  1. You are mis-remembering. Statistically he was actually DEAD LAST in deep ball accuracy last year. Nobody was worse. He's just continuing that this year, only this time it's more noticeable because there's quite a few times our WR's are open downfield & he's still missing them (just as often under throwing them as over throwing them). Even worse is all the times he didn't even see the open man down field. Those plays where there's a likely TD or at worst, a giant gain, and Allen's back there running around locked on to his 1st read, then taking a sack or just throwing a low percentage pass.
  2. I don't see any reason why it'd be easier to shut down Barkley than it would be to shut down Allen. Put any kind of pressure on Allen & cover his first read, and he starts running around almost without fail. DB's will be chomping at the bit to look good & pad their stats and will be looking for easy picks all day. Sure, Allen CAN make a few runs & extend plays, but he's just as likely to take a dumb sack or lob it into 3 defenders instead of throwing the ball away, just because he panics. Teams really haven't had trouble stopping Allen from rushing this year. He's good for a couple good runs a game, but nothing insane. He's averaging 7 rushes & 32 yards a game, good for just over 4 yards a carry this season. Sure, that's more than some QB's, but it's nothing spectacular, as teams have pretty much figured out it's worth being aggressive against him as he'll rarely punish you unless there's actual broken coverage downfield. Again, he CAN do some good things extending plays, but someone like Barkley is more likely to make you pay being that aggressive, as he knows how to read a defense & can adjust presnap to coming pressure. Just look at last year for example, Barkley was picked up off the streets, had barely any time to get up to speed with the playbook, had no chemistry with anyone and put out our best offensive performance of the year, destroying the Jets 41-10 on the road. Only 3 games later we got the 3-9 Jets at home, and Allen struggled to do anything, resorting to playing RB all game & just hoping for the best when passing. Made it EASIER for the Jets to deal with him since they knew he couldn't do much through the air.
  3. The problem is these aren't just the occasional INTs trying to take a chance, they're panic, hope & a prayer lobs thrown just in any direction he's facing at the time. Doesn't matter if there are 4 defenders to 1 Bills player, he still chucks it up without any common sense. It's not great coverage or bad routes, it's not a WR slipping or end of half Hail Mary's, it's hold the ball for 3+ seconds, decide to run around, get into a bad situation, then throw off the back foot just wherever he can. Even worse is his deep ball passes lack any kind of precision or power, they're often wobbly, and UNDER thrown where the WR has no chance to come down with the ball. If these were just bad timing mistakes or getting hit from behind while throwing (and not after having held onto the ball for far too long) it'd be a little more forgivable. On top of that, there easily could've been even MORE INT"s this season if the DBs didn't drop freebie picks. Fumbles could've costed us more as well, but great heads up plays by our team have mitigated the damage done from those too. People keep throwing out the term "hero ball" to try to give an impression he's a gunslinger like Brett Favre. Sadly, that's just not the case. When your wins are mostly based on how much the defense can mitigate the damage you do on offense, then see if you can dig yourself out of the whole YOU made (either by just disappearing for a couple quarters or overcoming your turnovers), you can't even be compared to those types of players, even if you manage to do something right & put together a good drive at the end of the game.
  4. I hate to say it, but you're right. Tyrod was mediocre, but at least he wasn't turning the ball over left & right. Any half decent game manger QB, Tyrod included, would've won the game against the Patriots last week. If we can't beat Brady & Co. at their absolute worst, there's zero chance we beat them at their best. The defense played brilliantly, and aside from a blocked punt, the special teams has been great. Averaging 30+ yards returning the ball is top 3 in the league, and coupled with the defense gave us plenty of opportunities to start in good field position. Yet time & time again Allen was there to make the same mistakes over & over & over again. Taking dumb sacks that knocked us out of FG range costing us points, turning it over costing us points, and being Nathan Peterman levels of awful in the first half. Josh has yet to put together a complete 4 quarters of good QB play this season, and has barely managed to beat some of the crappiest teams in the league. The only reason he's even able to help with those comeback wins is due to the defense playing out of their minds to overcompensate for our awful offensive performances and Allen's turnovers. But yay, he helps dig us out of the whole he created to escape with wins. 3 passing TD's (where 1 was just a glorified handoff), 6 INT's, 3 fumbles (where thankfully 2 were recovered by our team) and a 38.6 QBR, even worse than last year, does NOT signal a "good" or even average QB by any means. And the one thing he's supposed to be good at, throwing deep, he's awful at... Worst in the league last year, and bottom of the league this year. Even worse is the amount of times he had open guys with a few steps on their guy and he didn't even see them. At least the ones he either completely wobbles short or launches 5-10 yards past the open man shows he saw them, but just outright being unaware they're even open just hurts even more. His lack of awareness in so many situations is killing us. It's ok to make mistakes, but making the same ones repeatedly, and in every situation they come up, is most concerning. It shows an inability to learn, and that he goes off pure instinct...instinct that is poorly suited for the NFL combined with his lack of awareness. I've hoped I was wrong about him since we drafted him, but there has been nothing shown on the field that points to him being any other than exactly what he was in college. Still hoping McDermott & Co. can pull off a miracle & do what nobody else coaching him has been able to do, but considering their ability to gauge QB talent, it doesn't seem likely unless they bring in someone from the outside to turn things around.
  5. If Allen hadn't taken those sacks to get us out of FG range, 3 points would've tied the game. Rather have those 3 points now than none at all.
  6. I think he was just surprised the ball even came near him. Allen would've floated that to the stands or nailed it into the dirt 5 feet behind him.
  7. Guess we're still going to blame the refs?
  8. The offense actually looked competent for a few minutes, that was at least nice. Coming off the bench, started off better than Allen started the game.
  9. When you're down by 6 and nobody has been scoring, take the damn points! And sure hands Zay strikes again....Bad pass made even worse by a tip
  10. Just for the record, we're entering the 4th quarter only down 6. If our QB was only a game manager, we'd be winning. Sacks taking FG's off the board, giving the Pats extra drives, failing to do anything with great field position, etc. This is a solid team tying to overcome one huge anchor weighing them down
  11. The refs have helped us so many times this game. I don't even want to hear this. Cant wait to hear people crying about the bad defense soon. Who cares if they're exhausted and getting screwed over by the QB... lets blame them once the scores starts piling up!
  12. Beating some crap teams to end last season and escaping with wins against crap teams this season does not make a good QB. But I guess it was fun to pretend for a while, especially mocking QB's like Mayfield to do so (who is winning on the road atm against a good division rival btw).
  13. Remember when people desperately tried to convince themselves Allen was good because bad teams didn't punish his bad decisions? Hopefully this will be a wakeup call and people can finally start discussion Allen's abilities honestly. He's been making these decisions EVERY WEEK. None of what we're seeing is new. Bad teams dropped easy interceptions, and bad teams didn't score off turnovers. Good teams punish bad decisions.
  14. I've been saying this since last year. Not only are his passes ugly wobblers, but they miss the mark almost every time. If Peterman had Allen's arm strength, I'd take him over Allen 10/10 times.
  15. The guy has the worst awareness and worst deep pass accuracy in the game. It's like Patrick Mahomes, only with none of the skill and intelligence.
  16. What the f*** did I just say. It's not playcalling, Allen can't be trusted.
  17. Ok, so when we hand it off and throw swing/screen passes here, it's not because our play calling sucks, it's because Allen has been making awful decisions and needs to be babysat in order to prevent a pick 6.
  18. When your QB can't execute plays, play calling becomes severely limited! What part of this do people not understand? I called this in the 1st quarter. People inevitably blaming playcalling when the OC is forced to close shop on anything but a vanilla offense. And even then the QB is playing like Rob Johnson, unable to just stick to the bare minimum fundamentals.
  19. Allen's ability to run helps 25% of the time , hurts us 75% of the time because he won't just throw the damn ball away... When you have the ball for 3-4 seconds, or even longer, your internal timer should tell you trouble is nearby, throw the ball away!
  20. If the game was over right now I'd actually feel positive overall lol. Losing only 13-10 with a defensive performance like this would be encouraging.
  21. Dumb decisions literally costing us points. One TD from an INT, a missed FG from taking a dumb sack. I haven't seen this bad QB play in ages. Even in Tyrod's sub 100 yard passing games he at least wasn't turning the ball over.
  22. Stupid plays from him. Stupid plays. Throw the ball away, holy crap. Brady would never take a sack after having that long to throw.
  23. Allen seriously does have the worst deep ball accuracy in the NFL... carrying over that mantle from last year I guess.
  24. And people have the nerve to talk s*** about Gore each week whenever he doesn't entirely makeup for Allen's mistakes...
  25. Now if only the offense could stay on the field long enough to give the defense a damn breather... A good team would find a way to respond, or at the very least, mitigate the damage and not give Brady the ball back. They will almost certainly score if they have 2 mins + timeouts to drive.
