  1. I believe he was and even at the time Beane went out of his way saying he didn't blame the Commanders leadership...it was JD's agent/advisors. Basically how I remember it, we made an offer and Washington did at the same time at a lower price. MCKissic has told his agents he wanted to stay in Washington, so they withheld the Commanders offer until he had agreed to Buffalo's deal verbally. Agent tried for the better payday rather than clients wishes. Once MCKissic found out about the Commanders offer he flipped to that as it was his preferred place all along. Wasn't the Commanders trying to swoop in.
  2. Cue the other typical fan response 'we can't afford it ..." Simple. You rework his deal. Add some void years. I don't even know if I'll be alive in 2030 so I really couldn't care less about "dead cap" 5-6 years from now. Look at Philadelphia. Learn from that.
  3. And? It's called void years. It's completely doable. With plenty left to spare.
  4. Lol..wasn't talking about in Cleveland. But I think realistically, Allen could be had for a mid round pick coming off the injury. Buy low. Re work his deal and it wouldn't be prohibitive at all IMO.
  5. Up to $15M a year. Actually lower than I thought but would be. Only $32M in guaranteed cash? This is a win.
  6. Missed 9 games last year with a pectoral injury. Good force inside when healthy. Last year of his contract and is a $22M cap hit for Washington. Looked really good in the playoffs for Washington last year.
  7. While I agree with that, Garrett, Oliver and Groot won't always be in the field. And Oliver still leaves the middle soft vs the run. Still need that big body inside.
  8. I'm sure the words used by McDermott directly to Coleman in private were a bit more colorful than the ones he flashed to the media. But I'm glad McDermott acknowledged they didn't get enough out of him and he needs to improve. Keon is going to have to earn his role next year.
  9. Shelling out the picks to get a Garrett does, however limit the likelihood of having the picks to find a DT that makes an impact in the draft. And I don't see the FA market deep there.
  10. Considerably more skill needed than a kneel down at the end of a half or game. No one looking to ban that. It's not that much higher of a conversation rate than a normal QB sneak or a RB dive on 3rd or 4th and short. Teams are slowly starting to figure it out now.
  11. I would have guessed Washington. Doesn't matter. They aren't likely to have the support to pass it.
  12. Maybe. Maybe not. Stay tuned!
  13. 6 games played in the last 2 years and coming of an ACL. Hard pass. We already have Milano for that role
  14. Couple more vet defensive players hit the open market. Both were cuts so no impact on Comp Pick formula. Thompson would intrigue me except he can't seem to stay healthy. Thornhill has played good ball before, but kind of flames out in Cleveland. Neither player should be expensive.
  15. I think this is very valid. With Josh being 29 to start next season it's time to start long term planning for the end game of his career. We have those 6 or 7 more years with him. By that time he's 35-36 and in the twilight of his career. So throw whatever it takes right now into what it takes to win the big one once or a few times. Then hit the reset button, have a bad year and land a high draft pick and take a swing at finding the next great QB in 2030 or 2031. The AFC has some good teams and we are near the top of that list year in and year out... without having much in the department of elite talent. This roster with a few more blue chip type guys (the Eagles method) would put the Bills on another level than teams like Baltimore and KC.
  16. I think this is the most logical answer. We all like new shiny toys, especially those with flashy names. But first of all...there's no guarantee ANY of these guys even get moved. The Browns have a hard line in the sand that they aren't trading Garrett. If you want him you'll have to blow their doors off with an offer. And even then they may hold tight. I've seen nothing about Crosby actually being on the block...and he's actively stated he wants to stay with the Raiders. Most of the names floated are pure speculation. Happens every off season and a high percentage of the time one or maybe two big name guys are moves for picks. If one of the vets can be had for a reasonable amount...great. If we have to look to the draft... great. Just find talented guys at a good value
  17. This makes it a felony to return a kick out of the end zone. Or to kick it into the end zone.
  18. I agree with your premise, however choosing Hill as the example is....weird. Reason being since trading Hill the Chiefs have made 3 straight Super Bowls, winning two while the Dolphins have two one and done post seasons and didn't even make it this year.
  19. Not so much his game rather than his behavior. Which seeing how he's acted off the field was very warranted. This is exactly the type of player that Beane would take off the draft board completely and never consider no matter the round he slipped to.
  20. Man, somehow Butler and his fellow WR Lewis have slipped through the memory bank of a lot of people. Such a good WR duo they made.
  21. The time me and another 592,912 (claimed) watched in person as the Bills came back on the Houston Oilers. Getting out of the lot after that game was a nightmare.
  22. I think Coleman HAD a role. His play after the injury and the fact they seemed publicly disappointed with his performance (mention it specifically at the year end PC) may have played himself out of one for next year. If he has a definitive role next year it is going to have to be earned in TC IMO. I would like DK. Unfortunately, as much as we would like it to happen, he's not really on the trade block. In fact when they asked HC MacDonald about the process for hiring an OC this year he said that a focal point of each interview was what their plan is for DK moving forward. He also said they will "work through" if Tyler Lockett will be back. Now, I get the "lying season, never say never, it could still happen" theory that comes this time of year, but to me it sounds more like Metcalf is staying and they will roll with him and JSN this year. Guy is a physical freak, though and I still can't believe the Bills didn't nab him in the draft.
  23. Then McDermott needs to make sure he and Brandon are on the same page and he gets a WR or two than can be more of a vertical threat. And not just signing tall guys that run a 4.6.
  24. It's the philosophy of the two teams that made the difference. At the beginning of the year at WR we all debated is Buffalo or KC had the worse WR group. By the end of the you KC had 3 former 1,000 yard WRs, to combine with perhaps the best TE in history, and a RB room of Pacheco/Hunt. We had injuries to the secondary? Next man up. Status quo. A rookie that misses TC and a bust in Elam? Oh well, we roll with what we have. KC? An injury to their best WR and top RB? Let's bring in Kareem Hunt. Let's bring back JuJu. Ok. He can't do it. Let's increase Worthy's role gradually so he's a difference maker come playoffs. Hm. We need more....let's move for DHop. Oh look, we treaded water enough with these moves so Hollywood Brown is back. Keep taking bites of the apple until we get something that works. Just like the draft last year. Chiefs: We need a WR. This is the guy we want that we feel makes us better. Let's be aggressive and go get him. Bills: We need a WR. We will just take what's left so we can pick up an extra day 3 pick. Passive vs aggressive styles
  25. I'd be interested to see more of a breakdown on WHEN teams played shell against us. It seemed early in the season when we had MVS is when we saw it more. After switching from him to Cooper teams seemed to cut back. I'd also be interested to see what the split was between YPC/YAC for Shakir pre and post Cooper trade. I'll have to research that a bit Point being, after the Bills got rid of their only real deep threat, yes teams could back out of the shell because no one fears Allen hitting on a deep ball even when he gets the look he needs. It's one thing I really hope he works on this off season for sure because as you point out they sure seem to like to try for the chunk play when they can.
