Plausible X/#1 receiver trade candidates — are there any?
SCBills replied to dave mcbride's topic in The Stadium Wall
A caller to postgame made the correct statement last night… essentially “we need to overpay bc of Beane’s mismanagement of the roster” It is what it is. Shaheed as a rental is obviously not worth a 3. But if he’s one of only a couple outside receivers available, beggars can’t be choosers. -
I think he’s made it known he wants that contract revisited.

Ravens 2-5 Steelers 4-3 Ravens next 3 games: Dolphins, Vikings, Browns. Steelers next 3 games: Colts, Chargers, Bengals. Wouldn’t be shocked to see the Ravens at 5-5 tied with the Steelers at 5-5 by 10/16, barring Lamar having a contract related hamstring injury that lingers.

Joe B (The Athletic) on passing game problems (with data)
SCBills replied to dave mcbride's topic in The Stadium Wall
Even more frustrating than the complete non existence of a passing game if the fact that Josh is getting hit, much more. My biggest fear if we don’t trade for a WR and/or Brady doesn’t get his act together isn’t that the Offense can’t pass the ball… it’s that Josh gets hurt. -
If Ed Oliver can make it back for the Playoffs, which WC/Divisional Round would be the timeline if he has surgery this week.. that’s a huge get for the Postseason. Obviously the worry is how effective will he be if/when he gets back.

That’s what the Defense could be right there
SCBills replied to Billsfed1's topic in The Stadium Wall
Falcons showing they’re not a good team in the two games immediately following us, yet we let them dominate us on both sides of the ball for most of the game. Can only line up against who’s across from you and with this being the first real action for Ogunjobi and Hoecht plus the young secondary guys in Hairston and Hancock, I’ll take the positives and hope they carry it over to KC. -

Bosa, Rousseau, Hoecht and AJE is a strong DE rotation. If we can get to the Playoffs with a healthy Walker, Jones, Ogunjobi and Sanders, I feel pretty good about that group with Hoecht able to kick inside on pass downs. Hairston & Benford have the talent to be a Top 10 CB tandem in the league. Can they get there? LB/Slot is a mixed bag. Shaq/Williams is great depth. Problem is they’ve been playing better than Bernard/Milano and Taron Johnson looks like he’s stuck in mud. Safety may have provided enough evidence today that Jordan, Jordan and Bishop can work. Especially when it probably became need #3, behind WR and DT on the trade board. Think this Defense’s high end ability comes from the 4 DE’s and Benford/Hairston. They could really elevate this group if they all figure it out. -
Hate to say this … but the Pats are effing good
SCBills replied to dave mcbride's topic in The Stadium Wall
Does anyone find something on Drake Maye like CJ Stroud, Jaden Daniels etc? So far, not yet. That said.. I’m a little exhausted with the Pats dooming. We have next to zero forward pass game at the moment and it took losing the turnover battle by 2, in the midst of our annual slump, to lose a one possession game to them. Their schedule is the biggest worry. -

So… Michael Hoecht is a legit DUDE, huh? -

The one team you rarely ever see having these types of massive injuries to major players is the Chiefs. And not coincidentally, they run the AFC.

Trade for a WR, try to fix the Offense and do what we can on Defense. Just insane at this point.

The run blocking in this game, against a good run defense, is filthy. -

It’s so disheartening that Andy Dalton can drop back on a 3rd and 3 with a WR who gets open for an easy pitch and catch, yet that seems impossible for us. -

Sad to see but we might need to get a look at someone else at slot corner. -

The WR situation is causing Allen to revert to horrible past tendencies. Beane better make a move this week before Allen ends up hurting himself. -

Samuel screws the team bc he can’t line up correctly. Josh Allen presses because the team around him at WR is a mess. This is where we’re at. -

Elijah Moore needs to find a way to get both feet down there. Everything is just so difficult all the time. -

Allen is brutal right now -
I want him to be great. I hope he’s amazing today. But right now he runs a Brock Purdy game manager Offense that is extremely predictable. That won’t cut it when it matters unless our Defense gets a lot better.

Game week thread - Bills at Panthers (Game week preview on pg. 18)
SCBills replied to BillsFan619's topic in The Stadium Wall
IF they trade for an upgrade at WR, I don’t necessarily see a weakness on Offense. The only way teams have been able to slow us down would be neutralized. It’s an easy fix (relatively speaking) if they can find a trade partner. We have one major weakness to exploit on Offense and that would theoretically take it away. On Defense, this group could look ALOT different come Playoffs. Hoecht and Hairston are big additions once they get their footing. Safety is probably a bandaid position where we hope for solid play if they don’t swing a trade. If Hairston is good, the entire Defense changes. Scheme, talent ceiling.. everything. Honestly, even if he’s serviceable, we probably see a major uptick.
