Giants PR just got a hold of him…

Not sure what y’all are watching. He looks pretty good here, blocking Darren Waller.

Leslie Frazier, Alex Smith, and the Golden Handcuffs
SCBills replied to Long Suffering Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall
We've had 3 games of 4th Quarter garbage stats. McDermott has years of tape/tendencies as a DC. He's not running some kind of innovative scheme.. It's what his pedigree was in the past - mixing coverages on the back end with a lot of creeper pressure / simulated pressure looks up front. -
True. However the regular season determines whether we play KC in Arrowhead or in Orchard Park.
-
Yup - Sometimes teams just overthink it. Torrence was the consensus best IOL in the Draft, yet dropped because he lacks positional flexibility.

Elam a healthy scratch part deux (now part TRES) (now part QUATRO)
SCBills replied to FireChans's topic in The Stadium Wall
I pretty much have absolute faith in McDermott when it comes to the Defense now. If guys like Elam and Ford can't get a jersey on Gameday, so be it. I'm not questioning it anymore. That being said, Elam has talent.. and has shown that talent on the field in big moments as a rookie. He was arguably one of our best defenders in the playoffs last year. I still have high hopes for Kaiir. -
Just reported that Gonzalez is done for the year. Man, the attrition at CB league-wide is real…

It’s hard to win a Super Bowl, but I cringe when people say getting the 1 seed isn’t a massive deal. Our path to the Super Bowl last year, if we were the 1: Bye Home Jax Home KC Somehow the QB of the team that has never played a road playoff game keeps going to the Super Bowl.. go figure.

Bills lose Eli Ankou to Falcons, signed off Bills PS
SCBills replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall
He’s a tricky one because he seems like the logical choice to get cut, but he has multiple years under Bills control … and there’s no guarantee Epenesa, Floyd and/or Lawson are back next year. -
I don’t feel good about myself that I can’t believe this man is any good at football due to his name.
-
I'll certainly give Burrow his injury excuse, just like I wish people did for Allen last year.. but if I'm a Bengals fan, I'm worried because A) Burrow is not Mahomes or Allen in terms of his physical talent, and B) This is likely the last year they have together before a cash-flow strapped owner gets hit with some serious financial implications for the success they've had in drafting.

The energy is back for me. McDermott is currently making the case to me that we can absolutely win a Super Bowl with him. The effect he's had on this Defense, both schematically and in terms of player development is beyond what I expected. It's what I hoped, but wasn't sure of. Beane has finally figured out the lines. We now have a Top 10 OL and Top 3 DL. We are destroying people on the LOS. Josh Allen, OL/DL investment and McDermott leading the Defense is the formula. We have weapons, but I wouldn't say Diggs, Davis, Knox, Kincaid , Cook and co. are an elite group of weapons, but the weapons are Super Bowl caliber.. especially when paired with those three components I listed. This team is loaded. It's deep. It's well coached. And Brandon Beane's recent drafts and money spent are HITTING.

Bright side is this happened before the trade deadline. I do think we should have belief that Benford, Jackson and Elam can be a very solid outside unit .. especially with the Front 7 and Safety play around them .. but, worse case scenario, we can make a move for legitimate help.
-
At least we don't have to fly to Frankfurt, Germany.. I guess there's that.
-
Agreed. And didn't we play zone against Miami at a wildly high clip? Elam has every physical trait you could want in a corner and I still have belief he can be a big time player for us, but I also think we would be smart to get in the market for a veteran corner more well-versed in zone, even if just as depth/4th CB on the 53.

Hypothetically… Brian Daboll gets the boot….
SCBills replied to The 9 Isles's topic in The Stadium Wall
Giants fire Brian Daboll and hire Ken Dorsey is a fun nightmare to entertain. -
I would agree that Bernard/Milano/Johnson is probably right there with the 49ers for best second level in the NFL.. and it's a huge reason why our Defense is elite. Our DL though, for as elite as they are as rushing the passer.. also is solid against the run and doesn't let big bodies get to the second level. That also allows our linebackers to play in space, where their speed and athleticism is put on full display. The entire Front 7 is a monster, and they work so well together.
-
Aikman hates everything, and everyone, in this game.
-
“Not every team has a Milano and Bernard…” -an analyst on ESPN today when asked about if the Bills put the blueprint out to stop the leagues best offense going into Week 4.
-
They went to the Kyle Pitts school of team building.
-
McDermott is definitely weird about Elam. His answers whenever asked about Kaiir come across like he’s beyond annoyed to have to talk about him.
-
Benford’s coverage metrics have been elite. Tre was solid. We know the staff loves Dane Jackson, and if he could ever develop any semblance of ball skills, he’d be a coveted corner given his run defense and sticky coverage. It’s not out of the realm of possibilities that Elam has simply been beat out by 3 good players. The bright side is that Elam has the highest ceiling, traits-wise, of anyone in this secondary, even before Tre went down. The downside is that, even with his above average performances in big moments last year, the staff doesn’t trust him yet. He’s one of the more talented players on this defense, but on a unit that requires you to be a cog, he’s used to going man up and it seems the staff is struggling to coach that out of him.

Tre White Injury Updates (Torn Achilles now confirmed)
SCBills replied to Process's topic in The Stadium Wall
With how Jones/Oliver are playing, I’d be tempted to rest him this week and roll with Floyd, Epenesa, Lawson and Jonathan. Just like they potentially did with Poyer/Rapp this past week.. trust your depth. It’s a long season. AJ seems to have made the jump, and I’d be open to giving him his shot in the spotlight. Then if we’re targeting Week 6 for Von, we can hopefully buy another couple weeks for Rousseau, if need be.
