  1. We have no Crosby, Bosa, Garrett, Chris Jones type on this DL. When Daquan was healthy, we had 4 above average DL rushing together, with AJE as a 5th… the sum of their parts was greater than their individual talent. But.. as we saw last year.. if we take one cog out of the unit and/or guys get dinged up.. the pass rush disappears. None of these guys seem to regularly be able to affect a game themselves. They need to healthy as a unit and individually.. which is really disappointing given the draft capital and money spent. Maybe Linval Joseph and Von, at some point, returning to 80% can elevate them again … but they look like the same group we had last year. Elite with Von. Completely average without.
  2. It’s not surprising to me. We had some bad stretches with Daboll… I was at the Jax game. However, we saw them be able to flip the switch and catch fire. We’ve yet to see that with Dorsey.
  3. Now that Douglas and Joseph should be up to speed, I have zero appetite to hear about injuries anymore. Im not talking about us being elite on defense, that’s fair to say we won’t get there due to the losses of Jones, Milano and White.. but they’ve now been replaced by Joseph and Douglas. We also drafted a LB in RD3 who should be able to learn as he goes given we’ve filled in the other spots. Figure it out. McDermott has more than enough to work with .. and this defense better rise up from the dregs of the NFL where they’ve been residing for a month…. It was unacceptable with a defensive HC then, and will certainly be unacceptable now.
  4. Jets have a ton of OL injuries and lost their starting QB five seconds into Week 1. I'm not even trying to laugh at them when they've gone through all of that, plus a tougher schedule, and sit a half game behind us.
  5. We have no game breakers up front on the DL. It's a massive issue, and given the investment... unacceptable. When everyone is healthy, we have a ton of above average/very good DL and it shows - as they are a menace when rushing together. However, when one of them goes down to injury, the fact none of them can take over a game with any regularity is glaring.
  6. The point about TOP and the Defense cannot be overstated. McDermott is a defensive HC and yes, we've had injuries, but not only are they giving up points quickly every game.. they don't get off the field. Even when they get a stop, the opposing team has typically gotten 2-3 first downs and we end up starting our drives backed up. This doesn't excuse the clunky and unacceptable offensive performances, but if we are going to have a Defensive-minded HC, we can't have a sieve of a Defense when some injuries occur. He needs to be better and now that Douglas/Joseph have had time to integrate... it needs to start now.
  7. Our issues are mainly on Offense as we have an elite QB, a good OL, elite WR1 and a stud young TE. They should be much, much better. That being said, outside of those components, we are lacking in terms of WR2 and OC.. two pretty important pieces of a good Offense. Not going to absolve the Defense though. We are sacrificing Offensive continuity for Allen in order to have a Defensive minded HC. One who apparently needs top tier talent all over the field or else we are the worst defense in the NFL.
  8. Apparently we can only run up-tempo with optimal starting field position and pandemic-era crowd noise.
  9. His throw at the end of the Jags game (that Diggs dropped) was probably the hardest thrown, most absurd pass I’ve ever seen.
  10. Probably true. We have a good pass blocking OL, but they have an elite IOL at both pass pro and getting push in run blocking. Morse and McGovern are more pass blockers and Torrence is still a rookie.
  11. Mahomes is struggling with a similar model … an elite weapon, a good OL and then a bunch of guys. They’re integrating some RD2 WR’s and we’re integrating rookie Kincaid. Difference is their defense is healthy and dominating. Ours is injured and likely the difference between at worst 6-3, now 5-4. But we all knew we didn’t have enough on offense. KC has super bowls and an offensive guru in Reid to hope they figure it out.
  12. We all know how this plays out. McDermott gets next year, no matter what. The only question is whether Dorsey gets let go. I would hope McDermott's recent answers to questions about the Offense, when paired with the fact his bread and butter (Defense) has become the worst statistical defense in the league after getting hit with the injury bug, would finally open eyes at OBD.. but he has his built in excuse, along with a fall guy. He's going to be here next year.
  13. Is it crazy to think this offense with our much improved OL, Diggs - Hopkins - Shakir and a rotation/mixed use of Kincaid (mainly) & Knox (backup) would be high powered? Maybe it's far more complex than I'm making it out to be, but it sure feels like Gabe Davis as our WR2 is a massive issue in terms of our success and consistency. And if someone wants to push back on Hopkins.. ok, fine, any WR2 that run a full route tree for Allen. It's wildly obvious now that Davis as WR2 and his limited skillset and/or function here is a huge contributor to the high variance of this offense.
  14. Under McDermott, we will likely never be on the cutting edge of offense. The way Allen plays, along with his tendencies.. we should probably stop playing games at WR and just get him legitimate WR2 that can run a full route tree. He clearly throws to who he trusts. Right now, it's Diggs and Kincaid.. which makes sense, because they are top tier talents. After that, it may be Shakir.. which, again, makes some sense because Shakir is in his true spot as WR3/Slot. Gabe is up and down because he's not a WR2 and is completely miscast in this Offense as we keep trying to tell Josh to trust someone in a role they are not built to occupy. He'll never be a consistent spread it around guy. He has his guys.. he trusts his guys.. Get him a legitimate WR2 that can run a full route tree and watch things pick up. Harty & Sherfield are just WR4/WR5 misfits here. I guess, for this year, we'll have to hope Gabe Davis magically becomes it.. or we can build an Offense around consistent production from Diggs, Kincaid and perhaps Shakir or a healthy Knox.
  15. Yea, I'm hesitant to say 10 is the magic number for us, but according to those who ran the predictors, it's pretty close to a lock if we get there. We also forget that other teams we're looking up at/battling with currently also have tough games on their schedule. This week alone: Texans/Bengals Browns/Ravens Lions/Chargers Jets/Raiders Would guess we're all pulling for Bengals, Ravens, Lions and Raiders.
  16. I've been pretty critical of this team for much of the year, but the OP is correct.. At Cinci was always the toughest game on our schedule. We obviously have to win the next two and figure some things out over these coming weeks, but I feel way more confident in us beating Philly in Philly and/or KC in KC. When you play teams also matters.. Right now we're wounded and the replacements aren't up to speed. We caught Cinci at the exact moment they started putting it together. Philly and KC don't look all that great for their records, and maybe they pull it together and look unstoppable just in time for us to play them as well.. but you never know until the game occurs, and on paper, we match up far better against them than CIN. CIN has a QB who will always take what's given, a power running game and elite WR's all over the place. He has a great mind on Offense and one of the best big game DC's in the league... and one who runs concepts, with personnel, that clearly affect what we want to do. They are, as it stands, our toughest matchup.
  17. There’s a few major Bills accounts/groups that I will never support or follow due to how they acted during this. Absolutely shameful how some in this fanbase treated this kid.
  18. Im not even joking when I would take back Daboll as HC in a heartbeat. And honestly McDermott might be great for the rebuilding Giants. Daboll has a connection with Allen, and at this point, that’s all I care about … because Dorsey seems to have our star QB’s head in a tourniquet .. and the HC/QB relationship is very evident in KC, MIA and CIN.
  19. Just wondering out loud how I’d react if one of my salesmen had processes in place that yielded high commissions and then just kept deciding at random to do something completely different that always ended up losing clients… Pretty sure I wouldn’t be cool with them telling me that they’re just trying different styles of marketing.
  20. Floyd Rousseau Oliver Epenesa Bernard Benford Jackson Hyde Poyer Johnson I won't count people like Von, rotational DL guys etc., who haven't really done much. We've had injuries that can absolutely warrant a drop from elite status to middle of the pack. But to have this precipitous of a drop under a DEFENSIVE MINDED HEAD COACH is absolutely unacceptable. You can't convince me half the DC's in this league couldn't do more with the talent I just listed. Yes, Offense is a major problem this year, but to warrant having a defensive minded head coach (which is likely a good bit of the reason for the offensive woes) struggle so much due to an injury bug just cannot happen. Again, middle of the pack defense.. ok. Not amazing, but understandable. What's happened since.. pathetic. We're so sorry Sean, that you don't get an entire 1-11 of high draft picks, high value FA's and star players... but really?.. this is what we get now?
  21. This. I'll give McDermott credit for having a functioning defense given these injuries, but in terms of being elite... it can't be Tre goes down, we can't stop good offenses. Von goes down, we can't stop good offenses. Daquan/Milano/Tre go down.. we become one of the worst defenses in the league. All the while talented players regress all over the place. It's just not enough from McDermott over the years to warrant us sacrificing the offense to musical chairs at OC.
  22. We're stuck with Von and Knox, for better or worse. Tre White, pay reduction or cut. Take a machete to the rest of the defense and let Gabe Davis walk.
  23. I don't necessarily want to hear the injury excuses.. but the Chiefs make us look like we're made of glass in terms of major injuries. The one time they dealt with them in the Mahomes era was in the Super Bowl.. where he got smoked by the Bucs Defense.
  24. Agreed on OBL, when we're playing like this, they are impossible to listen to. Props to Nate Geary last night.. his monologue post game was cathartic.
  25. I honestly don't know what to think about anyone on this defense. When everyone is healthy, the defense is an absolute unit. When we have injuries, or anyone gets dinged up, they severely underperform playing through injury and/or apparently need elite talent around them to perform at a high level - specifically on the DL.
