Why is Tyrod Taylor not more revered in the Bills fan base?
MJS replied to ChronicAndKnuckles's topic in The Stadium Wall
Well, he had an OK run, but I think he is not well liked because of how it progressed and ended with him. He went from being a dual threat with a really pretty deep ball who could win you games, all while taking care of the ball, to a complete coward who would not throw the ball to open receivers or take any risk even when the game was on the line. And he didn't even run that much either, by the end. By the end he was just too hard to watch. And that's why McDermott benched him, because Tyrod was too conservative and the rest of the team could not overcome his risk-aversion to win games. But in totality, he is one of the better QB's in Bills history, mainly because there aren't that many good QB's in Bills history. It is easier to watch a gunslinger who turns it over too much but at least tries like Fitz did, than it is to watch someone who will never pull the trigger, even if they don't turn it over much. Also with Fitz, a big reason fans like him is because of his personality and the fact that he really loves Buffalo and continues to speak highly of it even years later. He's asking why. So, why is that, in your opinion? -
The comment was specifically about receivers, but you are always moving the goalposts. The Chiefs have one elite receiving option in Kelce, the Bills have one elite receiving option in Diggs. The rest are not as consequential of weapons. I think the Bills and Chiefs are in similar shoes when it comes to their receiving weapons. The Chiefs have a better oline, though, and Mahomes is more consistently elite than Allen. The Chiefs for sure have a better offense overall, I think. But they do not have elite wide receivers at all. That is one of their weak spots, and they have tried to address it in the draft and free agency with mixed results.

The Chiefs have mediocre receivers.

Wow. Quite the strong take, here. There's no reason to believe that.

The Bills could have won the superbowl those years too. They've been good enough for a couple of years now and they'll be good enough this year too. But so are other teams. We don't have the best QB. Mahomes is better. Burrow is close to or at Allen's level too, although quite a different style. I'd argue that Allen has a lower floor than both of them and maybe others as well, but his ceiling is as high as anyone's.

How is linebacker not the weakest unit? It is by far. The weakness of the receiving group is overstated.

Untapped potential? He is 30. This is his 9th season. He does not have any untapped potential. He is who he is: a decent WR.

Hard to separate when he is holding on to you.

How long does it take an NFL head coach to reach his 1st Super Bowl?
MJS replied to Einstein's topic in The Stadium Wall
And, I think most would agree that was exceptional. Most coaches do not get fired under those circumstances. There are exceptions, and this is one of them. And it usually does not work out. Sometimes it does, but often the team regresses. -
Hey, I'd take more comfy seats. That would nice. To me, a stadium is good when it has good food options, decently comfortable seats, and a great view of the field.

Looking at the Bills’ schedule there’s games with big ramifications.
MJS replied to Tipster19's topic in The Stadium Wall
They won 9 games last year. They haven't had a double digit season since 2017. Before that? 2007. You don't get to add playoff games to your regular season record. They were 1 game over .500. Good thing they had an extra game with the new 17 game schedule or they would have been 8-8 and missed the playoffs. With a pitifully easy schedule, no less. -

How about double digit wins? How about playoff wins? How about getting to the conference championship? How about having success for more than one season (and the Jags's "breakout" season was barely better than average.) Just a laughable take. -

Hilarious. You are actually serious with this crap? -

That is not proving anything. Getting to 9-8 and losing a game in the playoffs does not vault you to the #1 seed. -

I am not going to project the Jags, of all teams, to become a great team. They have to prove it to me, just like the Bills had to prove it when they were a laughing stock organization coming out of the drought. Like I said, I'll believe it when I see it. I'm not saying they will fail, but I just need to see it from them. Last year could have easily been a fluke. Teams go on good runs and then regress to the mean all the time. -

I'll believe it when I see it. The Jags are an average team until proven otherwise. They went 9-8 last year and that's great for them, but it is a huge leap to get to 13+ wins and get the 1 seed. -
This helmet concept has been floating around for a long time, similar to yours: https://images.app.goo.gl/c1DSZ2Vu1dHkWGNE9 Not a big fan, personally. I think the white helmets look better. I would not mind a 90's throwback of the red helmet, though.

Bills named team with most “expectations” on them in 2023

Only in your mind. -

Well, the Bills HAVE beaten the Chiefs multiple times in the regular season. And they've won plenty of playoff games. It is so plain that the Chargers are a huge step below the Bills. Anyone should be able to admit that. The Bills have had far more success. They are not similar. -

On one hand the McDermott critics claim that the success of the team is all on Allen's shoulders, that coaching isn't why the team has been so successful, and then on the other hand they claim that coaching is THE reason why we can't win in the playoffs. I don't think they can have it both ways. Either coaching is a big part of the game and and it isn't just about the QB, or it is on the players for why we can't get over the hump in the playoffs. Coaching is only important to them when they want to blame someone, but meaningless when they want to recognize success. -
How long does it take an NFL head coach to reach his 1st Super Bowl?
MJS replied to Einstein's topic in The Stadium Wall
That isn't true. There are 23 head coaches who have been in the playoffs as head coaches. Sean McDermott is 15th in win percentage among them at 0.444. If you want to just look at their current teams, there are 21 head coaches who have made the playoffs with their current teams. Sean McDermott is ranked 13th in playoff win percentage out of those 21. You omitted the 5 head coaches who have appeared in the playoffs but not won a playoff game, either on purpose to try to make McDermott look worse, or by accident. -

No, he could not win in the playoffs. McDermott can. It is completely different.
