WR really isn't a pressing need this year, but it's not because of Marquez Stevenson. I actually agree that our WR corps will be better this year than last, but it's really because Davis is better than Sanders and Crowder/McKenzie will be better than the hobbled Beasley from last year. After that it's just depth. I think Stevenson will be our permanent returner and our 6th spot is Touchdown Jesus. Maybe Hodgins impresses and creates that 7th spot. This year isn't the worry for WR... at least in my eyes. The future is the worry. Next season (2023) we will have our current number 1 and number 2 WRs in the final years of their contracts. Now, we clearly keep 1 somehow, but will we be able to keep both? And if we can't, do we trade either Diggs or Davis next offseason? For me, this is why I would be happy if we got Jameson Williams and just put him on PUP to start the year. I won't be remotely surprised or upset if we go CB in the 1st and RB in the 2nd. But we're still drafting a WR at some point. And in this draft class by all accounts you can get a significant contributor at WR on day 3 of this draft. All this is to say that Stevenson is really going to be fighting for a roster spot.

Off Topic guess Lamar’s new contract
transplantbillsfan replied to 78thealltimegreat's topic in The Stadium Wall
Sorry, but it's insane that Lamar is going to get money significantly greater than Josh Allen or Patrick Mahomes. I don't think Lamar is going to be out of the league in the next few years, but I really think that MVP season he had will be an outlier for his career. And I don't think he lasts even 10 more years in the league as a high level starter. But please Baltimore... be stupid and pay him that Watson $230 million guaranteed. Just insane.... -

So who would you change our round 2 pick to? -
Gunner's 2022 Mock Draft (v3 and FINAL - p.17!!)
transplantbillsfan replied to GunnerBill's topic in The Stadium Wall
@GunnerBill would you still predict a Guard in round 2? Love your 1st pick. Now that we brought Bates back and with the addition of Saffold and bringing Boettget OL is no longer really a need. Sucks Breece Hall would be drafted 2 picks before our 2nd round pick in your version. WE NEED A CORNER!!! -
The Buffalo Bills are the best team in the NFL

Gigantic void at CB right now -
Bills match Bears Offer Sheet for Ryan Bates, 4 yr deal
transplantbillsfan replied to nato7412's topic in The Stadium Wall
This is fantastic news. First of all, our OL is SET for this year!!! Second of all, our OL has 3 out of 5 positions SET for years to come!!! If you develop a player like Bates, you don't just let him go. Glad Beane did this. We'll have to find a replacement for Saffold next year and Morse a couple years down the line, but I think this is fantastic! -
Respectfully, it seems you're conflating Cosell's statement that Moore will ultimately be more of a slot guy in the NFL (which we need) with your own notion that he's not high on him. I don't think he's his #1 WR... but anyone can feel free to start listening at 9 minutes in to see if I'm crazy. I would note that his emphasis on Moore's "competitive toughness" is pretty huge for a slot WR.

This can be merged to another thread if a mod wants, but with his overall expertise I thought his insights were interesting, especially since I don't watch ANY college football. My biggest takeaways: Really high on George Pickens (like REALLY high) and Skyy Moore Not really high on Drake London... compared him to Marcus Colston and said all the Wide Receivers he's being compared with (Mike Evans, Mike Williams, Michael Pittman) were better prospects. Deep WR class. Can find a "starter" (in today's NFL... meaning top 3 guy for your roster) in round 4. As far as scheme fit for Buffalo he named Jameson Williams and Jahon Dotson as 2 players he'd like in Buffalo’s offense assuming it doesn't change much. CB in the 1st and Dotson in the 2nd? I don't know if he'll be available there because I've seen reports of him as a 1st round prospect, but he seems more likely to fall there than Williams. Dotson's pro day was yesterday but I don't think Beane was in attendance... though that doesn't mean much. Apparently it went well and he's excellent tracking the deep ball.

Let’s not act like Tua is some scrub
transplantbillsfan replied to bubba2018's topic in The Stadium Wall
He's a scrub based on expectations and where he was drafted. Yeah... maybe his numbers improve a bit, but Buffalo has OWNED Miami with Josh Allen at the helm. So maybe we don't beat em by a total score of 61-11 in 2022... I still think we'll go 2-0 against them. -
It just seems weird if we let Bates walk. He's been a true developmental guy for Buffalo and it seems like he's finally developed into a solid starting OL. I wonder if the other teams want him to play Center, which he's expressed a desire to play long term. The money at Center is better, too. As much as people seem to be ragging on posters complaining about the prospect of losing him, I think losing Bates would be a pretty significant loss for this team. Plus... Cody Ford... YIKES!!!

First of all, it's amazing that you're immediate response is solely to the relatively distant hypothetical tangent in the OP rather than just acknowledging what you acknowledge here. Second of all, CB is a pretty obvious depth need even IF we were to add Haden. And why the F did Joe Haden become the centerpiece of this conversation? If I asked you to bet $100 on us getting him right now, would you?
-
I am asking this question primarily because I see a GAPING hole at CB right now. Plus though we all hope Tredavious White will be back and ready to play in prime form in September... you've gotta be prepared if he's not. That leaves our #1 and #2 CB position in question. Even if we went out and got Joe Haden right now, I think we're still in dire straights at CB. I won't be upset with WR or even Breece Hall in the 1st... but I'd be shocked unless something happens...

Bills 2022 Draft picks are set. 👀
transplantbillsfan replied to SlimShady'sSpaceForce's topic in The Stadium Wall
Set? There's more than a month before the draft... how are they set? You saying Beane is now unable to make a trade? -
I hope you're right. But as of this moment, that's a gaping hole.
-
Don't we pretty much have to draft a CB in the first couple rounds if not in round 1? Seems that's a pretty gaping hole for us right now.
-
I would be completely happy with this
-
When? Is the OP proposing we draft him in the 1st? Right now Hall is projected mid to late 2nd round. I think the projected actual pick is about 62. If we can get him at 57 and he gives us 4 years where he turns into Jonathan Taylor (who was a 2nd round pick), what's the problem? I think based on the fact that Singletary is now going into the final year of his rookie deal this year, Moss SUCKED last season, and we were screwed over by Mckissic, we pretty much have to draft an RB in the first 3 rounds. From what I've read about and seen of Hall... I like him as our target. CB in round 1. Hall in round 2. Sounds good to me.
-
How about both? Honestly this team at this point only has 2 glaring holes... well... maybe 3: CB2, WR depth (that might be your answer), and RB We have 9 picks in this draft, right? Are there 9 spots for rookies on this roster? Heck, are there even 5 or 6? I want to see Beane target 2 or 3 players (CB, WR, RB) and trade up to get them when he feels he should. Truthfully in terms of NEED I think the order goes CB then RB then WR. But I will be happy with those 3 in any order in our first 3 rounds. I forgot we also need to draft a QB if we don't get one in FA... so there's that.
