Game Thread 1st Half Bills vs Browns

I work all over the city six days a week. Perhaps I stereotyped the population a bit. But there are entire cities like Escondido, Poway, Del Mar, San Ysidro, El Cajon etc. where 9 out of 10 people do not care about the NFL. You must be talking about the huge NFL fan presence in Santee and Rancho Bernardo. Haha!
-
Most of the city doesn't care. People immediately south and east of the 8 are yuppies and hipsters. Go more east and south and people like soccer. Go north of the 8 a few miles and people are multicultural rich folk who barely know what the NFL is. By the beaches from La Jolla north are more rich folk who love money, cars, plastic surgery and clothes, but not the NFL. There are microscopic pockets of people who live near Qualcomm who may still like the Chargers. This place is too superficial even for the NFL! But the weather is great.

Do you think the Bills are doomed to repeat 2008, 2011?
leonbus23 replied to njbuff's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That's how those teams ended the season. When we were 5-2, all those teams who finished at or near .500 appeared as easy games. Check their records after 7 games. So, our perception at that moment in the 2011 season was that we have an easy schedule. The same as our current perception of our schedule. -

When we were 5-2 in 2011, we had a an easy schedule for rest of the season and ended 6-10. So, hopefully we continue to beat the easy teams this year. -

Postmodern military strategy? -
Sports media is a lot like cable news, designed to provoke a reaction. People should avoid it! It's nonsense.

Great news! He'll break one open for sure. Probably rush for at least 75-100 yards.

Bush always had that glazed over smirky expression. Had the same look when they told him the first plane hit. That's his default expression. -
What a joke! I need to just watch wrestling.

Bills Mafia article from The Ringer
leonbus23 replied to Kelly the Dog's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Not to extrapolate too much, I think the behavior serves as an example of people with the vision to live life and enjoy it despite risks. In an all too regulated and legalistic country full of policing and a hyper-emphasis on safety, Bills Mafia show that spontaneous and ritualistic mayhem still happens somewhere. -
Bills Can Win the Division

This will be "in the hunt" picture with the Bills at 5-6. But maybe not! -
True. There appears to be a ton of evidence to support the claim about Epstein. But no reputable evidence has surfaced about any cult or ritual aspect. Essentially, this is how conspiracy theories operate. They take an actual objective fact (Epstein's sexual practices) and then add to it a series of claims that have no evidence to support them and beyond that are entirely un-falsifiable, thus, remaining possible. For instance, Alex Jones stuff about GMOs and the monopoly power of Monsanto is fairly well documented and more or less true. But then he throws a bunch of totally conjectured theories on top of it. In the Epstein case, aren't the objective facts enough? Why must there be a hidden agenda of cults and rituals behind it? The main problem is that if there is always a hidden agenda behind every event, then that leaves us essentially powerless to ever do anything about anything. And every single event can be interpreted as a manifestation of this hidden agenda and, again, it leaves people without any agency to do anything. What if something objectively good happens? In conspiracy circles, it will always be attached to a negative hidden agenda. So, nothing can ever be good in the world and nothing can ever be done by anyone ever. This is very reductive.
