Was Al-Shaair just shaking/convulsing on the turf? Kinda looked bad for a brief glimpse...ooorrrrrrr I completely misinterpreted.

Game week thread - Dolphins at Bills TNF
Richard Noggin replied to BillsFan619's topic in The Stadium Wall
If he can practice "fully" then there is no cause to list him. He's been banged up a ton in his career but not always disclosed via injury reports. Don't want to officially label bountygate targets on his body (as though teams don't know) -
Milano has a Pec Injury Timeline "we'll see" per Sean
Richard Noggin replied to Warriorspikes51's topic in The Stadium Wall
That IS a spicy meatball, ming Nah, Williams plays with violence. Edmunds did not/does not have the same passion for contact. -
This is an interesting take, and one that crossed my mind as soon as I saw Hawes motion into the backfield and play more as an H-back a couple snaps (if memory serves). However, the argument against this is Gilliam's STs value and his relatively low cap number. Knox, on the other hand, doesn't really play STs (right or no?) and has an absurd/inflated cap number next season. So I tend to agree (or maybe just HOPE) that Knox is the player we want to replace (or somehow get down to a MUCH lower cap number without adding much term).

Any thoughts on Dorian Williams about to be starting again?
Richard Noggin replied to Simon's topic in The Stadium Wall
To be fair, Kancey is NOT an "edge rusher." He's a "DE" but it's on an odd-man front. He lines up anywhere from the 3 to the 5 technique most often. -
Doubling up on the cliches, impressive. "walking injury" + "injury waiting to happen" = "walking injury waiting to happen" Solid alliteration, nice rhythm, a little more menacing or inevitable than either phrase alone. And, of course, we've all seen his battle with availability.

THE ROCKPILE REVIEW – I Never Leave Early
Richard Noggin replied to Shaw66's topic in The Stadium Wall
There was no question among our immediate section that we needed a turnover to truly have a chance. Behold: Ed Oliver forcing the fumble from Derrick Henry. Just mugging him in the backfield, really. Stealing his lunch money. Felt live like they might have failed to recover the fumble, tbh, but that was the moment that we KNEW this was mathematically in motion. -
Parsons traded to Green Bay, given $188 million contract
Richard Noggin replied to Roundybout's topic in The Stadium Wall
Rousseau as part of a Parsons trade package makes plenty of sense, except for all the deal money he'd incur. But on the field, sure. I've grown disillusioned with Groot. Hopefully he proves me wrong starting this week. The problem with that trade package is that the "+2 picks" would be at least the next 2 1sts, which hurts (major loss of cap-controlled talent). Unless you want to be super cynical about Beane's 1st round drafting, in which case, then I guess an argument can be made. -
Because production is different than opportunity. Derrick Henry did VERY well to sprint through those gaping holes and cutback lanes and 2nd and 3rd level defenders taking abysmal angles and just being physically outmatched (by what a beast Henry is, no doubt). But I'm guessing Hall did more with LESS, according to the evaluators. Simple, really. For the most part, Henry was kept clean through the line the way we wish Bernard, on the other side, could be. I googled Henry's yards BEFORE contact in week 1 to see about that, and here's AI's summary (which is mathematically incoherent...because that many avg yards before contact on 18 carries equals over 250 yards rushing before contact in total...so I'm just lost):

TNF Commanders - Packers (No Bills Discussion)
Richard Noggin replied to Low Positive's topic in The Stadium Wall
Of course the limitations of his QB1 were also "found out." Maybe not unlike Kliff's experience in ARZ... -
Well, another worthless stat..total QBR
Richard Noggin replied to Rich Stadium Original's topic in The Stadium Wall
Are we allowed to admit that Allen forced at least a handful of passes into incredibly dangerous windows that BOTH: a) showed off his elite pocket movement AND arm arrogance/talent, and b) enough puck luck and WR compete to embrace success and narrowly avoid disaster? To be fair, Ed freaking Oliver had at least something to do with Jackson's discomfort after 3rd down... -
TNF Commanders - Packers (No Bills Discussion)
Richard Noggin replied to Low Positive's topic in The Stadium Wall
I've never seen an OC (Kingsbury) year-after-year be SO ahead of the curve (DCs) before then eventually being so BEHIND the curve (DCs). He designs and implements effective concepts that maximize his unique QBs' strengths, but then the league always seems to figure him out down the stretch, each year. -
TNF Commanders - Packers (No Bills Discussion)
Richard Noggin replied to Low Positive's topic in The Stadium Wall
Looks more planted in the pocket, and less dynamic. Like he's being asked to move to the "middle" rather than excel on the frontiers of offensive play design. -
A few Random Thoughts After the Ravens Game
Richard Noggin replied to PoundingDog's topic in The Stadium Wall
The bolded is SO important to remember. It's generally true of ALL LBs tbh, that they need the guys up front to keep them somewhat clean to truly shine. Even Ray Lewis got chewed up the year that Siragusa and Sam Adams departed. I know he got hurt, but there was public discord over the Ravens DL no longer occupying blockers the way it once had. Took the team a couple years to recalibrate and replace those big uglies. The Bills clearly do not have a true monster 1T who can command OL attention and therefore free up the 2nd level behind him. DaQuan Jones has had flashes in his Bills tenure, but more often than not now seems to be getting absolutely WASHED by double-teams and/or handled by single-teams. It's been an ongoing failing of McBeane to not have a stud next to Oliver all these years. We criticize Ed for being inconsistent and disappearing, but he's like THE guy OLs need to neutralize. Where are his teammates on the DL? -
Buffalo Bills season ticket member watch party
Richard Noggin replied to ToBillsFan's topic in The Stadium Wall
Wasn't even aware of this event tbh. Like @BillsPride12 above, I have come to deeply cherish the away games and my freedom to lounge about at home, or more likely, to drive around the corner to watch in my buddy's garage and catch up with a few friends. If I KNEW for sure a few specific people from our row/section would be there, I'd possibly consider it. Given it's the final year we'll be surrounded by the neighbors we've come to appreciate. SUCH impeccable vibes around us each game. The people I appreciate all stayed last week and it was bonkers. The guys to one side are younger, and had a bunch of friends from the 300s come down once the comeback began and there were empty seats. Ended up with a bunch of people hopping up and down and hugging and shoving each other and high fiving and screaming like children on a playground. Part of the specialness, though, is the limited interactions. I've stood next to the same guy for four years now and we don't really know each other's names, yet we've embraced like giddy lads on multiple occasions. It's been a nice run. -

Good thing the 2nd level guys stunk it up last week! Nice and healthy still -
Interesting in-game convo between Shakir and Palmer
Richard Noggin replied to Einstein's topic in The Stadium Wall
And how many attempts did Allen have in order to produce that level of production for Palmer? (was 5 catches btw, not 6) Week 1 extrapolates out to a career best, 1,000+ yard season (and career best 85 receptions) for Palmer, but there is NO reality in which Bills coaches intend to see Allen attempt 46 passes again this regular season. It could happen, but should be more of an outlier if the Bills are able to dictate a balanced attack the ways they hope to most weeks. Last regular season, for example, Allen had a peak of 40 attempts ONE time, against KC in a win. The year prior, though, he got to at least 40 attempts 5 times, and only 1 of those was a win. The year prior to that, he had 40+ attempts 5 times, with 3 of those being wins. And prior to that in 2021, Allen had 40+ attempts 8 times, winning only 4 of those games. So, since 2021, prior to 2025, JA17/Buffalo has thrown at least 40 pass attempts 19 times out of 67 games, and is 9-10 in those games. Overall, the Bills are 46-21 over that span, which means they are 37-11 when attempting fewer than 40 passes. Don't think such metrics are lost on Sean McDermott. We can add a 1-0 2025 record in games where Allen attempts 40+ passes, but that brings the franchise only to a .500 record over the past 4+ seasons when they are extremely pass-heavy. (Incorporating Allen's first 3 seasons adds a 5-4 record in such games, so the pattern is fairly consistent throughout.) No surprise that in the playoffs, the Bills/Allen have NEVER won when attempting 40+ passes (0-3), and are 7-3 otherwise. **this all potentially crushes my desire to see the Bills come out each week with extreme aggression, offensively (instead of intentional balance and control) -
Week one is a liar? But they'll have both Rice and Worthy back by week 7 (Worthy sounds like he might not miss much time at all), so why would they take back a known cancer who would cost them compensation, just to cause a logjam of egos and targets? They still have Hollywood Brown and Juju and probably someone else with pedigree who has underperformed. Wait a minute!? Are you suggesting Larry Ogunjobi, who is currently suspended until week 7, was not hustling out there in week 1? You're dang right. He wasn't even in uniform!!! WTF

Pizzeria Florian in East Aurora is the best pizza in WNY, without question. Ranked in top 50 worldwide, if I'm not mistaken. It's run by the Jay who founded Jay's Artisan Pizza, which he eventually sold to an understudy. There is much else in East Aurora, including Bar-Bill (elite wings) and a nationally impressive Borderlands music festival lineup this weekend, so consider a slight venture east of town for all that.

White Jersey's, Blue Pants for the Jets
Richard Noggin replied to Draconator's topic in The Stadium Wall
Do the white over blue unis most likely ensure tops and bottoms color contrast against the Jets (assuming Jets go with green tops and either white or green bottoms)? Do players have any input/influence? Or is it just the Bills marketing all the combos throughout the season? Fans on the other hand almost universally prefer white over white for Bills away games, innit? I specifically prefer blue over white or white over blue BUT WITH RED HELMETS. Combination of 70s-90s kit combos. Gimme red home endzones while we're at it, thank you very much. -
Interesting in-game convo between Shakir and Palmer
Richard Noggin replied to Einstein's topic in The Stadium Wall
But I don't think you intentionally redline it "for the duration of the game" if the game script goes as intended: attacking and scoring to establish enough of a lead to make your opponent's offense more predictably pass-heavy/one-dimensional. I don't love any of this prescriptive or compensatory game-planning, but we have to admit our defense needs help against the better offenses. The real question becomes: can the current Bills DL/pass rush actually capitalize on such an advantage? We don't necessarily have a Dwight Freeney/Mathis (Colts used this model--ahem, Polian) or a Bruce Smith/Seales/Bennett (Bills also under Polian) pass rushing tandem who can consistently/quickly pressure the QB in obvious passing situations. -
It's "shtick" btw...unless yer talking 'bout the man's actual "JImmy"?

Interesting in-game convo between Shakir and Palmer
Richard Noggin replied to Einstein's topic in The Stadium Wall
What if they tried starting the game (against elite teams especially) with that same urgency and aggression? That's my biggest complaint. Our defense isn't good enough most of the time against the best offenses, but could be with more help (scoring) to make those offenses more one-dimensional.- 54 replies

Are we quite good at doing both against the league's best teams? We've not been good enough in the playoffs, without question. And that's now the whole point with an ascended MVP unicorn leading the charge. We won't have Allen forever. Gotta get it done ASAP.
