  1. Both teams are aging with rosters near the end outside of AB & JuJu. Steelers are lucky Mayfield didn't play week 1 otherwise they'd be chasing Cleveland. NE I never bet against but Brady has went from god to really good mortal QB his end is near.
  2. This is the type of hot button threads I expect from fellow TBD members! lol But seriously yea perhaps have them drink hot chocolate or something instead haha
  3. Watching the Patriots/Steelers game it had the feel of two prizefighters who are on their last legs (finally). Don't get me wrong if I had the pick of the Patriots/Steelers or the rest of the AFC I may take those two, but overall it seems that the shroud of darkness from those two is at last nearing its end which is exciting. Consider this: Since 2001 12 of the 16 NFC teams have appeared in at least one Super Bowl with only the Lions, Vikings, Cowboys, & Redskins not making an appearance. By comparison their AFC brethren have seen just 5 of their 16 teams appear in the Super Bowl. The common theme obviously is Brady, Manning, & Big Ben and their dominance eliminated the field with ease. By the same token the NFC did have some great teams but it saw a greater spread of talent compared to what the AFC had with their big 3 (plus Rivers). McNabb, Eli, Rodgers, Wilson, Warner, Brees, Farve, Newton, and Ryan are all good to great QB's who have had their day in the sun and some still have more days. The AFC by comparison besides being dominated by those 4 just never had the talent at QB to even put up a decent fight for the majority of this time which is why it feels like a really exciting time if your fans of any of the other 14 AFC teams. The AFC looks to have a massive crop of young QB talent led by Mahomes, Luck, & Watson that hopefully are joined by the likes of Baker, Allen, Darnold, & Jackson which should hopefully bring some exciting fresh new blood and storylines finally to the table. I hope 15-16 years from now we can look back and see the AFC have 10-12 teams that got their chance in the Super Bowl and that Buffalo is one of those in the group.
  4. I wanted him on draft night and was visibly upset with my friends when we drafted Allen. Rosen was my guy and frankly I want him to do well. But as I said above his issues are not self inflicted and go right to his front office/coaching. No QB would survive that firing line of an OL and historically QB's hit this much and bad do not succeed. Plus Arizona in general is very directionless.
  5. Oh I am not disagreeing with you. Alex Smith for years was incredibly accurate yet he was a fringe Top 12 guy. Chad Pennington was accurate yet didn't have the arm especially after injury so accuracy is not everything. But Allen does miss 5-6 throws a game give or take, I want that down to 2-3 because it makes him more deadly. His floor already feels Taylor esq in terms of offensive production so that's good, but we are in it for his growth and potential.
  6. Well remember different era. Elway may have been 56% but for the time that was good. Allen needs to just get to 60-61% and that'll work. I wanted and actively have watched him hoping the best. The reasons for his demise are not self inflicted and very much situational. He has a rookie HC wayyy over his head whose' OC ran a very old dated scheme that was not updated for today and 4 of his 5 O- line man are out injured. The problem is unlike Allen or Watson who both have been hit in bunches early on, he doesn't have the ability to run and make plays. They basically need a new O-line, 2 WR's, new OC, new Head coach, and a lot of help on defense next season. That is a tall order and historically QB's like Rosen who get beaten like that ala David Carr have a low success rate. Doesn't mean he can't pull a Goff but he really needs a visionary mind at OC/HC given the issues they have. Kind of what made this fun to write is to see how close are far things are next year.
  7. With two weeks to go in the season we have a pretty good sample for all of the QB's in the big 5 of Mayfield, Darnold, Allen, Rosen, & Jackson. So after year 1 this is where I see each of these QB's pacing/turning into. Mind you things change rapidly so if Mayfield collapses into a black hole of awful play it can happen, this is just off the first season. Baker Mayfield- John Elway/Steve Young hybrid. With all due respect for Allen who is incredibly fun to watch, Mayfield is something else to watch at QB. From the moment he has taken over as the QB the Browns are 6-6 and he his been amazing to see make plays all over. His growth is certainly evident and his mobility strikes me as watching Young or Elway with his eyes always looking downfield to beat you along with a competitive fire that is infectious as all hell. Good for the long suffering fans of Cleveland and I hope he turns into a great like these two (just not at the expense of the Bills SB chances lol). Of any of these QB's becoming an all timer Baker after year 1 would be the easy bet. Sam Darnold- Tony Romo. Like Allen who had to miss time and comeback stronger Darnold has done exactly that. Rival or not Darnold certainly has had his moments and the last few games really has shown some great play. His propensity to make big plays but turn the ball over reminds me of Tony Romo who could do a ton and really had a good feel for the offense. He isn't a fiery leader like Mayfield/Allen but with some more talent around him he could make the Jets a contender for a decade. Josh Allen- Cam Newton + Brett Farve lite. The kid can ball, I was a Rosen guy admittedly but even I am have been impressed with his growth and talent. He has Cam's size and playmaking mixed with Farve's fire, arm, and just general ability to make you go are you kidding me. I don't think Allen will ever be the most accurate QB but he will improve enough to be a mix of these two. Farve is an all time great I don't know if Allen can hit that stratosphere at this point, but I think he will be really good like Newton who is successful and Farve was a QB you had to watch because of his ability to say holy sh*t how did he do that for both good and some bad. Josh Rosen- David Carr/Joey Harrington. The list of QB's who have succeeded after getting beat up the way he has and with such instability at coach/FO is not long. Situation matters big time for a QB and watching Rosen it just feels like a guy being thrown to the wolves and it's up to him to figure it out. What is most worrisome with Rosen is the fact his play has actually declined from the start of the season. He was never said to be the leader the previous three were and his best talents being quick release and accuracy are being wasted in this offense. Outside of a coach like Bruce Arains coming back or some other QB whisperer coming in with a fast west coast style attack I just do not see him making it. Lamar Jackson- Taller Doug Flutie + Steve McNair lite. He certainly is fun to watch and Baltimore is managing his first season perfectly so he can make plays but is not put in a bad situation. Watching him makes me think of what Doug Flutie could've been like if he was taller and I think his ceiling could be close to McNair who was a superb QB who could move but tear you up passing wise. I am not sure Jackson will be as accurate as a McNair but like Allen I think he can do enough where it doesn't really matter and your winning with a good QB. My major question with Jackson is what happens when he spied regularly and asked to throw more then 25 times in a game? Allen was faced with this question and did well against the Lions and against the Dolphins where he basically willed the team solo while throwing for 33 times. I would be very intrigued to see what a coach like Sean McVay or possible future coach like Lincoln Riley would do with a player like Jackson.
  8. More the downside of the team being 5-9. Poyer didn't come on until the back half of the season, Hauschka hasn't been as good compared to last year, and White getting beat 3x straight weeks especially Jets/Lions is not how you help your probowl candidacy as voting concludes. Truthfully only Kyle Williams belongs the rest I just think needed to be more consistent. Had Milano been healthy he deserved to go.
  9. I am with you. The first half of the season made I think even the biggest optimist which I kinda fall into questioned the overall plan a bit and had doubts about Allen. But the second half has seen true growth all over. The WR corp still needs help but Foster, Jones, & McKenzie have shown enough to be on the roster so a better #1WR would help them all into roles more fit. Croom looks awesome I wish they'd cut Clay for him. Like you said the defense is solid just keep it intact. Crossman should've been fired after the Jets game I expect his release. One thing that certainly helps the Bills next year is their schedule on paper looks not very daunting and the Patriots actually look to be human finally. At home they host rebuilding teams like Washington, Cincy, Denver, & Miami. Get those four win 2-3 of New England, Jets (they will be an issue trust me), Baltimore, and Philly your 6-2 7-1. That should be enough to get you to 10-11 wins especially with games at a rebuilding Giants team, Miami, and possibly Titans. Steelers and Cowboys will be tough but I do think they have the team to win there and to McD's credit the Bills have won big games on the road in places like KC, MIN, & ATL
  10. Agreed. With Tyrod I felt like him hitting 300 yds was kind of a true rarity. With Allen I keep looking thinking with a little more refinement and some better help he will have days he pushes near 400.
  11. The team did put in that policy saying if you did jump through a table and were caught you were booted so there is that. My belief is this is the 4th year now of Buffalo shenanigans in the parking lot and it's gotten routine. After a while the excitement wears off nationally (thank god) and the video submissions seem to have decreased. I will say that this year being such a poor season W/L wise certainly hurt the amount of people going and attention given. The last time the Bills were eliminated this fast from the playoffs (which truthfully felt like it mid season) was 2013. Otherwise the Bills have had solid playoff odds through November before falling apart (minus last year).
  12. This is Dallas home schedule I think LAR, GB or MIN is more likely: New York Giants Philadelphia Eagles Washington Redskins Green Bay Packers Minnesota Vikings Buffalo Bills Miami Dolphins Most likely LA Rams NFC West*
  13. Draft Position: After this weekend's win over the Lions the Bills fell down to 10th overall in the draft. The Bills are at least guaranteed a top-15 draft pick at this point. It is not impossible that the Bills could get back up to #5 although it would require a lot of luck by other teams losing wise. In my opinion I actually would rather draft around 9-14ish because with the way mock drafts are falling the Bills would be able to pick a WR without over drafting. If they are top 5 they truthfully need to pick BPA which would be defense. Schedule: Currently the Bills schedule is set with the team facing the AFC North and NFC East. The two games subject to change are their crossover games against the AFC South and AFC West which are based off of what place you finish in division. If the season ended today Buffalo would be at Tennessee and home against Denver. The Denver game is a lock at this point, but the Titans game could switch with the Colts depending on how those two finish the season. The Texans are impossible to face because they are at 10 wins and only one of the Colts or Titans can get to 10 wins. For those of you who like 1:00 pm games it is highly doubtful the Bills play any minus perhaps the Broncos home game with all of their away games eastern time zone minus Dallas which would be the only other game perhaps at 4:00pm. For those who care about primetime games the last time the Bills played this grouping of teams they played on MNF against NE, TNF against NYJ, and the London disaster against JAX. At this point I could see the Bills playing at the Browns getting on Thursday Night Football given Mayfield v. Allen is a nice selling point. If the Bills were to get a home game it would be MNF and my guess would be the Pats/Jets/Eagles given the market sizes they could tap, but I am pessimistic Buffalo get's more then one night game next season. The schedule looks like this: Home Miami Dolphins New England Patriots New York Jets Baltimore Ravens Cincinnati Bengals Philadelphia Eagles Washington Redskins AFC West* (Denver Broncos locked) Away Pittsburgh Steelers New England Patriots New York Jets New York Giants Miami Dolphins Cleveland Browns Dallas Cowboys AFC South* (Tennessee Titans as of week 15)
  14. This post lacks an incredible amount of insight and analysis. Rosen is playing with four OL out for the year in a system that does not take advantage of Rosen's greatest strengths. His top young WR who he had built chemistry with (Christian Kirk) is out for the season with injury. The Cardinals defense is near the bottom 3rd in the league, the Bills is second overall total yardage. Just about everything that could set a QB up for failure is present for Rosen. For as bad as the Bills offense has been, Arizona is 700 yards worse. Rosen certainly has his issues, but no QB is going to succeed in that environment and with the beating he has taken I would argue he already is behind in progress because that enforces bad habits which are hard to break. Say what you want about Beane and McD, but they smartly hired an OC who is trying to maxmize Allen's best qualities and give him time despite a pours O-Line. It took Beane some time but Foster and McKenzie have helped to give the offense some speed which Allen needed to progress. Rosen has none of that support outside of a good leader in Larry Fitzgerald who teams can double and that is that. I know fans hate hearing that situation matters for QB tremendously in determining their success but it is the truth. Their HC Wilks as it was is a defensive guy and he hired a retread OC in McCoy which expect-idly blew up in his face. If I was the AZ GM/HC I would've hired a progressive OC mind who would have used a West Coast style system that maximized Rosen's accuracy and quick decision making. If they keep Wilks I think Rosen is destined to fail. The Cardinals face a filled buyers market with far better situations for WR and OL FA's to sign with including Buffalo. They need to find an incredibly hot and progressive name to save this ship before the kid is killed.
  15. Of all of the FA's he actually is #1 on my board. There most likely will not be a great WR available and if Tate does come available it will be a crazy bidding war. Plus I think the draft in round 1 or 2 you can get an impact WR. Saffold would do well with Teller & Dawkins and your down to 2 holes on O-line which isn't nearly as bad. Dude this reality not Madden and if were in Madden are you playing on rookie because that would be an insane offseason lol But for real Daryl Williams has been mentioned and would be a solid RT pickup. Anthony Barr I'd like also and I could see.
  16. One of these two JAX Donte Moncrief, WR although I am still drafting a WR 1st or 2nd round LAC Tyrell Williams, WR One of these two LAR Rodger Saffold, G MIA Ja'Wuan James, OT + ATL Tevin Coleman, RB (Pair him with McCoy and Murphy dump Ivory) PHI Brandon Graham, DE Ryan Fitzpatrick, QB (Backup) Something like this I'd be happy.
  17. Allen certainly has had his moments and seems to have already progressed from completely raw rookie to rookie with some things figured out and a lot of room to grow. But that is not a precusor or guarantee either. QB's in the NFL need 2 years to gave a true judgement unless they tirefire out the way EJ did. I would not say that Rosen has been a tirefire he just hasn't been good and is in a pretty poor situation. I don't disagree that Cards fans are probably gritting their teeth a little, but that offensive line is a firing squad for the QB and they don't scheme to give him a chance. The Bills offense is not much more talented but at least Daboll tries to put his guy in a position to have a chance a lot. That is not being done in AZ.
  18. Today's society is beyond impatient and this ^ is spot on. After the first 5 games of Allen people said he was a bust now they say he is progressing nicely and could be a real home run. The truth is judging players take time and you will not see instant gratification with many guys. The last two offseasons people said Goff was a bust and Trubisky was toast. Goff has turned into a very strong starter and Trubisky looks competent to be a potentially good starter for a decade.
  19. The other thing is this offseason Arizona is going to be competing against BUF/NYJ for line help and weapons. If you are a free agent do you want to play with the guy who was killed all season in the desert that has virtually no weapons or go to BUF/NYJ where both have young QB's that have shown some real promise at points that have some pieces on offense that you can join not be the only piece. If I was a Cards fan I would be incredibly worried. BUF/NYJ could both mimic the Rams/Bears given each have a bit to work with on offense, I would not have much faith with the GM issues, coach uncertainty, and overall lack of talent across the board that my team can fix that much.
  20. Oh def not denying he has been thrown to the slaughter which is also why I would have some buyers remorse if I was AZ. QB's get ruined getting hit that much and you need to have a pretty progressive scheme to make up for line deficiencies if your QB is to have any hope. Zona has neither there whereas at least Daboll tries to scheme despite his issues which has bought Allen time at points. The other thing is Allen is big you know what size wise and can take hits more then Rosen who has shown some injury issues in the past. Still a ton of time for Rosen and a lot can change over an offseason, but that looks like a really bad fit unless they switch coach and OC this offseason because he will die again next year.
  21. Agreed with this. Rosen has yet to have a breakout moment and is in by far the worst support system of all of them. Every other QB I could list a game or two (if not more) where they lit it up for a bit or elevated their play where they dominated, I haven't seen that from Josh and I wanted him. Part of the problem is their offensive scheme was garbage and even with Larry they lack playmakers minus Christian Kirk who is injured or David Johnson who is improperly used. Rosen is going to lose Fitzgerald possibly this offseason and if they do not fire the coach I don't have much faith he will amount to much.
  22. Truthfully the Lions are their own level of ineptitude and awfulness. Consider this: The Lions have won a single playoff game since 1957. Literally one game. One. By comparison every single team in the NFL has won at least two games since 1988 including expansion teams like the Titans, Jaguars, and Panthers People like to throw the Browns into the conversation but remember the Browns from the 1960s-1980s were one of the NFLs premiere teams despite not have a SB ring. They went to three AFC title games in the mid 1980's and prior to the year of moving made the playoffs and actually beat the Patriots of all teams with Belichek really throwing off the cosmos They have hosted exactly two home playoff games since 1957 with their last being in 1993. By comparison even the lowly Arizona Cardinals hosted more home games in their two years of playoff appearances with Kurt Warner then the Lions. Literally the best RB of his time retired in his prime because of their ineptitude in an era where football was exploding with money for players. A decade later one of the best WR's ever did the same despite every luxury available to players. I can't even think of a team that has had one player example retire like this let alone two If the Browns beat the Lions to hosting a playoff game first they will have literally moved, came back, and hosted a game before Detroit The Matt Stafford "era" is actually the second most successful since the SB era began. Only the 1990's period saw more playoff games and success. The Lions are one of four teams to never appear in a SB (Browns, Jaguars, & Texans). Of those two are expansion teams and technically Cleveland's original franchise now the Ravens have won two Superbowls The Lions have exactly six players who have made the HOF post merger era. One of those is DT Curley Culpy who played exactly two seasons with the Lions (1980-81). The Browns are close with just eight players in but remember the move completely sabotaged their history and teams future for a decade plus. They have had three different stretches of playoff droughts lasting over 10 years Those are just the big stats that most diehard Lions/NFL fans can tell you. The team truly is an insane picture of mediocrity. Even the Arizona Cardinals who are actually their closest competition for being awful have managed to right the ship for the past decade and make a SB plus play in an NFC title game. My understanding from Lions fans is the Ford family is very hands on but weirdly cheap when it comes to spending at points. Their finger prints are all over the issues the team has had and only the recent take over by Martha Ford and appointment of Bob Quinn as GM has represented some true changing of the deck. The Lions every year with Stafford just seem like a team that's 60% built but always have leaks springing and not enough talent to compensate. The Bills seem in a different stratosphere after reading this.
  23. I have a buddy who is a big Vikings fan and said talk has already started of cutting him in two seasons because his cap drops. I thought it was kind of nuts but after watching last night I get it. The guy is like Matt Stafford 2.0 great stats but come clutch time he cannot do enough.
  24. Probably and the Raiders did end up going ahead 26-17 which with the way that game went felt like a million pounds all at once.
