Agree. It's time to build up for that next run and the way you do that is by adding young talent through the draft at smaller contracts. Why anyone would give up draft assets for a WR with this class staring them in the face is truly baffling. If WR is deemed that big a need..take 2 early. Josh showed last year he no longer needs that big name target hog on the outside as a security blanket. He played his best football last year by being able to spread the ball around IMO. Lean into that.

It's not that I think he will "slide". It's what the reality often is between the draft expert community and actual team boards is typically pretty different. We tend to hear "Player X is the #4 WR" and then other" experts parrot that enough until it becomes thought of as a common fact. WR this year will come down to the eye of the beholder. And even though Thomas is talented the odds that another team may see more upside in another player is there. Add in, the teams see the medicals. They talk in person to the draftees. They do background checks and look into things on a whole different level than just watching the film.

Maybe not as much of an overdraft, but I think at least 1 of the WRs people see as late 1st early 2nd may go ahead of Brian Thomas. On the flip side one of McCarthy, Penix or Nix will slide way further than most mock drafters want to believe.

One thing is as true in sports as it is in regular life. Time marches on. This isn't to say that Morse, Poyer, Hyde and the rest won't be missed. As a matter of fact we lost a LOT of guys that wore that "C" on their chest at one point or another here in Buffalo. This year will be about who steps up to the plate and takes leadership. Josh and Milano are both more "quiet leaders". But who is going to be the group guys turn to? I remember when we traded for Rasul Douglas, there were a good portion of guys on that team that pointed to his leadership. I expect him to step up an one guy. Taron Johnson spoke about being more vocal this year. But we will need some young guys to step into those roles as well. Knox? Maybe Bernard? Rapp?

Also Diggs thoughts: I am sitting at my fashion show in France wondering why my quarterback isn't working his tail off during this off-season. While I get a workout (reminder to post parts to social media as proof) in between the vast media appearances I do in the off season to make cryptic comments....what is Josh doing? Why is he forsaken me? I just cannot believe the lack of accountability that surrounds me. Surrounds the organization. Also, I must be quicker in the locker room after a playoff loss...the press almost found me last year. Thankful that Bass tied them up so I may make my yearly escape to darkness. Why has Joe Brady made me less important in the offense. Also, who put grease on the ball? Gabe was right. These things are tough to catch. Who knew?

I think Kitchens in this spot would be firmly in play with the hiring of his DB coach from Miami. Lots of Intel on him at OBD right now I'm sure.

I went Kam Kinchens. I feel like we need a young guy and Kam is tough, smart and has good anticipation. However, there are about 3 other guys on that list Id be happy with. Jenkins, Fiske or Lassiter. I would absolutely HATE a RB on day 2....but Allen is a specimen.

I mean, if it were a Jet fan I'm not saying I would condone it....but I'd understand.

In Madden, I would have traded for him all day. In real life? Nah. Don't need his lackadaisical play or Gabe Davis-esque drops. Samuel, a rookie and increased targets for Shakir and Kincaid. This is the way

I would consider it a small thing in the moment. A teammate snaps at another after an emotional upsetting loss? That would be, I would think fairly routine. Definitely an incident that would warrant a "raised eye" and see if the trend continues before pretending to be a TMZ "journalist" and making it public knowledge.

It's really in their best interest to NOT report every little thing they see or hear. Yes, maintaining a positive relationship with the team and staff is paramount to their job...but also they have to show some kind of decorum with keeping private moments private and maintaining the good faith and relationships with players as well. That's how they find out a good amount of what they do. Once that trust is violated they won't have any information anymore. Being a reporter is all about building relationships and trust. Not blindly blabbing. In the case you mentioned....what good would it have done to report it? Other than become something else to gossip about on a message board? Graham even stated he doesn't even know what Diggs said that set Josh off. So he didn't even have the full story.

And this is a rather pessimistic view, IMO. A year ago many of us learned a lesson by way of the MLB position. What will be, will be. You say a young CB is needed to take Rasul's place. I say Benford could be that guy. I say Elam with a new DC and position coach could be that guy. You say both S are questionable starters. I say many said the same years ago when Poyer and Hyde arrived in Buffalo and the opportunity and coaching led them to both becoming All-Pro level players. With forecasting football players it's easier and safer to take the pessimistic view as if it doesn't work out that way the "penalty" is a simple waving of the hand and a "Boy, I'm glad I was wrong, fells" comment. There's also an inherently higher possibility of a guy failing than succeeding. That's why I believe so many take that approach. While I don't guarantee Elam or AJE or anyone else will definitely step up and become the Bernard of this season....at the very least last season was a lesson in patience and waiting to see what things will look. We have some holes and some areas to improve, for sure. But honestly either positive or negative no one actually knows what the roster will look like or what players will be improved from last year. Time tells all.

I would say we have other needs, though they are more depth than anything. We could use another EDGE rusher. Some CB help. And the RB room does need at least 2 more bodies. One for RB2 and another to compete for the PS with Evans and take preseason reps. I would even say Punter is still upgradable as well. But roster wise I think we are sitting pretty much when Beane traditionally likes to be. No huge holes (aside from WR) and lets him take the best available bon his board.

And elite talent could very well be on the board at pick 15. Pick 20. Pick 25. Don't really know who will be elite at the NFL level. What I'm saying is these sudden sweeping huge blockbuster moves up being seen in media right now are a byproduct of trading a WR that gave us limited production down the stretch and aren't based on practical thinking. I don't think trading Diggs alters the plan too much in the front office. But it might, who knows. We will see in about 3 weeks

I appreciate the rational behind a move like this, but I really think it's more of a knee jerk "there's gotta be a huge play here" reaction to the Diggs trade. In a class this deep I really think the Bills see how the draft plays out before rushing up the board.

While the Giants would be more than happy to select another player, when we attempted Roger Goodell wouldn't allow it and threatened to detain us in his COVID era man cave if we attempted again. @HappyDays and the dirty tush pushing Philadelphia Eagles are on the clock. With the 47th pick, the New Jersey Football Giants RUN to the podium and select BO NIX, QB, OREGON After passing on Jayden Daniels at 6 and instead getting a true Alpha WR in Rome Odunze, we take the guy that we believe can lead Big Blue back to glory. Athletic, accurate and confident, Nix is a 5 year starter who has shown he can improve his game. The 2023 Campbell Award winner is exactly what we believe a QB should be. Intelligence, Productive and an excellent example in the community. We are elated to bring him onto our team that boasts a coaching duo that separately have had a hand in the development of Josh Allen and Patrick Mahomes and were able to, combined get the playoffs with Danny Dimes and lead undrafted QB Tommy DeVito to three straight wins in a lost season last year. We have full faith we will be able to help a talented player like Nix reach his max potential. @manncand the London/Duval Jags are on the clock.

It was a fun schtick when it first started and there were one maybe two guys that did it. Now every show has to have "that guy". And much like it is outside the sports world, it's often those that yell the loudest that know the least. Though I haven't watched in years I used to enjoy Pardon the Interruption with Wilbon and Kornheiser. Often had opposing views but actually talked and made valid and informed points on both sides.

Very nice breakdown of Shakir here. I think tempering expectations are a smart idea. We saw what getting too riled up about potential can lead to with Gabe Davis. On the other hand, while your projection is fair and realistic..I would be more than happy with that statline and production from a former 5th round investment. Add in that I could also see him getting a look at the KR job this year. With the new rules I think he has exactly the right skillset to be good in that spot.

Question: What do you call it if Florio, Simms, Nick Wright, Cowherd and Steven A. Smith were in a car that drove off a cliff? Answer: A good start.

I like Milton. For me he would be on my radar if there in the 6th. He's got some elite physical traits. Of course, I don't think he can hit the broad side of a barn 15 yards away, and if he does find it he's likely to throw the ball through the wall and out the other side. One of the things I'm looking forward to this preseason is seeing Shane Buechele in action as well. I'd like to see what we have there, as well as a rookie to compete for the PS QB slot.

I like the picks, but LOVE the cap room we will recover in 2025 from this pick. With a couple other small moves we really should have quite a bit available next year.
