everything goes through him.

Penalty? Ok. But a fine for that? That's surprising.
-
Absolutely. It's just because of how it ended with him, but the majority of his time here he was an elite pass rusher.
-
Oh yeah, that would be great. I'll take 8-10 sacks in a heartbeat.

This will be an interesting off-season. With the vets gone in Hughes and Addison, the young guys will need to step up. Honestly, Obada has been promising the last few weeks. We've seen flashes from the rookies. I remember Bills coaches and players talking Epenesa up so much in the preseason, but he hasn't been a factor in the regular season. It is for sure disappointing. I agree completely. I do think it would be great to have that finisher. But I do think we have been affecting throws and causing discomfort. It's just been a long time since we had a guy who consistently brought the QB down. Probably Mario Williams was the last guy?

Wow, that's incredible. So proud of him.

All-22 Grades for Bills/Patriots (The Athletic)
MJS replied to HappyDays's topic in The Stadium Wall
Not a coincidence, but Dawkins seemed much more determined than in other games. He was fired up and throwing his body around. He needs to keep thay kind of play up. -
Dang, the Dolphins have a ton of cap space. Maybe they'll spend it all on TE's and not use them much like New England did last off-season. Bates can play center...

Is It Just Me, or Did Motor Get Punked on Angry Runs?
MJS replied to Freddie's Dead's topic in The Stadium Wall
I agree. My vote would be for CEH, but Singletary is a close 2nd. All of them were decent, though. I think if you get immediately tackled by the defender you supposedly trucked (Tua, I'm looking at you) you shouldn't win it, but maybe there weren't other quality candidates that week? -
Seriously. This defensive run has been amazing: 2017: 26th 2018: 2nd 2019: 3rd 2020: 14th 2021: 1st Only poor year was 2017 in their first year here. We think of 2020 being bad, but it was actually average. We were just spoiled. The question is, how much do we attribute to Frazier and how much to McDermott? To muddy the waters even more, we have seen McDermott take play calling away from Frazier in certain games and the defense usually performs better when that happens. But Frazier usually calls plays. He deserves a lot of credit, I think, but this is McDermott's defense. Regardless, Frazier is a great coach.
