  1. It's 3 mil with incentives that could push it to 10.....the best part of this, for cap purposes, is that incentives are catagorized as likely or not likely...and that is based only on the prior season... The reason that matters is because NOT LIKELY incentives don't count against the cap this year. ... This was/is a great deal for KC.
  2. The Mahomes contract is rapidly becoming the bargain of all bargains. Detroit should draft Malik Willis at no2 this is the opening they’ve been waiting for to bust out of being the worst team in the NFL. The door is wide open. last - I hope Josh Allen and the Bills can get a Lombardi soon…..this looks brutal for all of us AFC fans going forward. Bills stil with that great chance to be 1seed. It’s going to matter…alot
  3. ..... Is this dude for real? KC had a staggering payload of cap space tied up at WR/TE and won the SB. KC will be at least calling on DK. I would expect the Bills to as well.
  4. Elway isn't the GM....hasn't been for 2 years now.
  5. When you have a franchise QB...you don't NEED this at all....getting sideways with your franchise SB winning QB is not what you want ever. Seattle had him under control for 2 more years...if Russ wanted Carrol gone, then he should have been gone..if Russ wanted a passing O instead of that atrocity that Brian Schottenhiemer ran..you make it happen. What would you all do if Allen wanted X, Y and Z....andthe FO and coaches wanted A B and C...? You best be finding out how to make Z Y AND Z happen. Seattle completely failed here. I really really hope this is sarcasm....Lock is not a stud. on the day he was drafted, he had played more high level snaps at QB, than anyone in history, having started out as a kid, onto starting at big class HS, then SEC 4 year starter....his scouting report was the easiest thing to ever write because there was a bazillion miles of tape to watch..... he's been EXACTLY what his scouting report said he'd be in the NFL.....wich is not a stud. This is false. the Broncos have a bad O line....if you visit some broncos boards this is their main concern...they know they must find ways to make the line better...they have been harping on that even before this trade. It's not a good line at all. LOL...mortaged their future? WHAT FUTURE? They didn't have a QB....what future did they mortgage? The one where they drafted Stingly at 9 and have a great secondary and miss the playoffs again becaus they don't have a QB? Please....tell me/us what did they forgo here? LOL....they have a future now because they have a QB.... I'm not a member there...but I am sure those folks can't be objective about this.....because it's the Broncos....but this was a STEAL for Denver. couple other things.. elway is not Denver's GM. George Paton is...this was his deal. All the way. Denver now clearly is in the mix of legit contenders...because QB...but that roster still needs some work..especially at O line....they are thin at CB and DL too. They didn't ahve a single pro bowler last year....some would say there were a QB away....that is true to the extent that if you have a QB, you always have a chance..but that roster isn't as good as many would have thought. ....they have a few nice pieces... And YES...this definitely is a help to the Bills! the vegas odds went down for KC because it make the 1 seed harder. the 1 seed means your path to the SB is one fewer game. The math alone on that is a huge win as getting the 1 will be alot easier for the Bills than any AFC West team for sure. Consider, lets say you are the 1 seed...you aren't playing ALL THREE of Mahomes, Wislon and Herbert...the worst you'd encounter is two of the three. It's a big win for the bills
  6. hill is probalby a little underrated.... Anyhow....I am usually all for letting a WR who is about to sign contract 3 for big money, jus go ahead and walk..but say what you want about Hill....that dude shows up to camp in ROCK solid shape..he's been relatively healthy for his career (his missed time has been due to the kind of injuries that don't affect speed...shoulder etc) ...he's got the appearance of one of the rare dudes that maintains a high level of effectiveness longer than most others.....I want Kc to go ahead and sign him to another high money dea because I think he's worth the money and will be effective for the length of the contract.
  7. Yes. The Saints were legit contenders every year Drew Brees was on that team regardless of their cap situation. They only got 1...maybe that's all KC will ever get too, but KC, with Mahomes, and decent drafting, will always be competing, always structuring deals to sign and/or keep star players and going for it every year until Mahomes is done.
  8. It should be noted that the Raiders hired McDaniel because he laid out in detail, exactly how he would use CARR and make him better. That was widely reported as fact at the time. That doesn't mean they wouldn't make a deal if the right offer came along, but I don't think they have any intention to trade him I would add that Carr is someone you could win a SB with if you put a good enough roster around him....but he isn't a guy that carries a squad to the title himself. I would also add that as noted by several others who replied to this...it's damn hard to find a top 15 NFL QB. It's also very important that you have one.... Go look at the QB rating or QBR...pick whichever....pretty much you know who made the playoffs? The guys in the top 15. If you choice is Carr, or a draft pick....and you aren't even picking up near the top of the draft....you are sticking with Carr.
  9. <Following is NOT intended as a slight to the BILLS> I've mentioned this before....the CAP is not a problem if you want to play the game of kicking the can....which is what KC is doing....very similar to what the Saints did up until Brees retired. Just keep converting money to signing bonus, kick it to next year...and then the next year....it will eventually get to a point where you finally have to eat it and account for it.... Where KC and Buffalo might differ is CASH spending. When you are converting money to signing bonuses...it means your owner is writing a big fat check RIGHT NOW...to pay out. If you don't have alot of operating cash....or you do and just don't want to do business that way...then it matters and might determine in part..how a team handles cap. The Radiers are team that are said to be "cash poor" for example. I would conclude as I have before....the CAP, while not something you can ignore....it is something that you can work around with a combo of good drafting (saints were good drafters) ...and kicking money down the line. KC has drafted well and are set to kick more money down the line. KC will pay that piper later.
  10. I have a solution to this. The draft order would still be the same for teams that made the playoffs...so pick 32 is SB cham, pick 31 is SB runner up...and so on. The NON playoff teams would pick in REVERSE. So the team that had the best record but missed the playoffs, would pick first. Then the second best team to miss the playoffs would would pick 2nd. and so on. This would reward teams for trying to win. It would give teams incentive to play the best they could through the entire schedule It would be a complete disincentive to tank...losing just gets you a worse draft pick, not better one.
  11. This probably won't a be a very comfortable take....but if you are the Saints, and in this racially charged climate..AND you are in cap hell and need to dog paddle through a season or 2 while you get your house in order.... you could hire Eric Bienemy and 1. be percieved as a franchise that is giving a fair shake to minority candidates 2. If he overachieves with bad cap you win..you've got yourself a coach. 3. if he struggles as expected with bad cap situation, you hired him to fire him when you are ready to start over again anyhow. EB gets his HC job, and financial security. Is it right? No.... but it's what I'm thinking they could be thinking. It wouldn't surprise me if the leauge powers that be are calling the Saints and going over this scenario.
  12. If KC didn't land him....I'd be upset they didn't gamble on him in the 4th/5th myself....I'm kind of upset they waited anyhow...if you thought he was that guy...you spend a 4th or 5th and make sure you get him. KC lucky he wasn't taken before they picked in round 6. Only thing I can say about it for ALL teams...is that covid prevented eveyrone from doing up close medical on these guys pre draft. In any other year, he would have gone in the top 45 picks most likely.
  13. ...was he a third round pick? Im not saying he isn't a good pick....getting anyone that starts in round 3 is always good..but steal of the draft?
  14. I wish I knew...it's like he could do no wrong until they missed on points to end the half.....it's like they suddenly believed that the game would play out like the first meeting did.....and then they went out and helped ensure that it did. So wierd.
  15. ....I just said it was a choke...trainwreck...fail.....I'm not trying to argue or make any excuses. ...and once again....Yep.....I joined this board to troll. I trolled for a while...which again, was what I joined to do....and didn't try and say I was something I wasn't. I made troll posts. You have done a great job of recognizing the obvious here, and your ability to continue to fully acknowledge that I came here to troll, and then trolled...is on point. I am not asking for empathy. Regarding bad dudes being on my team....I have stated multiple times that while I wish all my teams dudes were fine upstanding pilars of the community, I accept they are not. If you want to make a case your players are better people, etc...then I'll just take the L. If the legal system says they can have a job playing football, and they play for the team I root for then fine....their job is football player not kindergarten teacher...I want them all to be good people and do better....not all of them do. I'm fine with it.
  16. .....I don't know how many more times I can post this.....YES...I have admitted....and never tried to hide the fact I joined your board to TROLL! Over time, my mind was changed, and I really like this place, I like the team, and I LONG LONG LONG ago admitted I was wrong about Josh Allen and am a big fan. he's awesome and fun to watch.....I think a championship is in his, and the Bills near future. I bought my 9 year old a couple Bills jerseys. The outcome of todays game sucked....it was a big fail...it was a big let down...it was a trainwreck. All things considered, I'd rather the Bills had just won last week...I'm sure the bills would be on their way to the SB right now. I'm still looking forward to Mahomes, Allen....entertaining football games in the coming years...and if my team can't win it all, I want the Bills to do it.
  17. One of the problems with this way of roster building, is you rely A TON, on honey badger. I am sure you noticed, like I did, how the KC secondary was lost out there. They aren't that good (they were a better group last year when Breeland was one of the starters...also cheap) Too much emphasis on the safety making the call
  18. I can't really confirm this, but it is discussed in some circles that KC/Spags believes in a certain CB profile, that they think they can find cheaply enough. I don't know if it's true or not, but they don't pay CBs. They go and get scrap heap dudes or late round drafted guys that fit their formula. I don't know if that's true or not, but KC's corners I think, also is the cheapest group of CBs in the leauge. Ward, Fenton, Sneed, Baker, Hughes. Very low dollars spent there. Spags plays alot of man and they rely on the scheme and safeties to be right. Ward is a UFA....I'd love for them to keep him, but they simply aren't going to spend money at that spot....further evidence of this is that they just signed Arnette...the former Raiders first round pick CB to a futures deal. They collect these guys. Baker, Hughes and Arnette..all former round 1 CB's from the heap.
  19. @Hapless Bills Fan @CincyBillsFan I saw the bat signal. Hapless is spot on here. KC tries to put the best O AND D it can field, and has spent huge resources on D...and I'm pretty sure, for the last several seasons, have spent more on their defense than the have on offense. Hapless did a good job of covering this subject in depth, so I'm not going to write a book here....but I would like to point out that KC CLEARLY is in the camp of having a Stars and Jags roster composition. By that I mean...they are not averse at all to dole out HUGE contracts to players they consider key contributors. Chris Jones, Honey Badger, Sammy Watkins, Hill, Kelce (who signed at a bit of a discount) Hitchens, Frank Clark. Not every deal they make has worked out to its optimal best. Sammy was Sammy, hurt alot...didn't put up huge numbers....pretty good when he did play. Clark has been unable to live up to his contract, but he's been at his best in postseason games. Hitchens....is HORRIFICALY bad. This offseason, that general idea, isn't going to change...they'll move on from Clark and Hitchens...and quite possibly badger. They will dole out big money to Orlando Brown in the form of a tag or contract. They'll see if they can find a contract that works for badger and the team...but I am inclined to think they move on. They will certainly try and sign Ingram up again. The team, rightly or wrongly....also relies on Mahomes to make the difference for holes in the roster....again, as opinted out by hapless...their lack of investment in the line, came back to bite them when they were down to 2nds and 3rd stringers in the Super Bowl....before the injuries..KC had basically a 1/1 drafted player at LT...then 3 interior linemen who were ALL scrap heap guys, then journeymen at RT once Schwartz had to hang it up after a couple games to start the year. That interior line SUCKED when it was healthy and sucked ever worse when they had to replace barely adequate scrap heap dudes with bad scrap heap dudes. They were FINE with those cheap bargain bin dudes inside becaused Mahomes could still operate and so they spent that money elsewhere. Veach's first draft was AWFUL...his second one was better, and this last draft...he hit it out of the park. KC is will pay big for key contributoers and rely on a combo of above average drafting, and Mahomes ability to hide some deficiencies. I'm not trying to make an argument that this is the best way to do things, etc...just telling you that A) KC invests in D every bit as much as O and B) KC will pay about 10 dudes HUGE money and fill it in with cheap draft picks, scrap heap dudes, and also an intentional and puproseful idea, that Mahomes makes up for some shortcomings in talent in spots. KC is TRYING every year to field a no.1 D...that is their goal and they make moves to try to get that to happen. IT's not an afterthought.
  20. JuJu will be one to watch....KC has alot to sort through, but they made an offer to JuJu this past offseason, so there is....or had been interest there. I will say this about KC recievers - Outside of Hill....NONE of them get separation or run routes well. I used to think that wasn't such a big deal, but I paid closer attention to it this year, and it's pretty bad. Mahomes negates some of that...our stable of targets is top heavy. I expect KC will draft at least 1 and they will probably give some of the FA a look and see if they can make it work
  21. There a whole lot of Broncos fans that wish they had what the Bills do now.
  22. The big choice(s) KC is going to have to make are who among Brown, Charvarious Ward and Honey Badger, will they keep and who can they afford out of that group? My guess is that Brown will sign or get tagged. They'd prefer to get a deal done so they can structure it as opposed to the tag wich is a lump sum hit on the cap. Ward (who is better than alot of fans in KC and outside KC will ever admit) is going to get PAID. KC won't be able to afford him. He's been a GREAT bargain for what he's been. We'll all know what the league really thinks of him when you see the bonkers contract he ends up with. Badger....there is mutual interest, but the $$$ might not work. If they can't work out something the team can live with for the cap...KC has his replacement on the Roster in my opinion...they'd just move Sneed to Safety...wich is what he played in college...he can blitz, he can play slot and he can play S. He's on a rookie deal and they will be fine there. Hitchens will be gone and can't go soon enough.....he makes the team worse when he's on the field....and his contract has SUCKED! Clark will be gone as well because he cost too much...he's a good player, but not a super star...and he's been paid, and would be owed superstar money if he's still on the roster....KC will need to find a cheaper, but adequate replacement. I like not signing players who are about to get old, but one guy that I am willing to bust the bank back open for one more time is Tyreek Hill. That guy is a physical freak of nature who is just built different...I believe he'll remain productive into his mid 30's. All things that KC has to think about....it does get a little harder as Mahomes number starts to increase now.
  23. I’m not sure there is a complicated answer or solution required. The team that you have is good enough to have won that game. of course you’ll look to improve in the draft, in FA, and evaluate everything like all teams do. Yiu could not possibly ask your elite QB to do more than he did. That was an incredible effort. If the Bills win that game, this goes down as the masterpiece in Allen’s legacy. It still should anyway. Allen is too good not to break through and win a Lombardi. I’m more sure of that today than I’ve ever been. This off season will be slow and bitter, but good things are coming.
  24. ....Ironically, KC proposed this rule change a couple years ago....no takers.
  25. This thread is as good a spot as any..... That was an epic game.... Allen was every bit as awesome as he could be and was up to the challenge. He's too good not get a Lombardi at some point. Just a couple things.... In 2018, (before KC won the SB in 2019) Mahomes, did the EXACT same thing in the AFC title game against the Patriots. New England had scored with 39 seconds left. to go up by 3. Mahomes then moved the Chiefs 48 yards in two plays and kicked the tying field goal. The difference was NE won the toss and KC never saw the ball in OT. That loss hurt alot....and no one talked about how Mahomes and KC scored 24 points in the 4th quarter of that game. Since it was Brady winning in OT and going on to win yet another SB....that performance kind of got lost. I hope Josh Allens performance in this game, is remember as an all time great game by a QB in a high leverage situation...he was incredible. ....I expect...and I am looking forward to these two teams AGAIN, in the playoffs next year.
