  1. This is NOT the year to look to FA for a WR. With Higgins tagged and Godwin likely headed back to Tampa, it leaves the top of the WR free agent market rather thin. The draft isn't as deep or talented as it has been in recent years. And there are a LOT of WR needy teams. Supply is low and demand is high. What this translates to for me is a year where second tier WRs like Brown and Slayton are signed to larger than deserved contracts. When it comes to WR contracts next week once we see numbers of guys signed I think a lot of popular sentiment will be "dang, really wanted him but not at that price".
  2. I think the issue this year was a few things. First off for MANY expectations were he was going to break out. With him having a full season under his belt and with his injury causing a regression on the stats it looks like a double whammy. Not only did his numbers not meet fan expectations, the numbers dropped Second, even when healthy, it didn't seem like he was being used the way many here thought he would. We talked ourselves into him being Kelce 2.0, but he isn't used the same way. Not even close. Be it scheme design, him picking up the playbook or whatever...he's not been what we pictured when drafted. It's on Brady to get him some plays drawn up Third, in back to back years we have seen rookie TEs have huge seasons in LaPorta and Bowers. It stands to reason we would compare our 1st round TE to them. And he's paled in comparison. Fourth, where guys like LaPorta rarely come off the field, Kincaid splits snaps a lot. He has to take some steps forward this year. Stay healthy. The talent is there.
  3. I think he ends up back in Green Bay.
  4. So was taking Coleman an admission they screwed up the Kincaid pick? Ladd has a great rookie year. Why? He was the best WR in a WR room that lacked talent. He has 112 targets as a rookie. That will produce stats. Would he have gotten those same targets here? Mind you Allen only attempted 483 passes so that would have had to have been an almost 25% target share. And Ladd would have probably split snaps with Shakir. Had we drafted Ladd I think people would have been severely disappointed with his output on the fat lower targets he would have likely ended up with here.
  5. We hear there was contact made without context. Who contacted? Was it Beane or a normal lower level person? Was it directly about a certain player or was it just a routine "touch base" call all teams make. Why did they contact? Was it for the player specifically or was it to gauge the market on what a guy at that position and skill level was looking for to see what the average market will be? For example to that last one, say the Bills are wanting to sign a guy like Smith. They aren't going to just call Smith. They will wisely do some "comparison shopping" and see where his value falls. So much goes into getting a player signed. And yes, like you said...perhaps the Bills have been in on some of those we hear of and been out bid. Or the player wanted to play closer to home. Or had a better opportunity for snaps or any of a million other reasons that come up.
  6. I actually took a little and pondered this. I think where I'm at is I wouldn't mind his completion % staying the same or even dropping if it means they were pushing the ball down the field a bit more and doing less of those line of scrimmage outside screens that barely work and set is behind the chains. This would also open things up more in the running game both for the RBs and Allen, as well as open things in the seems and intermediate for Knox/Kincaid. This would also likely mean they found a WR that can win and get some separation on the outside or Coleman stepped up and is coming into his own.
  7. No longer a game changer type guy. Oft injured, seemed unmotivated last year in SF with a big cap number. However, at just a 5th with the option of either reworking his deal for a lower cap number or using this year and letting him walk (for what would likely be a 5th or better comp pick) it's a good low risk move.
  8. I think informal meetings are just that. Meeting a player and having a conversation. Feeling them out. Nothing really football related. No chalkboard time or film. Make sure contact info is correct, ask some light questions. Nothing detailed.
  9. Yup. Makes sense. But whenever we hear ahead of time the BIlls are in on a player most of the time we don't sign that player. Reports like this are usually overblown agent driven "tips" to help create a market.
  10. The combine is the NFLs version of speed dating. They talk to many of the players to gauge if they want a second date (Top 30 visit). There's no limit to how many players they can chat up at the combine so a lot of teams take advantage. Some players are even brought in to talk about their teammates and get a feel for how people that played with a prospect they may like view them.
  11. Hughes is a pretty plugged in guy with the Giants. According to him the discussion is to get a vet like Rodgers (but not the only one being discussed) an still try and move to 1 for Sanders or Ward. So pay a vet, make a splashy move up the board and pair them together for the NYC/NJ media to sit and spin with a QB controversy from the get go. This is gonna be entertaining. Especially if it's Rodgers and his weird comments, McAfee appearances and willingness to throw everyone under the bus. Daboll won't survive Rodgers IMO.
  12. You could be right. You could be way off. Who really knows. Trying to figure out what's in his mind is a fools errand IMO. I'm sure he has a goal of a Super Bowl win. And he's stated a goal of his is to play with his brother. The difference being one he could make happen easily. I'm certain the Cowboys who lack weapons would take him on with a prove it deal. The other is a dart throw. Even signing with KC doesn't mean a ring. So is all things were equal, does he roll the dice on achieving one goal...or does he achieve the one that is guaranteed with the hope he can get the ring in Dallas. Time will tell
  13. Nabors and Adams would make a sick WR duo.
  14. I said it when he was here, I'll say it one more time. Diggs is not some otherworldly driven player to win any more then most guys in the league. That narrative was carefully crafted and has been often repeated. It's flat out a false narrative. The ONLY thing that drives Diggs is Diggs. His image and the way he's branded. Stef cares about Stef.
  15. I think when he left and reworked his deal to be a FA after this year, his goal was Dallas to play with his brother. He and his brother have been pretty open about wanting to play on the same team. I don't have any idea where the idea of him having some long term plan to join the Chiefs is coming from. Other than fans suffering from KCDS...Kansas City Derangement Syndrome. Much like they did New England a half decade ago.
  16. I'm betting Houston in that teams, too. Dell may not play at all next year and if he does who knows how well it would be A 1 year "Prove it" makes sense for both sides.
  17. Raiders need way more than a QB. If I'm them I'm looking to trade wayyyy down in the draft with someone looking for top tier pass rush help. Maybe pick up an extra first next year and some change. I think if they can work that and get in on Milroe it may be a good move. For the record, I personally don't think Milroe is gonna be special. But if anyone can make something of him, I'd pick the guys that coached Russ Wilson from the third round to the Super Bowl and made him an MVP candidate and the guy picked in round 6 that won more rings than fingers on one hand.
  18. Weird because in the past I could have sworn several times the NFL basically forced a team to be in it.
  19. The great thing about the combine is all the stories/refutes that come out. It's officially Lying Season people. Don't buy any "rumor".
  20. He's just a competitive guy.
  21. Slick Rick from the mailroom needs to step it the hell up.
  22. What is ironic is that the generic [Misleading Title] is often more generic or misleading than the original title.
