They're running back what was the best team in the league for a pretty long stretch of the season last year.
-
Interesting discussion on the thread. Clearly, for some fans, a SB is the only thing that puts a GM among the best. Which is fair. I just remember 20+ years of GM's here who couldn't get this team above .500. And I see other teams around the league - even teams we perceive as being pretty good - being run pretty poorly. There are things Beane can't control, but overall, I think he gives us a better chance to contend than most.

We've got a nice once coming back. And that guy also made Groot, Epenesa, Oliver & the rest look a LOT better.
-
The stars aligned at the right time for the Chiefs. It doesn't mean they're a better team than the Bills. The better team doesn't ALWAYS win the SB. NFL history has taught us that. A lot is getting hot at the right time, and getting some breaks.
-
I'd question that list. We beat the Chiefs. I think we'd beat the Eagles and Niners.
-
Well, I did get the vomit emoji. Good call.

I mean, to answer the bolded "in general" - I'd challenge anyone to name 3-4 teams that are actually better than the Bills right now. That's better than run of the mill. And as far as this offseason, I expected almost nothing, given our cap situation. If he signs a LB w/ what we have left - we basically go into the draft without any real "needs."
-
What he has done so far is like a magic trick. This team was WAY over cap just a week ago. Yes, a lot of contracts were set up to restructure. But we've signed a speedy receiver, a solid starter at guard and re-signed Poyer. We didn't overpay for Edmunds, and still have some space to bring in a LB, a RB, or possibly both. We have also retained key role players like Dane Jackson, Martin and Dodson. Personally, I'm much more optimistic about 2023 than I was just a few weeks ago. And we still have the draft ahead of us. He DOES need to nail this draft, but I'm just feeling good about the whole deal. It's good to have a capable GM. They're not plentiful in this league, and at worst, everything Beane does is well thought-out, and in line w/ a true vision for what this team needs to be.

For the first couple of months of the season - we were the best team in the league. I don't mind running that back. Sure, other teams are improving - but if Miller can make it back close to full strength, and we have Hyde & Poyer, and a new defensive philosophy overall? Add in a RB, another WR and possibly a TE, and an improved O-line? Yeah. Giddy up.

Kind of the same guy as Meyers - but without having any chemistry established w/ Jones. Good move though.
-
I think that's the one w/ Marlee Matlin - saw it years ago & remember being a bit mind blown. Might have to watch that again.

As long as we're talking about weirdness - I just read a book about what I heard is becoming a more accepted theory in science: nothing really exists. Everything is just energy, and until we actually observe something, it's not really there. It makes me feel a little better about the 13 seconds game.

If we got Wagner or David, we'd really go into the draft with no super-pressing needs. Kind of a nice luxury. Obviously, we'd still like to see some starting-caliber players from the draft on the O line & elsewhere, but there wouldn't be anything crucial.

Poyer & Hyde still have a chance to win a SB together. Chills.

I was 100% sure he was gone. This is kind of amazing.

I think the opposite. We always have posters on here who think they know more than everyone, and are sure that this player or that player is going to be a miss - even though they know very little about that player. Why not look at a signing like this in a positive way? I can pretty much guarantee that Beane and his braintrust have pored over film of this guy, done the pros & cons analysis, looked at the upside, and made a sound decision. Like all GM decisions in the NFL, some work out, and some don't. But the negative comments on here are what I find hilarious. I don't know the guy - but this signing is the worst! I mean, huh? Allen is the greatest example. THAT thread from draft day is actually fun to revisit. This isn't a big enough signing to warrant a "bust" label if Harty doesn't work out. But I think he'll excel w/ Allen - we needed speed, we needed separation, we needed good hands.
-
I've been late to plenty of parties, too.
-
Has he played w/ an elite QB? I'm excited to see what he does w/ Allen. I keep reading that he has elite separation skills, and is also good at forcing missed tackles. We do not have anyone on the roster who can stretch the field, and he fits that bill. I can see Allen bringing out the best in him, and a few deep balls where Harty is 10 yards past the defender....

Well, since you're asking - I doubt it. I watch a lot of stuff on Near-Death experiences, which I do believe in. It sounds like a different level of consciousness, and there really isn't a concept of "time" as we know it. I think contemplating it from our more "earthly" perspective can be daunting, but I don't think it's along the lines of needing some good books to read to pass the time, or anything like that.
