10/3/21 Gameday Bills vs. Texans 2nd Half Thread

Josh's big game hype level. First game of the season, Super Bowl darlings, him as an MVP favorite, fans back in the seats, etc. Given the way he played, he was too amped up & overly excited. It's probably his biggest weakness, but I can't blame him, I'd be amped up too. -

Coincidentally, that's also what the top pick is praying for... -

We're 4 games in & he hasn't suffered a concussion yet, so I'll take that as a minor miracle. -

We know Josh gets overly excited & amped up for big matchups. The Chiefs D could be ranked 32nd in the league in pass defense, and they'd still give us a hard time. DON'T JINX US! -

Rumor has it Brian Moorman's leg has officially retired after years of abuse. Moorman now walks around with a peg leg & likes to wear an eye patch to impress the ladies. -

Yeah, it's really fun watching garbage teams be able to keep up with a Super Bowl contender. -

It's amusing there are still people that think an open stadium is an advantage to Buffalo... Time & time again it hurts the Bills, but fans still want it that way. -
When Josh is beatified what will his handle be?

St. Josh the really big dude who looks even bigger in person -
Bills - 0 Texas - 70 Tyrod Taylor magically disappears from the IR list, manifests himself into the game via some kind of portal that appears on the field, then proceeds to go 10/10 on passes, for a total of 990 passing yards, 10 TD's. The Bills continually pin the Texas on their 1 yard line, only for Tyrod to heave miracle bombs, as from heaven itself, a full 99 yards in the air to WR's standing in the Bills endzone untouched. "Hail Mary" is an understatement, as the visage of Mary is seen guiding these receivers to the endzone, through defenders, and through time itself. With 1 second left, Tyrod looks at the statistician, gives a wink, and watches as his 990 yards turns into a perfectly round 1,000 yards passing. And just like that, Tyrod slowly begins to fade away into the sunlight, just as a fart drifting in the wind. Then Davis Mills trots into the game to kneel out the final second. Bills & Texans fans gather to hug, hold hands and sing praises of this miraculous day. Nobody ever hears from Tyrod ever again, but his name remains permanently etched on the IR list for all time.

Problem is no amount of revenue the Bills make will cover the expenses for the stadium. This has been proven time & time again with other, more highly valued, franchises. Nearly all the money goes to the owner, and the tax revenue generated doesn't ever get close to a fraction of what it cost to build the thing. And that's fine. I think the Bills are too important to the region anyway. Considering how much people pay in taxes towards things they get no value out of, might as well put some taxes towards something you actually do get to enjoy. I'd rather pay to keep an NFL team in town that I care about than many other things my taxes go towards.

Well Teddy Bridgewater is on pace for 4,600+ yards, 23 TD's, 0 interceptions & 17 wins, so beat that!

Bill Belichick. Greatest fraud in NFL history.

What's Phil Jackson's record without Kobe, Jordan, Pippen, Shaq, etc.? I dunno man, we saw in the Super Bowl vs the Giants what he's capable of, and the guy knows defense & knows how to scheme with the best of them. -
They weren't really frequent, his rookie year & his sophomore season he was rated worst or second worst in passes beyond 30 yards in the air (I believe it was 30). One of the weird problems he had was UNDER throwing them, though he had some over throws too. I agree with the OP about him never being a very accurate deep passer, at least not from the pocket. He seems to have better control while running for whatever reason, but hitting an open man in stride from the pocket causes him issue. I think the real reason is a combination of his height & arm strength. I have zero clue the size of other QB's, but when you see Josh throw some of those deep passes, you can just tell he doesn't have to put much effort into it. I feel like a lot of other QB's have a natural sweet spot, and when throwing deep, they know they have to use extra force & effort to get it on target. Josh on the other hand, he's already towering over the line, then has to choose between putting a little power behind it, or actually restraining himself. If he puts power behind it, will it just zip way past someone before they even get there? If he tries to hold back, does it float too much & require the receiver to stop his run to come back for it? I get that technically all QB's have to think about this, but when your arm can just fire one off 50+ yards at the flick of a wrist, you have a different set of issues. You can almost see when Allen is throwing deep that it's almost too easy. The balls he under throws seem more of him knowing "if I put any juice behind this, I might launch it into the scoreboard," and trying to adjust his own power down. It's hard to put into words, but maybe others have noticed it too. It just seems like he has the opposite problem that someone like Brady has. Brady can throw fairly deep if he HAS to (not like he used to) but after exerting a lot more effort. Josh could throw 40 yards and the ball won't even be hitting its arc. It's a weird problem to have, but it just feels like a big dude with a huge arm struggling to reel that in a bit.

I think it's a strategic thing. He's only getting busted for pot right? So basically when he wants to play & get some extra cash, he stops smoking for a bit. Then once he decides he's had enough of a team but doesn't want to go through the whole process, he tokes up, gets himself cut, and then is a free agent... left to pick whatever team he returns to when he finally decides he cares again lol He's a genius!
