  1. That's the major difference in being a fan and being a member of any pro sports teams front office. Most fans think on a year to year basis. GMs operate most of the time on a longer term vision. Of course, we as fans aren't privy to what the long term plan is so we have to react in real time to what's happening and speculate the rest.
  2. After how he ended the season...we sure about that? The league will pretty much dictate where you trade someone. A few seasons back the Ravens trades Orlando Brown to the Chiefs. Why? Because they likely offered the best trade package. Same likely happened here. When making moves you make them based on what helps your club the most. Secondary reasoning would be what may or may not be a tougher "out" after 17 games and into the playoffs.
  3. I think more people than not understand that the Bills bring in guys for visits that are possible 1st round picks as well as later round picks. Look back over the years and it's pretty normal for them to bring in middle round guys as well for visits.
  4. RB room isn't set yet. We have Cook, and Johnson is more a RB3/ST guy IMO. Then we have Evans who should be competing with Johnson. Other than that we need a compliment to Cook in the Murray/Harris role IMO. Big with big play explosive ability. But I've seen him mocked late 2nd to early 3rd and hoping a RB isn't coming that early with perspective needs at WR, EDGE and Safety. Still if he slipped to round 4 he would be a really nice pairing with Cook IMO.
  5. Beane alluded yesterday that he had been in communication with Allen and informed him that there were calls about moving Diggs and it wasn't off the table. So, Allen knew this was a possibility. I don't believe that Allen would object because he understands the business side of things by now. I think Allen would like to have him on the field, but is also used to new faces and moving on. Change has been consistent in his career. Be it Beasley and Brown or even now with Diggs and even Gabe Davis...the ship sails on and he knows that My most likely take on his "feelings" on the matter is that he will miss the good that came with Diggs being here...but is also ready to move on and stop having to answer questions about their relationship and what's going on with Diggs
  6. I want a good WR out of the draft that can grow into that #1 role and be on a cost controlled rookie deal for the next 4-5 seasons. I do not want to give up high picks and then pay a guy top dollar on top of it.
  7. I mean, back is back. The only team picking 29-32 that I see wanting to move up might be Kansas City...and not sure I want to make their path to getting their guy easier unless they make it very worthwhile.
  8. What you are saying is true. A 2nd rounder is a 2nd rounder and in reality there is value. We got a solid return in any event. However, when trading for future picks there is the addition to the move that the pick in and of itself is largely unknown. There is a big difference between pick 33 and pick 65. And while we can estimate right now that Minnesota "sould" end up drafting top 10 or maybe even top 5...anything can happen. I'm sure that teams dealing with Houston in last year's draft felt whatever picks they were getting for this year would be pretty high. Didn't end up that way. Another good recent example is us trading for Rasul last year. At the time the trade was made it looked like the return pick from GB would be high up in the round. They got hot late, made the playoffs and that pick sank. That's where the devaluation comes in.
  9. My room would be something like: Samuel Shakir Rookie picked at or within a few spots of 28 One of: Tyler Boyd/DJ Chark/ late round rookie Hollins Shorter/Isabella/Hamler/UDFA battle for spot either on PS or #6 duties depending on how many they keep. Remember we also have Kincaid, Cook and Knox to absorb targets. That's factors in IMO. I do believe we will add another RB either mid to late rounds in the draft or a vet like CEH on an inexpensive 1 year deal. Plenty of weapons. Past that I also would keep in mind that currently I have 2 picks in the second round next year. If the above room isn't showing potential after the first month -month and a half of the season and the team is still solidly in the hunt I become a buyer near the trade deadline for a WR.
  10. For me I picked Kyle because he meant so much to this team for so long and retired right as the team was turning the corner. Wish he would have played a year or two longer to really enjoy some winning.
  11. Biggest sliver lining part of the trade: We can now stop buying Digg's God awful Bleu Cheese and hot sauce.
  12. I voted AD. I think he's got the best chance to become a true #1. I do also like Coleman more than most. He's just smooth
  13. No. Not at that cost. I can see a small 2-3 spot hop. But many of the moves being made have appeared to be geared to the 2025 off season. I think we see how the draft falls, hold onto those resources and select a WR this year in the first 2 days. I don't think the trade changes the urgency, despite the knee-jerk reaction it will create for fans
  14. I think this is a really good write up, Alpha. Well thought out and detailed. I don't agree with every point, however the gist of the entire post I do. I, too hate the cap hits for the moment, however it does clear a TON off the books for 2025. I think as fans we get too locked into short term and forget there are other seasons on the horizon as well. As of right now, this move provides Beane an extra 2nd round pick and about $27M in cap space in 2025. Those may both change but that is huge both for next season and this season if Beane wishes to sign guys with a void year tacked on. I also think this may have been the plan at the end of the year, or at least something they discussed with Diggs in his exit interview. It was brushed off br Diggs "being Stef" but right after the season he made a point to say he was ready for whatever" several times. He understood the business. I don't think this was anything that caught Diggs off guard
  15. 5th biggest, actually. Not even the biggest of this season, either. https://sports.betmgm.com/en/blog/nfl-history-biggest-dead-salary-cap-hits/
  16. What part of NO TRADE is confusing you here?
  17. Just curious...but why? What do you see from that trade that would change the first 23 picks of a no trade mock? IRL, sure the Bills may move up...but his is no trade and the Bills nor Texans have picked yet.
  18. This Diggs trade doesn't change a thing for me. I still would like to see them trade out of round 1. Pick up an extra day 2 pick this year and some MORE picks next year and get that WR in round 2. The class is deep enough.
  19. I think if we go back and look at that God awful Chiefs message board from back when they traded Hill many would have been saying their window was over... rebuild as well. They went on to win the next 2 Super Bowls. So, to your point, I agree that anything is possible and with Allen we always have the possibility of catching fire late and running the table. This will be a new look team come week 1. Many of the vets we have grown accustomed to seeing as team leaders and core players are gone. We have seen who steps up to take their place both on the field and in the locker room as leaders. Team captain vote this year should be telling. I think much of what we will see for the 2024 Bills will be the formation of the "new core" that with emerge going forward to the next window of opportunity. Playoffs would be a success this year IMO.
  20. Congratulations. You just figured out what playoff football is all about.
  21. Hopefully, this Diggs trade brings people to the board faster and picks get made quicker😂😂
  22. Nah. I believe it's more they finally realized that the old "run it back, we're close" just wasn't working. Let's see what they do from now to week 1, though.
  23. Short term...D However we now have an extra 2nd round pick and this trade clears about $27M off next year's Salary Cap. Let's see what they do with all the assets the trade brought first.
