I'm more excited by this than the Phillips signing. He is a good edge setter and run defender.

Tre White will probably miss some games at the beginning of the season. For sure CB is a big priority right now. But McDermott likes to make it work with value signings and draft picks.

Yes, he is. He has shown flashes his entire time here. Every time he has filled in for someone he has done a good job. Then, when he had the chance to start he did very well. He's a solid starter at least.

I think so as well, but they will let the dust settle a little bit and sign whoever lost the musical chairs. Hoping for a high draft pick as well. We also need a backup QB.

Yeah, we'll see. I'm really liking what I hear about Settle and what a hard worker and impact player he can be. Maybe they play him and Oliver on obvious pass rush downs and Jones is in on 1st and 2nd down for run stuffing? I was against re-signing Phillips at the time and I'm not too excited to sign him back now. Phillips is not a scheme guy. He does one thing and that's go after the QB. He doesn't play sound football. He doesn't fill appropriate gaps. He is a liability at times. He is a physical force, though.

They'll rotate him during the season to keep him fresh for the playoffs, then he'll see a big jump in his snaps, I'll bet. And I guarantee you he is excited about that. It will prolong his career.
