  1. NBA for sure right now, but typically college football ranks up there for least parity. Especially since you can pick & choose your opponents, and the top teams get top recruits, and the cycle goes on & on & on. Alabama has won how many Championships the past decade? And how many other D-1 schools really have a legit shot? About 1% or less...
  2. I don't like the Wentz comparison. Wentz & Co. whooped up on their competition, winning the FCS Championship in all his years there. He also finished as a senior, graduated with a 4.0, which just shows how mature & developed he was. He definitely had a better completion percentage, and didn't have the troubles Allen does reading a defense (and was a better runner). On the flip side, Allen is more naturally gifted, and according to some research others have done, NDS's opponents had 56.45% SoS compared to Wyoming's 60.79%, so Allen was playing slightly more difficult competition. I don't think he's a sure-fire bust, but he definitely was more of a risk.
  3. If by "last legs" you mean still far and away the largest, most popular and followed sports media outlet, I guess?
  4. I'm not sure where I'd rank everyone, but I agree with quite a few things others have posted. Brady is easily #1. Aikman wasn't "better" than a lot of these QB's, but if it's based on sheer winning, sure, he belongs (same with Bradshaw). Rodgers definitely belongs in the top 10 already. Kelly deserves a top 20 spot, but as Bills fans, we definitely think higher of him than others. He averaged 21.5 TD's & 16 INT's a season, which really isn't much to write home about. His impressive accomplishments come from him basically calling his own plays, being that actual field-general, and being the QB of a stacked team that went to 4 SB's. He had 3 seasons throwing for more/same amount of INT's than TD's, and only broke 30 TD's once. But then again, compared to his peers, it looks better. John Elway averaged 18.75 TD's & 14 INT's a season, while Steve Young averaged 17 TD's & 6.5 INT's a season for the 49er's. So he had averaged more TD's, but also more INT's, and was in the middle with yards. Some give him more credit for the SB streak, some give him less due to the talent around him. Some also take away credit simply because he never won any of those SB's. So I see both sides, but when it comes to definitive "greats," he's somewhere in the top 20-15 range.
  5. In an unintentional way, yes. I grew up in Northern Virginia, about 45 mins from DC. First football game I ever watched was the Bills vs Redskins Super Bowl. My dad started explaining the game to me, and I picked up on all of it instantly. However, I couldn't figure out why the heck him, my uncles and cousins, and friends that were over all liked the Redskins due to the Bills colors & logo naturally being much better looking lol. I saw the ugly maroon (burgundy, I know) and muted yellow (gold), and that boring Native American face on the helmet & couldn't get past it. The Bills logo looked badass, and the uniforms clicked. They all thought it was funny, but my dad was just happy his 5 year old son got so into football, so he let me stay up with everyone. When they lost, I told him it's ok, I still like them and will watch them in the Super Bowl next year. He had a friend that worked at the same company in Buffalo at the time, and within a week, I had dozens & dozens of packs of football cards, including full Buffalo Bills roster sets, shipped from there to me. Then hats, T-shirts, posters, etc. as I flooded my room with Bills stuff. By the time the next season started, I already knew every single player. I even got a map of the US, found Buffalo on it, and circled & drew around it, saying that's where I wanted to move one day. Thankfully, while I was growing up, the Bills were really good, so I never changed teams or grew into being a Skins fan like my massive family. Most kids are fickle & flip between popular teams, but by the time the Bills started sucking, I was already 14 & too old to ever consider switching allegiances. And the whole time, my dad supported it, and any time the Bills played the Skins in DC, he'd take me (it was great watching Flutie kick their butts from 1st row 50 yard line!) A few times since the drought I've asked him "why the hell did you let me grow up a Bills fan!?" as, it was just too depressing, and I sure would try my best to get my kids get into the Bills. He just said he was happy I liked football so much, and gave us something to do together. Rude, right?!
  6. Notice the crickets since you posted this? He's nowhere to be found lol. Props to you, good post!
  7. Packers fans being "Cheese heads" is one of my favorites. OJ Simpson being "the Juice" was always memorable. "He Hate Me" from the XFL still is a standout. His was one of the only ones people still remember. Chad "Ochocinco" was funny in a stupid way, mainly because he legally got his name changed (and it translated to "Eight Five" instead of "Eighty Five" like he wanted)... The best Bills one though is "The Amish Rifle" for Fitzpatrick though. That one is pretty unique.
  8. Very generous ranking. If we were in the square in the middle of all rosters, so many "experts" wouldn't be projecting us to be in the top 3 picks of the draft next year. But hey, if having a better roster than 50% of teams equals to us somehow winning 50% of our games too, I'll consider that a win.
  9. Man, that sounds so much like Dick Jauron it's crazy... He was all about those "character" guys. Denny, Coy Wire, Chris Kelsay, Ko Simpson, Josh Reed... those guys were supposed to be the foundation, high-motor good guys. But we saw, talent beat character time & time again. You can definitely have both, but just dropping everyone who has an ego also causes problems.
  10. Lol we'll see. The grass isn't always greener... We thought losing Rex our offense would improve too (since he was a "defensive-minded" coach) but it didn't. Losing Kromer was what really hurt.
  11. Here you go - https://www.footballoutsiders.com/stats/drivestatsdef Bills total 3 & outs - Ranked dead last at 32nd in the league with a 0.183 percentage. Next closest was Indianapolis with a 0.189 percentage. I have no idea where you came up with them being one of the "better teams in the league" in 3 & outs, but you're completely incorrect.
  12. No...You must be confused. Up until the 2nd to last game, the Bills were ranked in the bottom 3 in the league in 3 & outs. Not gonna be rude & say "Nice try though," but you should probably check up on that, as we were dead last for a while, and ended the season in similar fashion.
  13. #4. Not having to be on the field 80% of the game because the offense goes 3 & out every drive. That alone will allow the defense to perform much better in all areas. There were times the defense just made a crucial 3rd down stop after the opposing offense marched down the field taking 7 mins off the clock, giving us life. By the time they took off their helmets, got a drink, and were about to finally get some much-needed rest, the offense was already trotting back to the sideline before the defense ever caught their breath! They'd be thrown right back out into the fire, exhausted & beat up, while the offense still hadn't broken in a sweat yet. Maybe not leading the league in 3 & outs will improve our defense by default.
  14. Well we were a C+ last year, lost our 2 best players (3 if you count Glenn), so logically we've at least dropped a letter grade.
  15. I remember seeing the box of that movie at Blockbuster when I was a kid growing up in VA. Anything that said "Buffalo" to me was exciting, and I instantly gravitated towards it. But I couldn't figure out what it was about for the life of me, and just ended up forgetting about it. Still have no idea what the hell it's about...if it has anything to do with the Bills, I may give it a watch
  16. Would've been nice if the idiot filming didn't turn the camera away every single time Allen threw the ball... Seriously, why did he show where everyone else threw, but when Allen had the ball he just turned and faced away? Dumb...
  17. Anyone could flip this list with using any other random metrics. 1. Turnout compared to W/L record 2. Merchandise sales compared to metro area average income 3. Fan away traveling numbers Or just throw out any other pointless ones... 1. Percentage of fans that know fight song! 2. Average DWI percentage leaving game 3. Percentage of team Hall of Famers average fan can recite.
  18. About #2... I've been reading the exact opposite when it comes to Peterman's football IQ. I guess if you're just referencing his ability to learn a playbook, he may be alright, but if you're referring to his ability to read a defense, that's usually one of his biggest knocks for as long as he's been playing. He tends to get easily confused, and hasn't ever been known to dissect defenses on the fly. He might understand the plays that we're running, but doesn't understand how to find the opponents' weakness on the fly. Going through his progressions and finding the most advantageous matchups has not been a strength of his. And it's unlikely that he'll suddenly get not only better at it, but actually "good" or "great" at it, at the highest professional level for the first time ever. Miracles can happen, but believing the Bills will be the team to finally solve is problems seems like a hell of a longshot considering our history with developing QB's (and our fanbase's desperation to finally have a franchise guy putting mounting pressure to see results now). I dunno, I read any & every article, breakdown, and analysis I can find on Allen as they come out, and outside of these forums & the typical fluff comments from coaches/players that come around every year, consensus is he is the riskiest QB in the class by far, and his stock is based purely on what he "might" be able to do if x, y & z fall into place, rather than what he actually DID do on the field, whether in HS or College.
  19. Like Ragland? Yeah, we didn't even give him a chance, then let him go for nothing.
  20. I wish I could read the article. The stupid background add ends up covering up the entire text on the page when it fully loads. But saying he wants to play with a QB he can grow with works. Granted, Goff is young too, and only on year 3, but Mahomes is known as more of a gunslinger, and Sammy probably is seeing an opportunity to be his go-to guy. It's clear he wasn't Goff's, as pretty much everyone got targeted more than him. But with Mahomes, there's a legit chance he can work his way into being Mahomes' security blanket and auto 1st look. If he builds that trust & confidence with him, he can safely assume he'll get plenty of looks a game and maybe have a shot to prove he really can be a top guy.
  21. If Peterman wins, it's just going to show how out of touch we as fans really are. The poll question is who do you think will win the starting job week 1, not who do we "want" to win the starting job. If 90% of us think Peterman won't start, that just shows we really don't know as much as we think we do (again, this is IF he is the starter like outlets are starting to suggest). 1. Very well could be true 2. Toolkit <<<< Football IQ/Ability to read a Defense 3. Wasn't Peterman as well?
  22. http://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/nfl/4-nfl-teams-that-won%e2%80%99t-make-it-back-to-the-playoffs-in-2018/ss-AAyVPvC?li=BBnb7Kz&ocid=iehp#image=5 4. Buffalo Bills "This shouldn't need much of an explanation. The Bills were one of only two teams to make the postseason with a negative point-differential, and the roster looks significantly worse on paper after the offseason. No matter who wins the Josh Allen-Nathan Peterman-AJ McCarron quarterback battle from hell, the Bills passing game will be a mess. The offensive line was picked apart in the offseason and the receiving corps leaves plenty to be desired. It's going to be all LeSean McCoy on offense in Buffalo. The defense, which played so well early in 2017, fell off a cliff in the second half and doesn't look any better heading into the next season. Forget about the playoffs, this team could be one of the worst in the league in 2018." Well, this about sums up what many of us already think. For me, this is a much shorter version of my own thoughts (I tend to go into long-winded, detailed rants). The only thing they got wrong was the defense part. If they understood our defensive problems mainly were due to the interior line being awful, they'd understand that at least on paper, that area has been significantly improve, which should definitely benefit everyone else. The one other thing the blurb mentioned - Nathan Peterman has a real chance to win the Bills' quarterback job https://wp.me/p14QSB-aDH7 5:32 AM - Jun 17, 2018 Nathan Peterman has a real chance to win the Bills’ quarterback job Bills quarterback Nathan Peterman looked absolutely terrible in his one and only start as a rookie last year, throwing five interceptions " He didn't start only one game...I won't get too onto them for not remembering that, as many Bills fans seem to forget that he started the game on Hoth as well. And if he somehow earns the starting job, he must've shown something really promising in training camp.
  23. Buy me a pint of Coors Lite and throw it in the face of the bartender, telling him not to carry such s*** for me!
