NFL Head Coaches who also were their teams defensive play callers:
MJS replied to Chaos's topic in The Stadium Wall
Yes. Literally that is what this thread was started for. To compare HC's who called defensive plays. Why? Because the OP cherry picked a couple of names in bad faith and tried to use that to show why McDermott would not be successful. But his list was so incomplete it is laughable. If you are trying to take the conversation somewhere else, that is up to you. -

Shows your lack of research skills. There are so many more HC's over the years, including superbowl winning coaches, who called defensive plays for their teams. Typical Chaos thread. -
And what was his opinion last year when everyone thought the Bills were the superbowl favorites? I'm sure he was singing McDermott's praises. It is popular to go after McDermott and the Bills right now. That's why they are doing it. They say what is popular to get clicks and views.

I bought a Kiko Alonso jersey after his rookie year. -
I'm talking about Cordy Glenn, who was the topic of the post I quoted.

He had one or two good years. We seemed to have a lot of players like that in the drought era. Guys who would play really well for a bit and get us excited, but not live up to it later after we pay them.

When someone says something nice about someone, it doesn't mean they are saying anything bad about another person. His comment has NOTHING to do with Josh Allen. -
Evaluating Head Coaches Methodology, and Applying it to current coaches.

Hmm, I just use win percentage, playoff appearances, playoff wins, championships, and coach of the year awards. I feel like that gets me pretty close to how good a coach is. -
Some of you are like middle schoolers with how you thirstily lap up the gossip. Pathetic.

Just pretend that only two practices were planned.

It all starts somewhere.

What's the issue? I don't get it. He was asked why Diggs didn't do team drills, only positional drills. Do you think there is some other reason?
-
There's no way to know that. Have to just go on reality.

Andy Reid is the best coach in the NFL currently, so I'll go with him. He is the offensive version of Belichick, and offense is increasingly more important. I'll be honest, I think Belichick is a great coach but the NFL is passing him by, a bit.

Fans went from being mildly unsatisfied with Dorsey at the end of the season to full on wanting him fired and believing he is the worst OC in the league. All during THIS offseason. Not sure how this happened because there has been no football played. It is just the shifting mindset of some fans, and it has been voiced so much now that it is becoming reality. It is kind of like the "absence makes the heart grow fonder" principle, but in reverse.

This is just so far off base. I don't know how so many on this board got to the point of thinking that Dorsey is such a huge problem. It was his very first year calling plays. The Bills had a top offense despite plenty of issues and injuries, including to Josh Allen. Did nobody expect some hiccups with a first year playcaller? Nobody thinks he can improve? You guys would have run Josh Allen out of town. Just give the guy a chance to get his new job down and come into his own. And if we fall out of the top 5 in offense this year, then maybe criticize him.

Oversaturated safety market this year.
