Way to ignore Jeff Tuel

If you dont have Josh Mahomes Lamar or Burrow the ability for sustained success is quite difficult year in year out. From a purely macro view I illustrated over a decade period they had at most 8-9 equals or better in terms of regular season winning and accomplishments. I get everyone in todays world is SB or bust, but winning consistently does matter a lot because eventually things swing your way. KC pre Mahomes from 2010-2017 won 3 division crowns & made the playoffs five of the eight seasons up to 2018... but had just one playoff win. People viewed them as a pretty good team that was successful but lacked a QB (sorry Alex Smith) to get them to that next level. Part of that was because they would lose to teams with better QBs come playoff time. Dallas isn't much different, Dak is a solid QB but no one is confusing him for being top 5 in the league and if they are thank the media for that. The basic premise of being a good team should be consistent success over a long period of time. Over the last decade Dallas has demonstrated that to level greater then SF, but everyone just looks at the SB piece. Dallas has probably done more right then wrong, but yes their owner interferes because of his ego and the QB is not a world beater either so like every team not running Josh or Mahomes out there they are flawed and need luck come playoff time. Truthfully the best organization in football is the Eagles because they have been winning for decades with Lurie and throwing good QBs, bad QBs, various head coaches etc.. no matter they draft well, invest in their roster, constantly try for good coaches, and most importantly the owner writes checks but otherwise stays the heck out of it. There is 100% a major truth if Jerry Jones would shutup and just write the checks the Cowboys would probably have made a SB or two by now.

Yep. A nice Saturday or Sunday where you get the yard work done then football time and it is warm enough to leave the windows open where the cool air feels good as the sun fades is elite as hell. November football also the stakes are super high across the board and many teams both NFL/CFB are fighting for their lives.

There is something about those Sundays in November in the Northeast once daylight savings hits that is slightly comforting but also a bummer because you know winter is coming.

So here is the thing. Daniel Jones best season came (and he was pretty decent) with Barkley in the backfield. If you are going to pay Jones the money you might as well pay the guy who helped him get to that point also. Maybe Jones would have developed more from there too where Barkley was a little more expendable, but to me it was foolish all the way around. Either go in on the experiment which paid off with both doing well or just reset the deck completely. They picked the middle (which many teams do) and wasted time and years they could've been building a nice base. It is legitimately wild that a franchise that has had Fouts, Brees, Rivers, & now Herbert who is good... saw their only SB appearance with Stan freaking Humphries. There has to be some weird curse where they are allowed success and good QBs that teams would kill for... but no post season glorly lol

He reminds me of Herbert. Regular season puts up some great numbers and makes you go "hey he really could be a threat" ... and then the post season comes and he is trash and you go "oh yea nevermind".

Not a complete sleeper but Eric Wood got a raw deal health wise. With Josh taking over he would've rightfully earned more pro bowls and been looked at league wide as a one of the top centers in the league. Center is a position where guys get better older and reputations build. Right as he was moving into that time it ended which was really unfortunate. Robert Woods I think was completely undervalued by the team and you saw once he had a QB the guy could ball quite well. Not necessarily underrated by the fans or league, but the Bills entered the NFL draft with Woods & Goodwin and instead of staying when they already had quality WR's and drafting BPA cough cough Mike Evans they wasted draft picks. Sorry rant over, Bobby Woods never got his due from this org Highlight man of the 2010 home opener!

Listen this is a team where it is SB or bust and that goes for a few teams like BAL PHI LAR KC, so your talking about very specific needs to move the needle even more. The easy candidates for guys to breakout would be Coleman & Bishop. Coleman turning into a quality #2 would help diversify the offense more and Bishop becoming an impact safety would really help to solidify the back end as the CBs figure out CB2/CB4. The real way the team gets just a bit sharper is someone on offense like Kincaid or Coleman or Palmer becoming a true stud not just solid player and/or the defense seeing a young guy or two like Landon Jackson, Sanders, or Hariston come in and not only take a spot but have the impact (Tre White style) while the D line vets have the gas to turn it on when it matters. On offense even if Kincaid or Coleman does do that they still are a top 5 unit and with Josh so the impact is not as pronounced. BUT for the defense you honestly need that type of impact player to emerge and they have not had that in a bit (with respect to Bernard who was good the last two years). The Eagles when they revamped the defense last year it was a mix of vets and youth all emerging and elevating at once that turned the unit into a real force. For the Bills the equivalent is Bosa/Larry Ogunjobi as vets being a force and Jackson/Hariston coming into their own all at once.

Yep and predicting rookie success at QB is legit... throwing Darts lol But seriously I thought Williams was actually pretty decent but the team was awful. But Daniels looks early on like the gem of this class.

While no one expected those teams a few things at least made it more possible then NY: 1. Rookie QBs: The greatest unknown and greatest hope of the NFL is a rookie QB. Nix played well enough to be a solid starter and help end their playoff drought. Daniels already might be Top 3 QB in the NFC. That is the greatest game changer in existence. 2. Stacked Defense or Offense: Denver has had a great defense for years and finally got an offense that wasn't dog sh*t so the jump happened more understandably. Denver reminded me a bit of Bills 2019. Minnesota skill position group is possibly the best in the NFL and at minimum top 5. Darnold had shown some flashes before and took over an offense which if you could be decent could go toe to toe with anyone given the skill group (plus O'Connell is an insanely good coach). 3. Schedule: Denver won the games they were supposed to but their only win over a playoff team was Tampa (KC rested week 18 that doesnt count). Minnesota did actually have some really good wins, but they still also got Vegas, NYG, IND, TEN, JAX, & the Jets. Again not exactly murders row. Washington? Same thing. NYG 2x, CLE, CAR, TEN, & NOLA. They did beat the Eagles and CIN on the road too for some quality wins. I am with you the Giants are a 6-7 win team given the lack of talent and schedule. Maybe Dart jumpstarts into Nix 2.0 as his legs and arm have potential. That is the one unknown that maybe inspires more hope than anything else if your a Giants fan. Maybe the defense has a top 5 year and gets the turnover luck where the offense can stay within itself. There are scenarios and you do get teams out of the blue yearly like you said. The problem is the G-Man aren't getting the schedule you would like, they offense is bottom 3 and still lukewarm after Nabers, and the defense was middling by every stat. It just doesn't scream possible darkhorse at this time.

I think their draft was good. But the talk is they are substantially better when truthfully they have no QB answer, the offense still is lukewarm talent wise, and they play in a division where they are decidedly the worst team. Even if their defense becomes a top 10 unit and the offense grows a bit are they really winning more than 6-7 games tops? Besides their own division they play KC, SF, LAC, DEN, GB, & DET; plus MIN & CHI feel like better rosters to pick who they also play. I just don't see this team between talent and schedule as really moving the needle. They need another year of draft, either Dart to develop OR a QB to establish OR draft a QB round 1 than, and the division to weaken somehow.

The NFL reallllllyyy wants the Giants to be good or decent this year. I have already seen the national pundits saying the Giants had a great draft and "could be a sleeper team" blah blah blah. They will win 5-6 games and Daboll will get fired.

Sure but how much less attention without Jurah would they get? 5 primetime games for a team that is consistently pretty strong in the regular season & a large national fanbase seems fair. Without Jurah the media would certainly be less and once he is gone it will be interesting as his son Stephen is far less vocal by comparison. Jurah is a Rex Ryan level attention getter without a doubt

Agreed. Tampa Bay got a SB in this last decade so their fans are happier, but literally pre Brady they did not matter in the league universe whereas Dallas over the same time span was a pretty solid consistent team. They seem to be a team that drafts pretty well and at times adds talent although it is questionable some moves they make. It is the last part of the boring time of football so it was an interesting case study when you compare the teams around them in playoff appearances. Seattle is the closest comparable and I think Dallas has been a more competitive team over the last decade then Seattle.

Sure but my point is over the last decade they are clearly a top 10 team they just haven't had any playoff success. Pre 2016 I would agree. But the last decade the numbers show they've been in the top 10 for wins, playoff appearances, and division crowns. Come playoff time they just can't do a thing. A team being in the top 1/3 of the NFL is not mediocre.

A lot was made during the schedule release that Dallas is on primetime too much and more so they are not good enough to deserve the attention. There is no doubt that the team is overexposed which is intentional because of Jerry Jones. The dude may be annoying as hell, but he is brand wizard which I do respect him for. With that said I love seeing Dallas with egg on their face so I take a certain satisfaction in their primetime losses (Ayooo 2019 Bills baby!).This did get me thinking though how has Dallas done comparatively over the last decade and are they really overrated or just ringlessly successful. Welp I spent at least 11 minutes and got the following to discuss: Over the past decade Dallas has... -Won four division crowns -Made the playoffs six of the ten years. -Three of their playoff losses were in the divisional round including 2016 which Dallas was the 1 seed only to be upset by Rodgers and the Pack last second on a FG -Overall record of 93-71 good enough for a 56% win rate -.500 or better in seven of ten seasons -In 2020 and 2024 Dak was hurt. In 2020 when Dak got hurt for the season their offense was averaging 26.9 ppg, last year Dak never was fully healthy -They have had star players over that time including Dak, Zeke, Micah Parsons, Cede Lamb, Dez Bryant, Amari Cooper, DeMarcus Lawrence etc.. Of the 32 NFL teams only the following have won more division crowns: KC, Buffalo, New England, Minnesota, & Houston And the following teams have won four division crowns: Baltimore, Green Bay, LA Rams, Philly, & Tampa The following teams have six or more playoffs appearances: KC, Buffalo, Baltimore, Green Bay, LA Rams, New England, Pittsburgh, Philly, & Seattle (Dallas & Seattle are the only two teams of the ten with six playoffs appearances or more to not have made a title game in the last decade.) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Looking all of this over Dallas has been a top 10 team in the league for the last decade, its the non-surprisingly playoffs where any real success has eluded them. Tampa has a SB and four division crowns, but was not a good franchise until Brady arrived in 2020. By comparison Dallas was a more consistent yearly winner both in record and division crowns. Seattle has been more of a wildcard team in this time as their last division crown was 2020 and before that 2016. Five of the Cowboys playoff losses were one score losses which they had their chances in and for one reason or another couldn't breakthrough. The 49ers have 5 primetime games this year and over the last decade have been a far lessor regular season team with only four playoff appearances in that time. But the 49ers have made two Super Bowls and three NFC title games during that stretch again absolving them of similar criticism. The coverage of the Cowboys given the brand and market certainly can feel overblown and probably is to some extent, but the brass numbers paint a pretty successful franchise that networks can count on for solid games year in year out which is part of why they are included so frequently. Truthfully if you think it is annoying now, had Dallas broken through during this time and made a SB it would probably be even worse (if that is even possible). At the same time Dallas run and inability to breakthrough does beg the question have they wasted a major window and if they fade will the coverage still be the same. Again for you all to decide haha

been a real man of the people Because he was part of replacing Poyer/Hyde combo. On my list of issues on the defense last year the safeties were not nearly as high as CB2 CB4 and the D line. Rapp I thought was really solid and Hamlin was serviceable. We just had such high level play that anyone after that is even a step down doesn't match. I am fine with the safeties being Rapp/Bishop for a few years.
