  1. I disagree with this....the TV money is where most of the revenue comes from......I stand by my point...the ratings are already just as stong in NON NFL markets as they are in NFL markets...you can not get more eyes on TV's by expansion....all that does is bring on more owners that have to split the same TV money pie. Any revenues generated by the extras like merch etc...is dwarfed by the TV deals. Unless you are talking about making that TV pie a big enough pie that the current owners slices are bigger than what they already get..they aren't gonig to be interested.
  2. On point 1.......the only way they could squeeze more TV money out of the current situation is if they started to have Saturday, and Tuesday games..to go with Sunday, Monday and Thursday games...that would be new time slots not currently occupied by NFL games and therefore new spots where networks could sell commercial time....the NFLPA would object.... On point 2..... I think you might have something there but we'd all need to see a breakdown of how much gambling revenue each team generates...VS how much more you'd get if you added a couple teams...that would be interesting, and if the pie was made larger...that could be an impetus to expand. I wouldn't mind expansion to a few more teams....I only argue against it from an owner view point..as a fan, I'd love London, Toronto, and two more domestic teams added. Going off the idea the domestic TV dollars dont get better...it doens't have to be the biggest TV markets..but probably would be. As others have mentioned....San Antonio...has long been trying to get a team and deserve it...it's a good NFL market. I'd put the other team in Portland or Salt Lake City.....with Portland being the preferred destination...but those poeple probalby have no appetite for publicly financing a stadium.
  3. One of my favorite topics..... The NFL will NOT expand anytime soon. The reason why is TV dollars. TV Ratings for NFL football games is pretty much the same in NFL markets as it is in NON NFL Markets. The NFL has reached a point where adding teams does NOT ADD TV Viewers....so if you are one of 32 NFL owners...you have zero incentive to split the same TV contract money with more owners...it's a 32 piece pie right now...the pie doesn't get bigger with more teams....no reason to split the same pie with 34 or 36 or 40 owners. The same 32 owners are interested in expanding TV viewership in markets outside the US. There are a few ways they could do that without expansion. As mentioned..move an existing team...or two, to new markets outside the US....Jacksonville being the obvious one, to move to London. There are quite a few legal hurdles to making that happen...not as simple as just moving the team...but if they could work that out...you get a ton more new TV eyes and money....and split with the same 32 clubs. You might move a team to Mexico city or to Toronto and pick up some more TV dollars that way...but they'd probably be good with simply Jax to London....and NO domestic expansion. Moving a team from one town to another is less likely now that teams can't point to LA is this vast open market...teams will be compelled to stay where they are....in general..saw some posts about Washington to Virgina...KC from Missouri to Kansas...those aren't "moves" they would still be in the exact same markets they are already in. ....the other thing mentioned that will never happen...agian for money reason....is having the USFL or XFL be some league where you relagate the two bottom teams to the XFL/USFL...and bring up the top teams....HA! NFL franchises are worth 4 billion dollars...those guys aren't going to be "relagated" that system in the EPL came from a pre TV dollar, pre big money era and doesn't work now. the NFL would never consider it. ....and if you wanted to encourage competing, and discourage tanking.....all you need to do is reverse the draft order starting at pick 18. 18 is the BEST team that missed the playoffs...have that team draft first...and then 17, go 2nd and so on..so that the worst team ends up with the 18th pick. You have every reason to go for it to the end because your reward for trying hard is the first pick. Tanking gets you nothing.....want a higher pick? Try and make the playoffs!
  4. I had Chiefs inner circle passes for Dallas in 2018...met Pancho on the floor. Inner circle is an eperience I HIGHLY reccomend...so cool...to be right there. High fiving dudes that just got picked...and being around all 32 teams rabid fans all in one spot....if any of you ever get a shot to make that happen...do it.
  5. Anyone else seen or hear anything about this....I saw this....NESN guy says it's being worked on. https://www.totalprosports.com/2022/03/24/miami-dolphins-reportedly-working-on-a-trade-for-tom-brady/
  6. I’m not a fan of this deal. Hill is a unique talent. The TD on that crossed vs the Bills isn’t the kind of play anyone else makes. I think Hill is in great shape and is a player who will remain in peak form while. I would like to have seen him extended. That said….30 million per year….isn’t a price I’d be willing to pay for a non QB….I’d entertain it for a 26 year old Hill but not now. Clearly the Chiefs got worse as of today and we all know it’s hard to convert draft choices into productive talent. Certainly replacing a talent of Hills caliber simply should not be expected at all. I’ve seen some talk about Mahomes cap hits being the trouble. I don’t believe that is the case here. Mahomes hit this year is substantial but not prohibitive of having some guys on big deals. Only a team with a rookie QB contract can afford a 30 million dollar 30 year old WR contract. I have also seen lots of talk that KC chose Frank Clark over Hill. That’s from I’ll informed folks that can’t wrap their head around the cap. Frank Clarks cap charge is only about a million more now to have him than the charge to cut him. That million isn’t why Hill isn’t a chief. im not here to say it’s a good move. It does not help. I will say the important part is Mahomes. I maintain KC is a contender as long as he’s on the team. I would contend further, QBs have eras. Rodgers had Driver, then Jordan Melson, then Devonte. Wilson had the Legion of boom. QBs outlast the parts around them. 30 million simply too steep to keep the Hlll era going. The Kirk and Adams deals ushered this in sooner than I would have hoped.
  7. Ryan can still carve up a defense if he is sitting behind a good line....and they've got a pretty good one. They need another tackle...watch them swoop in now on Armstead.

  9. Overspending?
  10. It's 3 mil with incentives that could push it to 10.....the best part of this, for cap purposes, is that incentives are catagorized as likely or not likely...and that is based only on the prior season... The reason that matters is because NOT LIKELY incentives don't count against the cap this year. ... This was/is a great deal for KC.
  11. The Mahomes contract is rapidly becoming the bargain of all bargains. Detroit should draft Malik Willis at no2 this is the opening they’ve been waiting for to bust out of being the worst team in the NFL. The door is wide open. last - I hope Josh Allen and the Bills can get a Lombardi soon…..this looks brutal for all of us AFC fans going forward. Bills stil with that great chance to be 1seed. It’s going to matter…alot
  12. ..... Is this dude for real? KC had a staggering payload of cap space tied up at WR/TE and won the SB. KC will be at least calling on DK. I would expect the Bills to as well.
  13. Elway isn't the GM....hasn't been for 2 years now.
  14. When you have a franchise QB...you don't NEED this at all....getting sideways with your franchise SB winning QB is not what you want ever. Seattle had him under control for 2 more years...if Russ wanted Carrol gone, then he should have been gone..if Russ wanted a passing O instead of that atrocity that Brian Schottenhiemer ran..you make it happen. What would you all do if Allen wanted X, Y and Z....andthe FO and coaches wanted A B and C...? You best be finding out how to make Z Y AND Z happen. Seattle completely failed here. I really really hope this is sarcasm....Lock is not a stud. on the day he was drafted, he had played more high level snaps at QB, than anyone in history, having started out as a kid, onto starting at big class HS, then SEC 4 year starter....his scouting report was the easiest thing to ever write because there was a bazillion miles of tape to watch..... he's been EXACTLY what his scouting report said he'd be in the NFL.....wich is not a stud. This is false. the Broncos have a bad O line....if you visit some broncos boards this is their main concern...they know they must find ways to make the line better...they have been harping on that even before this trade. It's not a good line at all. LOL...mortaged their future? WHAT FUTURE? They didn't have a QB....what future did they mortgage? The one where they drafted Stingly at 9 and have a great secondary and miss the playoffs again becaus they don't have a QB? Please....tell me/us what did they forgo here? LOL....they have a future now because they have a QB.... I'm not a member there...but I am sure those folks can't be objective about this.....because it's the Broncos....but this was a STEAL for Denver. couple other things.. elway is not Denver's GM. George Paton is...this was his deal. All the way. Denver now clearly is in the mix of legit contenders...because QB...but that roster still needs some work..especially at O line....they are thin at CB and DL too. They didn't ahve a single pro bowler last year....some would say there were a QB away....that is true to the extent that if you have a QB, you always have a chance..but that roster isn't as good as many would have thought. ....they have a few nice pieces... And YES...this definitely is a help to the Bills! the vegas odds went down for KC because it make the 1 seed harder. the 1 seed means your path to the SB is one fewer game. The math alone on that is a huge win as getting the 1 will be alot easier for the Bills than any AFC West team for sure. Consider, lets say you are the 1 seed...you aren't playing ALL THREE of Mahomes, Wislon and Herbert...the worst you'd encounter is two of the three. It's a big win for the bills
  15. hill is probalby a little underrated.... Anyhow....I am usually all for letting a WR who is about to sign contract 3 for big money, jus go ahead and walk..but say what you want about Hill....that dude shows up to camp in ROCK solid shape..he's been relatively healthy for his career (his missed time has been due to the kind of injuries that don't affect speed...shoulder etc) ...he's got the appearance of one of the rare dudes that maintains a high level of effectiveness longer than most others.....I want Kc to go ahead and sign him to another high money dea because I think he's worth the money and will be effective for the length of the contract.
  16. Yes. The Saints were legit contenders every year Drew Brees was on that team regardless of their cap situation. They only got 1...maybe that's all KC will ever get too, but KC, with Mahomes, and decent drafting, will always be competing, always structuring deals to sign and/or keep star players and going for it every year until Mahomes is done.
  17. It should be noted that the Raiders hired McDaniel because he laid out in detail, exactly how he would use CARR and make him better. That was widely reported as fact at the time. That doesn't mean they wouldn't make a deal if the right offer came along, but I don't think they have any intention to trade him I would add that Carr is someone you could win a SB with if you put a good enough roster around him....but he isn't a guy that carries a squad to the title himself. I would also add that as noted by several others who replied to this...it's damn hard to find a top 15 NFL QB. It's also very important that you have one.... Go look at the QB rating or QBR...pick whichever....pretty much you know who made the playoffs? The guys in the top 15. If you choice is Carr, or a draft pick....and you aren't even picking up near the top of the draft....you are sticking with Carr.
  18. <Following is NOT intended as a slight to the BILLS> I've mentioned this before....the CAP is not a problem if you want to play the game of kicking the can....which is what KC is doing....very similar to what the Saints did up until Brees retired. Just keep converting money to signing bonus, kick it to next year...and then the next year....it will eventually get to a point where you finally have to eat it and account for it.... Where KC and Buffalo might differ is CASH spending. When you are converting money to signing bonuses...it means your owner is writing a big fat check RIGHT NOW...to pay out. If you don't have alot of operating cash....or you do and just don't want to do business that way...then it matters and might determine in part..how a team handles cap. The Radiers are team that are said to be "cash poor" for example. I would conclude as I have before....the CAP, while not something you can ignore....it is something that you can work around with a combo of good drafting (saints were good drafters) ...and kicking money down the line. KC has drafted well and are set to kick more money down the line. KC will pay that piper later.
  19. I have a solution to this. The draft order would still be the same for teams that made the playoffs...so pick 32 is SB cham, pick 31 is SB runner up...and so on. The NON playoff teams would pick in REVERSE. So the team that had the best record but missed the playoffs, would pick first. Then the second best team to miss the playoffs would would pick 2nd. and so on. This would reward teams for trying to win. It would give teams incentive to play the best they could through the entire schedule It would be a complete disincentive to tank...losing just gets you a worse draft pick, not better one.
  20. This probably won't a be a very comfortable take....but if you are the Saints, and in this racially charged climate..AND you are in cap hell and need to dog paddle through a season or 2 while you get your house in order.... you could hire Eric Bienemy and 1. be percieved as a franchise that is giving a fair shake to minority candidates 2. If he overachieves with bad cap you win..you've got yourself a coach. 3. if he struggles as expected with bad cap situation, you hired him to fire him when you are ready to start over again anyhow. EB gets his HC job, and financial security. Is it right? No.... but it's what I'm thinking they could be thinking. It wouldn't surprise me if the leauge powers that be are calling the Saints and going over this scenario.
  21. If KC didn't land him....I'd be upset they didn't gamble on him in the 4th/5th myself....I'm kind of upset they waited anyhow...if you thought he was that guy...you spend a 4th or 5th and make sure you get him. KC lucky he wasn't taken before they picked in round 6. Only thing I can say about it for ALL teams...is that covid prevented eveyrone from doing up close medical on these guys pre draft. In any other year, he would have gone in the top 45 picks most likely.
  22. ...was he a third round pick? Im not saying he isn't a good pick....getting anyone that starts in round 3 is always good..but steal of the draft?
  23. I wish I knew...it's like he could do no wrong until they missed on points to end the half.....it's like they suddenly believed that the game would play out like the first meeting did.....and then they went out and helped ensure that it did. So wierd.
  24. ....I just said it was a choke...trainwreck...fail.....I'm not trying to argue or make any excuses. ...and once again....Yep.....I joined this board to troll. I trolled for a while...which again, was what I joined to do....and didn't try and say I was something I wasn't. I made troll posts. You have done a great job of recognizing the obvious here, and your ability to continue to fully acknowledge that I came here to troll, and then trolled...is on point. I am not asking for empathy. Regarding bad dudes being on my team....I have stated multiple times that while I wish all my teams dudes were fine upstanding pilars of the community, I accept they are not. If you want to make a case your players are better people, etc...then I'll just take the L. If the legal system says they can have a job playing football, and they play for the team I root for then fine....their job is football player not kindergarten teacher...I want them all to be good people and do better....not all of them do. I'm fine with it.
