Why Landon Jackson is the next MONSTER in the NFL
BuffaloBillyG replied to MJS's topic in The Stadium Wall
While I have been extremely unimpressed by Jackson on the field so far I will say this. It's a long season. He will likely see live snaps at some point due to injury. I do see him as a game day inactive to start out. But at some point this year he will likely see an opportunity. The hope is he can make progression during his rookie year. I'm hoping to see improvements by the playoffs. Then he has a whole off season in the Bills strength and conditioning program. Learning the ins and outs. Working with other NFL pass rushers. Hopefully by this time next year he's taken steps to be a sturdy enough rotational DE. He was a 3rd round pick. He was always going to need some time to develop. -
https://www.nfl.com/news/raiders-qb-aidan-o-connell-suffered-fractured-wrist-in-preseason-finale-expected-to-be-out-6-8-weeks Raiders back up QB Aiden O'Connell out 6-8 weeks with wrist fracture. Only other QB on the roster is a 6th round rookie. If I'm Beane I'm calling them now and offering White or Buechelle for a late round pick.

Like I said. I get why he said it like he did. But he could have actually said something along the line of "We have a good idea where Tre is at right now. We will announce the details at another time." Saying they are "still waiting on results" is what makes it weird

Good Night / Bad Night - Pre-season game 3
BuffaloBillyG replied to GunnerBill's topic in The Stadium Wall
Another good night for Ciarlo as well. I hope they bring him back to the PS. He has really good instincts. I would love to see him as a "big nickel". I think he's more of a tweener without a natural position than he is a LBer. Good STs player. A guy like him has some value on an actual roster. -
What a weird answer. I had to get an MRI not long ago and the results were done an reported to me in about an hour. And that was at a busy hospital. The team takes their own MRI, with their own doctors in house and can't get the results in a week? What is this, 1965? I get why he isn't giving info, but if they want me to believe a billion dollar franchise with in house medical staff can't get results almost on the spot....that's just insulting our intelligence.

Why did Buechele start and play the entire game?
BuffaloBillyG replied to DeepPass's topic in The Stadium Wall
They've done this in the past. Played a QB for the final game they knew wouldn't be on the roster. Most notable was AJ McCarron a few years back against the Bears. Double reason. #1, why risk a guy like Mitch or (likely) White that they plan on having rostered or on the PS. #2, they gave him a chance to put a game together and get stuff in film for other teams to look at and possibly make it easier to let him audition for a job on another roster. -
I would love to see Ciarlo in a "Big Nickel" role. I think he's good, really good instincts but it seems he's a classic "tweener" that doesn't have a natural position.

More concerned about the fact both PED guys played late today and neither could show out against 3rd/4th stringers.
-
He will see a lot on STs. Then probably another 10-15 on offense is my guess. Basically, the Jake Kumerow role. I think he could definitely earn more snaps throughout the year.

Davis needs the reps BAD. 7 carries for 12 yards is his rushing line through the first two preseason games. Frankly, he's another guy that may be playing himself off the roster. Gore on the other hand has way out performed Davis. Both in rushing and out of the backfield as a receiver. Has looked way sharper albeit against 3rd and 4th stringers.

Basically it's a cheap millionaire calling out a cheap (is Brown even a) billionaire. They can both kick rocks.

Paid hotel rooms are for Super Bowl winners.

I'm not sure if this has been brought up yet but a thought just occurred to me. Eff Vrabel. That is all.

There is not.

Here's one to keep an eye on....

The rookie is rumored to start. Can get him late for fantasy purposes, but he's really impressed. Eckler will have a role on 3 rd downs and they have Chris Rodriguez, who will be used on a lot of goal line/short yardage situations. Sounds like a true committee backfield and they really weren't interested in paying Robinson.

HIPAA doesn't apply to NFL players as they sign waivers along with their contract as per the CBA.

I get ya. The one thing I know for sure is this bipolar board we come to will vastly overreact to whatever happens week one. I'm expecting this board to be complete chaos after the Ravens game.
-
I mean, will we tho? Last year the Ravens curb stomped us in regular season and we beat the Chiefs in regular season. And then later on, we eliminate the Ravens, the Chiefs eliminated us. It's a week 1 game. Many teams (and the SB era pats were famous for this) don't really even know what type of team they are until week 4 or 5. All the Ravens game will do is show us who won in week one. No more, no less.

Eric Dickerson Claims Teams Were Told To Not Draft Shedeur Sanders
BuffaloBillyG replied to H2o's topic in The Stadium Wall
I'm not sure I buy Eric Dickerson as the guy to put faith in for breaking news. It makes zero sense also. What exactly are they making an example of? Arrogance? Being born the son of Sanders? And yeah, even if the NFL said that, if someone wanted him they would have drafted him way before the 5th. Sounds more like Dickerson trying to help his friends son save face. I do find it funny that he was drafted by the most blah team in the NFL after they drafted another QB. -
It appears that Davis isn't recovering as well as he should be. Wouldn't shock me if he remains unsigned for most if not all of this year. https://steelersnow.com/concerning-detials-emerge-on-steelers-wr-target-gabe-davis/ "Gabe Davis was brought in for a medical follow-up. And when he came in free agency, the Steelers did not like, and subsequently other teams have not liked, what they saw from MRIs or whatever it was that they looked at following that knee injury that ended his season last year,” Mike Prisuta said on 102.5 DVE.

Shows that even with a mediocre QB, a proper game plan can go a long way. I have full faith in Joe Brady being able to devise a game plan if Mitch had to start a few games to set him up for success. Much more faith in Brady than I would Matt Canada who was his OC when he looked so bad in Pittsburgh.

The Bears actually DID make the playoffs with Trubisky as the starter. Twice.
