  1. This weird cult of people calling for more offensive firepower after two of the best offensive displays in history are fit for a straight jacket. Of course, if we start the year with only 2 WRs on the roster we will need to get more, but it was not a need this year at all. We could have had Jerry Rice in his prime int he slot and we still lose.
  2. That's exactly what it was. They had 3 plays to get one stop and failed. It's not like the coaches called a punt block formation. They failed to make a single stop.
  3. When did we not score Sunday because of our lack of receiving talent?
  4. Because that's what everyone thought as the Bills gave up a tying FG with 13 seconds left on the clock or let Mahomes drive the field for the win in OT. "If only we had a better receiver!"
  5. People are saying Mahomes is better because he has an MVP, a SB Championship, a SB MVP 4 straight AFCG, 2 SB appearances and because he never failed to make the play he needed to make. Just because he needed to make less of them than Allen, doesn't make him a lesser talent. A great pool player at a bar will dazzle you with the incredible shots they can make. A world champion will put you to sleep as they shoot balls straight in the pocket every shot, because everything is where it needs to be all the time. This is not to the detriment of Allen - he did absolutely nothing wrong. He was perfect. So was Mahomes, and he's been perfect since he came into the league whenever he's needed to be.
  6. He can still refine his deep ball accuracy to hit guys in stride more often. We left some big plays on the field this year because guys had to adjust to the ball. He does an excellent job of it on the intermediate stuff. The only other big thing would be touch on shorter passes to try to limit drops and improve YAC.
  7. No doubt, but top end talent is what wins in this league when the chips are down. Frank Clark played great against Allen - better than any of our guys did against Mahomes. That kind of thing is the difference. Depth gets you to the games that matter.
  8. This sounds like the kind of thing a person would say who's never actually worked anywhere. His team just played maybe the greatest game in NFL history. If you get fired after that, your boss deserves to lose everything.
  9. He said they don't need to be. There are countless players in the hall without rings. I don't think anyone would deny it's the biggest benefit.
  10. I don't like him as a person, but cutting him is strictly a football move. He's in decline and doesnt justify his cap space. His contract was designed for the bills to cut him this year, and I fully expect them to.
  11. I could write it in crayon if that helps. Just because I list players that had hall of fame statistic trajectories before injuries took their toll doesn't mean I think they are the same caliber of player as Allen. They aren't. You can compare similar situations without all things being equal. If Matt Stafford plays another 4 years at the same level he'll beat out Rivers and likely go to the Hall as well.
  12. I cut Ford, Felicano and WIlliams - saves like $9M IIRC. Cut Beasley to save another $7m If you can find a cheaper replacement for Morse, I look at that. Moss is also a goner In the draft give me big men (OG/DT) and defensive players with big play ability. We should be able to replace our expensive rotational players with players on rookie deals to save money for superstars Bring in a vet for the slot, let Hodgins and first year players battle it out for the 4-6 WR spots. Bring in a reliable #2 TE If McKenzie can be had cheap, you can sign him if you want. Then I spend all the leftover money finding guys on the defense that can get to the QB. There's about 4 rental/2 year level guys out there. Go get one or two. If the FO feels they can swing a trade for an elite pass rusher - go do it, but I don't know who is getable that would be worth it. I make a run at Larry Ogunjobi, resign Phillips to a bridge deal, upgrade #2 CB, put more weight on Epenesa and take some off Basham.
  13. Alright. I'll explain it to you like you're a child. The message here is that injuries can derail careers. Bulger wasn't an all-time elite guy, but his career was derailed by injury before it ever really got going. He had 4 great years of production and after that he was done. If he played 15 at his pace, he would have finished with top 10 numbers. Luck could have been one of the all-time greats but injuries robbed him of that, and Tony Romo while not in that upper most echelon of guys, was easily a match for some guys that are in or will be in the hall like Esiason and Eli. Allen has a long road in front of him, and if he stays healthy, he'll get there, but he has two years of great production under his belt. It takes a lot more than that to get into the Hall.
  14. No, I sure didn't. Take a breath and re-read the post with context.
  15. Should he have taken targets away from Davis?
  16. Does Andrew Luck? Tony Romo? Marc Bulger? ***** happens.
  17. He definitely didn't. They went blow for blow and the former MVP, SB Champion, SB MVP and 1rst Team all-pro came out on top.
  18. The Chiefs D line is far better than ours and it's not close. We don't have a Chris Jones or a Frank Clark. That should be obvious.
  19. This collection of takes is awful and wrong at nearly every level.
  20. Im hoping that somehow Cinci can beat KC so we don't hear about this game ever again. That's not going to happen though, so it'll be at least 30 years.
  21. So give McD 20 years to get one just like Reid. Then we'll talk.
  22. It's absolutely not. As long as the team keeps making the playoffs and he doesn't commit any egregious behavior, you keep McD forever regardless of SB wins. That's what winning teams do.
  23. Andy Reid has an 18 year head start. How many Super Bowls did Andy Reid win with McNabb? Smith?
