  1. That is not going to stop many people and there are tons of surface lots
  2. Contrary to popular belief but there are plenty of lots to tailgate in downtown and there is a large portion of the fanbase with kids, older people, etc.. who would like more options before the game then just tailgating ranging from fan experiences, restaurants, you name it
  3. Right. Like he has 3 playoff appearances and helped take an 0-16 Lions team back to competitive most years which is a credit to him. But in 2013 and another time or two they could've won the division/made playoffs and instead choked when they were sitting in 1st place. I will defend him in the fact never once has Detroit IMO really spent on D the way the Jags did for years to build a true force. But yea he is that crappy middle ground of being not great but good enough.
  4. To me he is the definition of an average franchise QB. Given the spectrum of where a franchise QB can land from good to bad he is that mid point. He certainly can put up numbers, his body is prototypical for what'd you want, and with a well round org you can probably win some playoff games. But overtime I less and less have viewed him as elite or someone I fear. You can build with him for a decade which you want but you will need a solid foundation around to truly have success. Detroit rarely has given him that and he hasn't shown that ability to carry a team completely solo. Kinda like Drew Bledsoe back in the day just a worst roster and coaching staff.
  5. The NFL has a pretty perfect version of parity that other sports wish they could model. Trading cap in the NHL and NBA is plausible because the rosters are smaller so the impact is not as great. If you do that in the NFL it basically allows the best teams the same advantage as before while also allowing crappy owners like Mike Brown to cut costs even more for greater profit.
  6. Only reason I don't think it is the Jets would be I think we play them on TNF later in season. But dear god how fun would a BUF-NYJ MNF week 1 matchup in either city be to start the season. Third week of April. Was April 19th last year
  7. Actually in 2017 the Bills had 5 home games before Thanksgiving with four in first 8 weeks. Last year I agree was absolutely ridiculous with how the schedule was so away game heavy early on, but the same thing kinda happen in 2016 with the Bills having four home games from week 12 on only for 2017 to be more favorable. And in 2015 they actually had 5 home games in the first 8 games (9 weeks) plus the neutral ground London game. They years its good the Bills seem to get a very favorable lineup, but they years its bad it seems to be really bad. It would be nice to see a slight bit more of consistency with the schedule rather then drastic flips with how favorable it is or isnt.
  8. Few things because I cover the schedule stuff regularly. The NFL is pretty honest about trying to keep teams home one year and away the next. Unless you win the SB multiple years like NE has they are pretty consistent about swapping home and away every year. With that in mind the Bills were on the road in 2018 to open and they should be home this year to the point Id wager money they are. The last time the Bills opened back to back away was 2011-2012 Chiefs and Jets. But the NFL hadn't adjusted the scheduling the same as they have now with night games and other quirks. The Bills majority of the time open the season with an AFC team at with AFC East opponents being scheduled about 50% of the time in the last decade. The only time since 2010 Buffalo opened with an NFC team was in 2014 when the Bills defeated Chicago in OT. The last time the Bills opened at home against an NFC team was 2008 against Seattle and with the Bills playing the NFC East this year you can pretty much kiss any chance of a week 1 NFC opponent goodbye given how the NFL and networks prioritize that division for bigger matchups. For the Bills actual home opener itself they have been very division heavy with 2010 MIA, 2013 NE, 2014 MIA, 2016 NYJ, and 2017 NYJ. So with all of that said we know Buffalo will not host New England and the NFC East most likely. That leaves Miami, NYJ, Baltimore, Cincy, and Denver. My guess is Baltimore may be a Bills nightgame later in the season and the NFL will want them for a bigger matchup week 1 the same with the Jets being a bigger matchup. That leaves MIA, Cincy, and Denver. Cincy typically plays a divisional matchup week 1 as does Denver. My guess is it is the Dolphins given the AFC East rivalry, the fact Buffalo has not hosted Miami week 1 since 1992 (or 93 it was around then), and because of the NFLs 100th season it being something they can market. I could see a small chance perhaps Buffalo gets a 4:00pm Denver matchup, but I would be stunned.
  9. My rankings for Pats opener: 1. Cowboys- Americas team media blah blah its a gold mine move 2. Jets- With their moves and possible changing of the guard story line very easy sell 3. Steelers- They've had many battles recently and have played opening night before. But I could see CBS trying to keep it for a later in the year 4pm matchup 4. Chiefs/Browns- TV networks will protect these two pretty big for their 4pm spots 5. Bills- Outside chance given the Bills additions and in the media's eyes its probably a softball opener for the Pats, but with the teams above why would they honestly not try for one of those 6. Giants- Only way I see the Giants on is due to NY media market and somehow they get Kyler Murray who would re-add some star power with ODB gone. 7. Dolphins- This will be one of the few home games NE plays at 1:00pm
  10. Doubtful more 100th anniversary. That said I think the NFL should consider changing the schedule where week 1 the years prior SB winner get a night game but not always opening night. Truthfully some years the SNF or MNF game has better matchups.
  11. I understand being upset a little. Typically opening game is for previous SB champ which for 99% of everyone means its close to a once in a generation thing your team opens the season.
  12. Corta the schedule guy here and it's been officially confirmed Bears Packers are the opener Thursday night. Patriots will host SNF week 1 my guess is Cleveland but also Pittsburgh possible. NE media not happy but 100th season for Bears and 101st for Pack were important factors.
  13. Yea I wouldn't be fretting yet this is the time of the year they just want renewals. When I had seasons they only offered me to change seats/upgrade when I said I wasn't coming back and they called in early summer when I had the option to move to try to get me to renew.
  14. It was not a criticism that they do not have many 3-7 years players more a barometer for the group they are building long term.
  15. Yea I think people are underestimating how on the fence Zay is. He was decent last year, but after his drop in Miami he seemed to again regress like he did after the Carolina drop for a few games. If they actually drafted Metcalf or even a guy like Marquise Brown in the 2nd round I think Zay very much is a cut or trade candidate.
  16. If Poyer gives his number my wife is gonna be pissed given she has his jersey
  17. This has nothing to do with the Bills or FA but the plane. If I was rich billionaire like the Terry I would get a military jet to fly me around. Honestly what is more impressive for a potential FA the owner flying in on a G6 private jet OR flying in on a F-18 pimped up as all heck that can go Mach 5. You won't see one of those in the next rap video your buddies making.
  18. Unless they are running four wide I would expect the top 3 WR to be Foster, Brown, and Beasley
  19. So this week Peter King had a superb part in his column about how typically the most successful teams in football are made through the draft and how the guys drafted the previous 3-7 years should be the core you want moving forward. Non-surprisingly the most successful teams like the Eagles, Seahawks, Steelers, Patriots etc... have almost half their starters being guys in that window. Overall its a pretty big point in the NFL that being able to draft a strong team is the main key to success in the NFL. So using that as a barometer lets see how many of this years Bills starters are guy drafted: Offense: QB Josh Allen LT Dion Dawkins G Wyatt Teller Defense DE Shaq Lawson DT Harrison Phillips LB Tremaine Edmunds LB Matt Milano CB Tre White CB Levi Wallace/Taron Johnson (Figure Kevin Jackson takes either CB2 or Slot and one of these two take the other) Overall the Bills should have 9 true starters that were drafted by the team heading into the season. Depending on how the draft goes you could add that another starter if they add a DL/DE or WR/TE. The good news is the defense has at least two guys who are already at Pro Bowl caliber level playing with Milano and White, hopefully the offense can add Allen and another starter or two there for the long term. So how does this compare to lets say the Jets who are trying to rebuild and an established successful team like the Eagles: Jets 9 starters Offense: QB Darnold, WR Anderson, WR Enunwa, TE Tomlinson, OT Brandon Shell, G Brian Winters Defense: SS Jamal Adams, FS Marcus Maye, DE Nathan Shepherd Eagles 9 starters Offense: QB Wentz, WR Agholor, TE Zach Ertz, OG Issac Semulo, C Jason Kelce, RT Lane Johnson Defense: DT Brandon Graham, DT Fletcher Cox, CB Jalen Mills Overall things look pretty even before the upcoming draft. The Jets did not lose any drafted starters of significance, but the Eagles did lose Jordan Hicks who was a starting LB for them. The big difference between the Bills/Jets and the Eagles is the how established and good some of the Eagles starters are. Not only do the Eagles have Wentz who is a Pro Bowl caliber player but Ertz, Kelce, Johnson, Graham, and Cox are all super established good or great players. I think for the Bills and Jets to succeed, after hitting on their QBs they both will need to see some of the OL/DL guys become good starters and at least one skill position player like the Eagles have in Ertz become a great player. I hope this was a cool look at building a roster and I look forward to reading your comments.
  20. Idiot. Peter King had a superb part in his FMIA column this week highlighting how most of the best teams are built through their draft classes and the guys who were drafted 3 - 7 years earlier are the core for the team. The Giants from 2010-2016 have exactly one player now left that was drafted in the top 3 rounds after ODB and Collins leaving. By comparison Eagles and Seahawks two successful teams during the last decade each have 9 players out of 19 and 21 drafted. That is 9 starters per team, that is how you build your roster. Additionally the contract he gave is like a massive anvil to the rosters cap situation at this point. If I was a Giants fan I would be despondent because you should want ODB, Evan Engram, Collins, and Barkley as part of your core moving forward and adding a QB like Hawkins would give you a strong foundation for the next decade. Instead they nuked that and basically are an expansion team with a stud RB who now is a waste in a sense because you are 2-3 years before competing.
  21. Good recap. I am strongly encouraged after day 1 and want something like this today to really cement this FA class: 1 of each WR: Tate or Williams or Brown or Cobb OL: Daryl Williams or Safford (pipe dream I know) DE: Ansah or Brent Urban I think if the Bills somehow could get Williams or Tate I could see them trying for one of the Iowa TE's if they were to fall late in the 1st.
  22. I would also but given the WR market I think its more likely we get a guy like Humphries to go with Metcalf or Neal in the draft and Zay/Foster/McKenize
  23. Here are some names I would be happy to see as Bills: Daryl Williams Mitch Morse Adam Humphries Brent Urban
