Convince me that the 2020 Pats are good...
Stank_Nasty replied to Kirby Jackson's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
So the pats are gonna grind out 10-11 wins with average ball control offense, completely lacking weapons and a great D.... going head first into the toughest schedule in the league(on paper). GOT IT! -

Todd Haley. Crennel came in a year after the one I was referencing. My bad. Haley was still a crap coach. So the point still stands. And you have totally freaking twisted my words. I don’t know how the premise is so hard to grasp. I never once said I thought cassel was a good qb. I said at that time in his career he was a solid qb(as evidenced by the fact he took another team to a 10-6 record) so bellicheck wasn’t just winning in 08 with some scrub. He had a competent qb(at that time) on top of a loaded roster. somehow you’ve twisted me saying he had a solid coupe of years into me saying I thought cassel was a good qb. WTH dude. -

Romeo crennel won ten games with cassel at qb. I don’t see anyone pointing the table saying crennel was an excellent coach because he won with a crap qb. -

The point is it’s not the only team he led to a winning record. He wasn’t some bum at that point. You just gave the skill players on their offense more credit than anyone in the last calendar year has. They simply aren’t that good. And the ease with which you gave them 10 wins is almost comical. Just assuming a sweep of the jets and fins is silly. They couldn’t even do that last season. -

Matt cassel took the chiefs to the playoffs with 27 td and just 7int 2 years after that as well. He was a capable qb at that point in his career. People always seem to think bellicheck was working with a bottom of the barrel qb when cassel came in. That’s simply not the case. -

His cerebral approach at least kept the offense competent, for the most part, in the 2nd half Of the season. IMO that covered up quite a bit they were lacking on offense. That’s gone now and I think it could get ugly for them on that side of the ball. -

How about they lost their cerebral 20 year vet that could cover up their large deficiencies on offense(that they didn’t fix). They lost their legendary OL coach..... or the fact that they lost 3 top starters from their front 7 on defense? A defense that carried them the whole 2nd half of the season. Would that about do it? ......oh. And stidham..... The “team to beat until proven otherwise” narrative is silly when you add that all up. sorry, but the whole “ But it’s the pats” crap is just a lazy programmed response from the last 20 years. -

Saying they are the to beat until proven otherwise is just a lazy football take. Doesn’t take any sort of thought. -
Right. And the new NFL golden boy, Lamar Jackson, is 0-2 in the playoffs. Barely ever hear a peep about that. In fact his numbers are atrocious in his 2 games. Completing 51% of his passes with 3td and 5 turnovers. Let’s add in a passer rating in the 60’s. as for mcdermott. My initial reaction was “that seems a bit low”, but as I looked down the names of the top 10 there wasn’t anyone i could definitively put him in front of. So I agree 11 seems like a good slot for him.

You won’t die up there alone. I’ll be there right beside you. I’m been preaching the gospel to anyone within earshot(which isn’t very many during these times). It’s not a good looking squad. Bellicheck is only worth so many wins. im so freaking tired of people stroking on them because of the last 20 years. Like you said, so programmed to be afraid of them people can’t see that it’s just a bad roster right now.

Talk of no alcohol at NFL games this season.
Stank_Nasty replied to Jrb1979's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Aren’t they just referring to alcohol at the actual game? This wouldnt really alter my experience at all. I catch a real solid buzz before I head in and usually just let it ride. -
25 Best of all Time in the NFL !!

.623 win %. 11 winning seasons in 15 years along with 8 division titles , 2 Super Bowls and one title. I’d argue the numbers disagree with you. But I wouldn’t argue too hard because, living on the outskirts of “Stiller” country, I can’t freaking stand that team. ?.... anyhow, I think he’s slotted pretty fairly on that list. Give it take a position or 2 either way. -

.590 win % over 17 years and 2 teams. 14 winning seasons. 3 Super Bowls total with 2 different teams and a ring. he’s most definitely has a much stronger argument than some of the coaches on that list. -

Right. I don’t think it’s even a debate at this point. -

Without looking, Parcells and Walsh immediately come to mind. ... Gibbs. cowher holmgren and I’m a huge schottenhiemer fan even though he never won a title. The guy turned every franchise he touched into a powerhouse. I also think Andy Reid has to be in the convo as well now. EDIT: I just now looked at the list and it occurred to me I hate the pats so much I totally forgot about bellicheck. Lolol. -

They didn’t cover any of that I don’t think. It’s very evident that the pressure sleeve he wears is hiding quite a bit. -

His life was most definitely at risk once the infection took. The dr’s said as much in the episode. He had a flesh eating bacteria spreading at a rapid rate and they were cutting chunks of his leg off daily. Yes amputation should have been on the table at that point. and Context is needed to say that chopping it off should or shouldn’t be considered. They had actual vets on the show who battled with their maimed limbs for long periods of time before realizing just taking it off was a better option for quality of life. In fact if it starts giving him too many issues down the line I wouldn’t be one bit surprised if he goes the prosthetic route. i have to ask. Did you actually watch the show in it’s entirety? -

That photo you saw does it no justice. They eventually had to take all the tissue off the top of his leg from his mid thigh down to his ankle due to a flesh eating bacteria. Exposing bone and the nine yards. It was.... horrendous. they tried putting his leg back together with tissue from his calf on injured leg and quad from other leg. I still have to wonder years down the line if he’ll just amputate with how well tech is progressing in that area. -

Its actually not an awful fire to be tossed into. Green, Boyd and Higgins on the outside with mixon behind him. He’ll have weapons. Protection? Not so much. Although they will be getting back Their first rounder from last year at LT(williams).

Haha. I was trying to be diplomatic.
